We ate dinner there on a very warm summer afternoon as we were making our way from Los Angeles to Denver, with stops at national parks along the way. The food selection and proximity to our hotel attracted us, so we called and made reservations for two for about 15 minutes hence. We got there 90 seconds before our reservation time, and walked right past others waiting (they glared at us!), and got seated at a table underneath the high timber ceiling. The hostess brought water right away. Our server showed up quickly, took our order, had a great sense of humor, and brought our drinks, then our food, pretty quickly as well, surprisingly quickly for how packed the restaurant was. My pulled pork dinner was good, but not spectacular. No coleslaw, surprisingly, maybe that's not a thing in Moab. My wife's salad was quite nice. Why only four stars? We went to Moab for a few days and ate here more than once! The staff was kind, the establishment was clean, food came out quickly, and were seated immediately. I ordered the Pesto Sandwich twice, we tried the Brisket Sandwich, Wedge Salad, and Fish & Chips. The patio seating was comfortable and included a beautiful view. The servers are authentic, know the menu well and ensure you feel like a valued guest!! As for food, one theme stood out: Bacon and Range. Our family steered toward the wonderful chicken sandwich (gluten free bread was solid) and the Cobb Salad. The sweep potato fried are topped with a homemade sugary syrup (a bit sweet for my palate). This place is fun. Its always busy and noisy which adds to the fun environment, but expect a wait on weekends and weeks with events in town. The brisket sandwich had great flavor but the brisket was a little tough. My wifes steak was way undercooked but still delicious with the BBQ butter. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Prices are normal for a resort town. The local made desserts were great. Rich and flavorful. I feel like maybe the food prep would have been better on a less busy night. We needed somewhere to grab dinner on our way to Canyonlands to spend some quality time catching the views and walking some trails. Food was very good; salmon dish was tasty (not the biggest portion but no complaints). Waitress was a doll and told you exactly what to order if you were waffling between two items. We opted for the recommended pork chop with a bourbon sriracha sauce topped with sautéed onions & mushrooms - Served with a side of garlic mashed potatoes & grilled asparagus. The generous portion is enough to share for lighter appetites. The other entree we enjoyed was the nightly special of steak Alfredo. Served with a generous portion of fettuccine and garlic bread. We stopped here for dinner. They are dog friendly and have a great patio with heaters to sit outside. Our golden retriever loved it and they brought her out a fresh bowl of water along with our waters. We had the pleasure of being served by Melena. She was fantastic and super helpful! She made great recommendations for beer and food. I had the salmon that came with veges and mashed potatoes. The sauce was sweet and spicy. Cooked well. My husband had the buffalo chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. He gave it a 4/5. Sweet potato fries had a syrup drizzle that he said was too sweet and not needed. We are visiting Moab and wanted to try something new and Broken Oar. My Beast Burger was absolutely amazing and everyone that wants to take on six types of meat (I'm not eating for the next few days) should give it a shot. The Broken Oar has a cozy, woodsy cabin vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. It was a bit warm inside in the summer, but it cooled off as the evening went on. I had the pork chop with mashed potatoes and asparagus; delicious, though the potatoes came out a little cool. My husband enjoyed the burger's char, though the fries were just okay. I had the BBQ pork and it was tender and had good flavor. The other entrees were unremarkable. The sweet potato fries were terrible...all that stuff they told us we'd love on top was like eating an overly sweet waffle. It's no way a 4.6 star...unless everything else in town is terrible. Fun restaurant with beautiful professional local landscape photos and looks like an amazing log cabin. They have a nice grass area in the front with toys kids can play with while you wait for a table. We had the beef brisket, ribeye steak , and bacon avocado burgers which were all fantastic tasting. Had 2 burgers, the "westwater" and "miners cabin" plus like 3 beers. Total came out to near $70, which is a little pricy. But the burgers were cooked to near perfection, not too overdone and not too pink. You get tons of toppings for them as well. Mushrooms on my burger didn't have much to them, no seasonings and maybe even no butter. So burger kinda came off as "dry", as a whole. Sides were good too. Employees are quick and on the ball. Place was kinda like log cabin decor, no loud music but probably gets noisy with a full house. read more

We visited Broken Oar the other day and the food was okay. The chicken on my pasta was really good, but I wasn't loving the sauce that came with it. Our server was super sweet and I loved her attitude. The aesthetic inside is super cute. It was raining outside so it was super cozy coming in and seeing the theme. Update: Honestly, I had to think about it and see whether it was worth mentioning this or not, but we chose not to get any appetizers because we were so hungry and wanted to just get our food. When we declined the appetizer, we were asked if we wanted a "side salad" (which wasn't listed on the menu). Thinking that it was included in the entree we were getting, we said yes we would. Come to find out, the side salad alone was $8. We would've just gotten an appetizer if we had known the side salad was going to come out to be $8/each. I originally gave it 3 stars because the server was nice, but you would think they'd mention that to us when taking our order. read more
