This place is fun. Its always busy and noisy which adds to the fun environment, but expect a wait on weekends and weeks with events in town. The brisket sandwich had great flavor but the brisket was a little tough. My wifes steak was way undercooked but still delicious with the BBQ butter. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Prices are normal for a resort town. The local made desserts were great. Rich and flavorful. I feel like maybe the food prep would have been better on a less busy night. For Moab tourists, the cavernous log cabin feel of this restaurant makes for a great setting to take in a family meal - with a large fireplace, local photos and (of course) ubiquitous broken raft oars. The servers are authentic, know the menu well and ensure you feel like a valued guest!! As for food, one theme stood out: Bacon and Range. Our family steered toward the wonderful chicken sandwich (gluten free bread was solid) and the Cobb Salad. The sweep potato fried are topped with a homemade sugary syrup (a bit sweet for my palate). We stopped here for dinner. They are dog friendly and have a great patio with heaters to sit outside. Our golden retriever loved it and they brought her out a fresh bowl of water along with our waters. We had the pleasure of being served by Melena. She was fantastic and super helpful! She made great recommendations for beer and food. I had the salmon that came with veges and mashed potatoes. The sauce was sweet and spicy. Cooked well. My husband had the buffalo chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. He gave it a 4/5. Sweet potato fries had a syrup drizzle that he said was too sweet and not needed. This is supposed to be one of the nicer restaurants "for Moab". There was a good crowd on a Wednesday so we had to wait a bit. The food is good, nothing special. I had the BBQ pork and it was tender and had good flavor. The other entrees were unremarkable. The sweet potato fries were terrible...all that stuff they told us we'd love on top was like eating an overly sweet waffle. It's no way a 4.6 star...unless everything else in town is terrible. The service was fine. The food just edible but barely and the worst $90 meal ever had for 2 people. The brisket was tough and so fatty could barely eat it. The trout was a drowned in oil/butter slab of fish that did not resemble trout. The vegetables overcooked for hours and sitting in a mess of pepper and oil. The Broken Oar has a cozy, woodsy cabin vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. It was a bit warm inside in the summer, but it cooled off as the evening went on. I had the pork chop with mashed potatoes and asparagus; delicious, though the potatoes came out a little cool. My husband enjoyed the burger's char, though the fries were just okay. Everything just worked: laid-back atmosphere, big portions, and seriously good food. The staff were fantastic--welcoming, attentive, and added to the overall experience without missing a beat. I had every intention of taking photos... but the second the food hit the table, that plan disappeared. We went straight into "eat now, talk later" mode. Two words: Fried Pickles. Had 2 burgers, the "westwater" and "miners cabin" plus like 3 beers. Total came out to near $70, which is a little pricy. But the burgers were cooked to near perfection, not too overdone and not too pink. You get tons of toppings for them as well. Mushrooms on my burger didn't have much to them, no seasonings and maybe even no butter. So burger kinda came off as "dry", as a whole. Sides were good too. Employees are quick and on the ball. We visited Broken Oar the other day and the food was okay. The chicken on my pasta was really good, but I wasn't loving the sauce that came with it. Our server was super sweet and I loved her attitude. The aesthetic inside is super cute. It was raining outside so it was super cozy coming in and seeing the theme. Update: Honestly, I had to think about it and see whether it was worth mentioning this or not, but we chose not to get any appetizers because we were so hungry and wanted to just get our food. When we declined the appetizer, we were asked if we wanted a "side salad" (which wasn't listed on the menu). Thinking that it was included in the entree we were getting, we said yes we would. Come to find out, the side salad alone was $8. We would've just gotten an appetizer if we had known the side salad was going to come out to be $8/each. We went to dinner with another family so there was 7 of us total. Shay was an amazing server and was prompt to take orders and got our complicated requests spot on. Last night I dined with my husband and two male friends on the 2nd floor. We ordered beef brsket, pulled pork and onion rings, fish and chips with onion rings and the other fish and chips with the sweet potato fries. Our waitress was Shay and she said, "I loved my Job" I asked why and she said she loved her customers. She greeted us with a smile, refilled our water dishes , and made the evening suberb. Pulled pork and the prime rib was the best I have ever had . My partner agreed and the left overs taste just as good the next day. I can easily see why a local referred me to them. Tried Broken Oar with my wife as we were traveling through Moab. We had Shay as a server and she was great. I had the ribeye steak and my wife had chicken Marsala. While my steak wasn't the most tender cut I have ever had,, it was cooked as requested, tasty and plentiful. My wife really enjoyed the chicken Marsala. It was also plentiful and was one of the best she has had. Shay was great with recommendations on our meals and made suggestions on some local sights. She was very efficient and personable. We were seated upstairs, which was actually cooler than the downstairs dining. We got the IPA and Pilsner on tap, and enjoyed them thoroughly! My husband ordered the sweet potato fries, which I was glad to try, but found the caramel sauce, cinnamon sugar and lemon zest closer to breakfast food than dinner! We split the beef shoulder medallions (rare) southwest style (grilled onions & mushrooms) and enjoyed the tender meat. We had the best early dinner of our roadtrip at Broken Oar. After hiking all day at Arches National Park, the food, the service and the ambience was exactly what we would have wished for and more. We've got the sriracha and lime chicken, the sirloin, cheese curds with Miranda sauce, strawberry-orange lemonade, and peach iced tea. No exaggeration - all were incredible. What made it better was the top notch service. The hosts along with our server, Melissa, were so kind to us and our plant we brought into the restaurant b/c we didn't want to leave it in our car.
