PATHETIC. I love their doughy bagels they're not like real bagels but I love them. The store has awful service. I hate writing bad reviews I haven't in a long time. But I was soooo excited I schlepped here from farther away after placing a $45 order for two people. Arrived and they were literally sold out of everything I had ordered. Did anyone call me? No. Did the website let me order it all and take my money? Yes. Had to get a refund and now have no bagels. Let me add that I ordered over 2 hours before they close. If you have no inventory why not shut off ordering?? Editing as the experience has gotten even worse. The one bagel they had available that we still wanted isn't being made bc the staff is having too many personal conversations to make the food I ordered 30 mins ago at this point. I can not review the food as my daughter and I never received our order. We stopped in on her way to school so she could grab something for lunch. After we placed our order we waited by the pickup line for at least 10 minutes watching as other people who placed their order after us getting their food. Then we heard one of the staff ask another member if anyone was working on our order, which they replied to "no". They have no communication or guidance between the staff who are putting orders together. It seems to be a free for all, with them just watching the order screen and picking whatever they feel like making. After looking at the time and realizing my daughter was going to be late, I told them to cancel my order and keep the money. Waste of my time which is more valuable than money. read more

The drawback for some is that they are a little the pricey side, and unfortunately it's in that part of Trumbull where any WiFi signal or service is completely nonexistent. Their cheesy hash brown bagel is more of a round, soft pizza crust type of confection, which is good. If you want cream cheese or any topping to your bagel, expect to pay $0.60 more. If you're buying for the office, it can expensive quick; maybe the local armored car can stop by & help bankroll your purchase. One tip: always take your receipt & take the 5 minute online survey at the bottom. It's good for three free bagels on a future visit (although their gourmet, "premium " bagels are excluded, however). Pretty good Bagel spot... A lot of clientele comes and goes, and the space allows costumers to stay too. Bagels are freshly made, and there is plenty of variations when it comes to the menu. I've only visited the one in Trumbull, not the Shelton location. But I like Bruegger's. They've got nice strong coffee (better then Starbucks) and their bagels always seem nice and fresh to me. I have lunched here. The last time I was here I had a Salt Bagel. Maybe not the healthiest choice but I was not in the mood for my usual number one choice, the onion bagel. There is usually plenty of seating and this day was no different. I quite enjoyed my bagel. It's a nice spot for either Breakfast or Lunch. My friend also enjoyed her meal. It is kind of hard to spot but it is located in a shopping center (a little one) near a Japanese restaurant I have never eaten at (and sadly near an abandoned Supermarket that shut down and does not appear to be reopening as anything else anytime soon.) Anyway you walk down a hallway to get to Bruegger's. And then you order at the register. There are also non bagel choices. And you could always be bold and get a bagel with everything on it..I did that once and it was pretty good. read more

The egg they served in my sandwich was green. When I called to complain they put me on hold for 20 minutes because they were short staffed. The woman who answered the phone told me the eggs sit in a warmer and that's why. Eggs do not turn green when sitting in a warmer. She did not care and told me told come in tomorrow when the boss is there. I would not recommend this location ever. It's very dirty and the help is rude. read more

This place really went down fast! I grew up in Trumbull and this used to be my favorite spot when they opened. I looked forward to it every time I visit family. Last two times I had it the middle aged Spanish woman destroyed my order which I try to always call in and it's never ready, even after 30 minutes. I always get the western on an everything bagel. This time un edible . She always forgets the sun dried tomato spread which makes the sandwich. The peppers and onions are diced thick instead of thin and the bacon was completely raw. I threw it out. My mom gets herby turkey and said the meat smelled off the last time she had BB Trumbull. And my sister who are NOT picky won't even step foot in there. They say it's always a disaster. If I'm ever that desperate for an egg and cheese I'll go to Dunkin across the street. read more

