Fabulous log building and great decor, convenient moab location. Other reviews were positive so we gave it a try, and disappointingly, we didn't have the same experience. Very nice server and hostess but Ribs and brisket were dry, small little container of sauce didn't help, famous for their sweet potato fries topped with cinnamon sugar and caramel sauce (eek/awful). $35+ entrees served on aluminum foil sheets atop a 1/4 cookie sheet pan that adds aluminum bits to your meal when you use a knife or fork. Very friendly. Great service. Salmon was good. A little overcooked for my liking but the sauce was great. The roasted potatoes were undercooked. Some were almost crunchy undercooked. They would have been great if they were cooked until crunchy but not raw crunchy. My wife had burger and it was fine. Not as good as the place downtown (trail something). The fries were crap. We went to dinner with another family so there was 7 of us total. Shay was an amazing server and was prompt to take orders and got our complicated requests spot on. She offered great suggestions and continued to check in on us throughout the dinner. When though the restaurant was busy our food came out quick. We had cheese curds, boneless garlic buffalo chicken, buffalo wings and portobello mushrooms. Dinners were chicken parm and burgers. We all had food left over. It was absolutely delicious. This was an amazing find. Exceptional service (there were at least 7 families in front of us and somehow they got us in 25 minutes like they promised). Shay was our server and gave the best, spot on recommendations. All of the food was good (hubby had one of the speciality burgers, I had a wonderful fish dish-begins with "B" and the kids had the children's chicken and fries). This was a wonderful place to go get dinner in Moab, Utah.Our server was great! I was looking at the Honey Sriracha Lime Salmon and our server steered me the daily fish special, the Barramundi which came in a rich lemony sauce with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Husband had the Beef Medallions which he was happy with. We shared a bottle of Pinot Noir and took the rest back to the hotel with us. Great atmosphere here with both locals and visitors alike. Everything seemed OK when I arrived. They have a cute log cabin type decor, and a diverse menu with some healthy choices. I was seated right away and greeted by my server almost immediately -- he was friendly and checked back frequently. BUT: even though it was a cool evening, staff left the restaurant doors standing open! NO. I felt cold throughout my meal and my food cooled off quickly. Kitchen was fairly slow. Broccoli and their house specialty sweet potato fries were fine, but my barbecued pork was not good; it was mostly burnt ends. Also, they were playing very loud music! Came here on recommendation of a friend who visited last week. They have so many options to choose from. Shay our fabulous waitress so personable ..as was everyone else ...recommended the pork chop however after such a long day of driving and wanting something not so heavy we opted for her fave burger the miners cabin. We eat burgers twice a week normally and yet this one was special and found myself taking off extra onions lettuce etc just to savor the delicious burger with cheese and bbq sauce alone since it was the best tasting meat I can remember eating in a burger! They specialize in bbq so maybe that was the answer. When you walk in it's like stepping back in time log building and rustic decor and why not you're in the Wild West of Moab. We ate upstairs just because it's different over seeing other people having a great time is a good start. Our server was prompt and knowledgeable about the menu with a great sense of humor. Even though it was busy the night that we arrived, we were seated within 20 minutes, and our waitress, Shay, was extremely friendly and diligent. She made a special version of the strawberry lemonade (added peach); it was so yummy! I had the Buffalo burger, and my husband had the beast burger, and we were both very pleased with our choices. The sweet potato fries really are exceptional- I've never had them drizzled with honey, but it makes them extra delicious. The chocolate cake with mousse and pieces of cheesecake was amazing. We're in Moab for the weekend to visit the nearby national parks and went to Broken Oar tonight for dinner. Everything was excellent! We ordered the pickle fries for an app and then we both ordered the beast burger and got it "broken oar style" and it was 10/10. Honorable mention- the sweet potato fries were all the hype. The Broken Oar is easily my favorite restaurant in Moab. This place rocks! I am not sure what happen to the poor oar, but the restaurant itself definitely isn't broken. This place is thriving! After hitting the trails all day during Jeep Safari, we were hungry and wanted to grab a bite before heading to a night trail. Everyone else recommended basic/mediocre options, but I insisted that we check out The Broken Oar. The one hesitation was the price point...but spoiler alert: it is sooo worth it! Unbeknownst to us, The Broken Oar doesn't open until 5pm. We were there just a little after 4pm, so we had some time to kill. By 4:59pm, there was a mob of people waiting to get in. See, this is how you know it's good. If I could slide in a recommendation, it would be to definitely be to the restaurant early. During our dinner, there was a very long wait and it was like the end of a wedding, when you are going through an arch of people on the way out of the restaurant. I loved it, but not a single person gave me a high five upon my exit. We didn't have a wait at all because we were basically first in line for a table. We were in a table of 8 people. Upon arriving at our table, the chairs were extremely heavy and it seemed a bit crowded with the table behind us. However, the atmosphere was so fun and inviting. It was like a big cabin. They were also selling Jeep Safari shirts and gave us a great deal on them. We ordered the sweet potato fries and the cheese curds to start. The fries were amazing--that is what they are known for at The Broken Oar, apparently. The cheese curds were good but nothing out of this world if I am being honest. The sweet potato fries were dressed in a caramel sauce and some kind of zest (maybe cheese) that made them taste so good. For my drink, I decided to try their peach raspberry lemonade. This was easily the best lemonade I have ever had in my whole life. It was chunky, but in the best way. I usually am weird about pulp but this added more texture and flavor to the already delicious drink. I got a few refills of this. My mouth is watering as I reminisce on this delicious drink. For the entree, everything looked amazing...but I decided on the turkey pesto with fries and a side of ranch. Once my food came out, it didn't have the ranch with it. I am so glad I asked again because this was the best ranch I have ever had. Good heavens. It was so good, I ended up needing multiple rounds of the delectable, herb-infused sauce. It paired so perfectly with the pesto sandwich and tasted great with the salty fries too. The service throughout was nothing short of incredible. They consistently checked in on us and made sure everything was going well. Everyone was so friendly and quick with refills and our order. Brooque (or Brooke, if you see her nametag) was an awesome server. She was so kind and patient with us and just had an awesome attitude throughout the entire interaction. This is a given, but yes, I'll be coming back. The Broken Oar may just be one of my favorite restaurants of all time, but it is definitely top notch for my Moab adventures. After all the 5-star reviews, I was really looking forward to the Broken Oar. Sorry to report, we were sorely disappointed. Very rustic decor, which is quite nice, but all the hard wood surfaces make it loud, especially upstairs where we were promptly seated. Our service was friendly. Menu is mostly burgers and sandwiches. Food was just OK. My Ran Daddy sandwich was fatty and the brisket tasted like it was cooked with liquid smoke, not a real smoker. Her fish & chips were frozen blaa, as she put it. Beer was cold, but I was looking for a martini tonight - only beer and wine here. Don't think we will be back --------------- read more

The BROKEN OAR opens at 4:30 pm. We visited on several days and tried to be there at opening because the parking lot fills up quickly with the restaurant not far behind. Service was always great with excellent food. I had the chicken tenders, fish & chips, and brisket sandwich on different nights, choosing the brisket sandwich as my favorite. Pricing for the ICE TEA was horrendous at $6.00 with soft drinks at $4.50. Everything else was probably ok for a tourist town. The pricing is confusing because the web site menu said unsweetened ice tea was $4.00. Lemonade was $7.00. We did not even bother trying any other restaurants. We loved the food, service, and atmosphere. read more

We order the cheese curds to start with but they were a little disappointing. The glass of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay was a bit on the warm side.