Horrible customer service. went there to buy some bagels told the girl to give me more well done didn't even look at me or say a word she through the bagels in the bag and handed me the bag. Looked inside the bag bagels were white no color I told the girl at the register what I wanted and explained to her what I said to the other girl she goes to me that's the way they are. Great bagels! Poor service! If you stop by during the breakfast or lunch wave, be prepared to wait anywhere from 10 - 30 minutes for a bagel and cream cheese. The number of staffers they have is sufficient, however, no one knows how to multitask. If a bagel has to be warmed up, they will put it in the oven or toaster, and stand there looking at you for 30 seconds...move on to the next order. This is one of the worst retail establishments I've ever been to. There were at least 10 employees when I walked in not doing anything except gabbing amongst themselves. They had run out of bagels except for plain. I had to repeat my order 4 times before the employee could remember it. The coffee area was filthy (as were the main counters) and the milk, cream, napkin, and sugar dispensers were all empty. The employees looked dirty, as though they just rolled out of bed. One of them was actually complaining to a coworker about her tip. Tip?? Who would tip these people? I think this store is worth a trip by the local Health Inspector. It's disgusting. read more

But there is NO excuse not to have bagels available. it has become a weekly ritual with this location. I have been a client of this location for 20 years. I notice that in the past 2 years the overall attitude at the store has gone past many negative stars. The current employees are absolutely RUDE, uneducated, lack any basic manners and have no idea what customer service is. I have been a business owner for 40 years and this type of employee would not stand a chance to work in my company for more than 5 seconds. I notice the female employee yelling at customers in front of me, and I was no exception. After a bad attitude at the cash register when I ordered a dozen assorted bagels, and requested that half of them be plain bagels, an employee started yelling at me that they were assorted. In the past I have always chosen the variety I wanted and not be subject to whatever bagels the unprofessional employee chose for me. Either the owner replaces this type of uninterested staff or it will close soon. I will not recommend them to my worst enemy. I am done with them, after 20 years of being a customer. You are also obviously unable to hire staff that knows how to keep a line moving or smear cream cheese on a bagel. Every single time we come to this place you are out of all popular bagels. ALWAYS! You seem to have an obsession with poppy seed and jalapeno bagels which are always overflowing. Is your head so thick you are unable to gauge the same repeat customers every single weekend? I stopped here for breakfast during a busy time, about 10am. The wait was understandable for how many folks were in line. When I got up closer to the counter area, however, I noticed 5 people working - the line should have moved at a much faster pace with 3 folks making food and 2 cash registers going. This was my first time here. I decided to order a sesame bagel with the onion and chive cream cheese. When I placed my order, the employee said, "we're out". "Of what?", I asked. They didn't have the cream cheese. I kindly made another selection. She then proceeded to ask another employee to get the onion and chive cream cheese. They were just "out" 5 seconds prior. She then did a huffy and went back to get the cream cheese herself. I ended up with my initial selection, but was floored by the situation. When I got to the check out counter, I asked if they are able to make iced tea. The woman said, "I can but I'll have to make the tea and then get ice", as if I had asked her to perform some difficult task such as brain surgery. Overall, the food was fantastic, but I was disappointed by the less than average service. I just took a look at other reviews and it seems as if I am not alone. The cream cheese was fine but as the office staff were sampling the bagels each one they discovered the raw dough inside..also they were very small. Absolutely unfit to eat. Honestly just a sorry excuse of a bagel shop. I guess being from Long Island I'm spoiled. Service is soo slow it took them 5 mins to put together 2 bagels. Bagels are great but the staff are so rude! Be proactive guys, even if for some reason you cannot make the order you could take the order and the money to eliminate one step especially if you are doing nothing else. Gerald was particularly rude when I asked for a single bagel, no filling needed, just a bagel in a bag! He looked affronted that I'd had the nerve to ask him for a bagel and not waited at the counter. I was the only person at the counter, the guy preparing bagel orders was busy with an order and since Gerald was standing around doing nothing but talking with 2 other co-workers it seemed logical to me. He never spoke a word to me except to tell me the price, he got the bagel while whispering to a co-worker and smirking. Bruegger's has announced that their least popular bagel, chain wise, is onion. Based on that, they are no longer offering onion bagels. I believe that is a very shortsighted decision. I, for one, will no longer visit Bruegger's. I have long preferred Bagel King (only a couple miles away). It's too bad. Their bags were certainly good, even though I prefer crusty bagels. I have long felt that the management of this particular Bruegers should be fired, and my last visit cemented that belief. Unless the corporation has changed it's formula, it is clear that SOMEBODY here is trying to save money. I ordered a dozen bagels.
