Brisket, wings and ribs with potato salad and BBQ beans, and hush puppies

Very rustic and cool looking place, patio seating was great with misters all around, very pleasant atmosphere. We shared a 3 meat platter with beans which were bland until we added spicy BBQ sauce and potato salad with hard potatoes, the Mustard BBQ sauce made it better, we chose brisket which was a bit dry unless you douse in sauce, the wings were very big and tasty, the ribs were the best and wished we would of gotten all ribs, 3 small hush puppies were so good, but not enough. Not sure if we would ever go back especially since you pay a hefty price for subpar food. The service was great very friendly and accommodating.

Just to preface my review I am not a fan of BBQ however I can recognize if food is good or bad. I personally adore tri tip and brisket. That's just what we ordered along with macaroni and fries. Overall I'd personally rate it at about a 6/10 the food fell apart nicely but it was a little more on the cold side when we received it and it lacked a bit of flavor. Judging from that being the only things I really like from bbq I probably wouldn't go again. My girlfriend liked it as far as I remember. Service was super quick, we ordered and waited about 5 minutes at max. It was standard smokehouse/bbq theming and was clean and organized. If you're a fan of BBQ maybe this spot is for you!

Great BBQ! We both ordered the brisket. Lots of sides to choose from. You get 2. The thing I don't like about modt bbq places is the lack of fresh vegetables (think: overcooked greens, gluggy coleslaw). Guess I don't have a Southern bone in my body! Anyway, Spitfire offered a beautiful fresh green salad. Yes! I also got the mac & cheese, but wish I would've tried the mashed potatoes instead. The mac & cheese was ok but not very cheesy. My husband got coleslaw & salad both. We were on a road trip so after numerous meals out you really want something nutritious! We were happy here. The brisket was nice and smokey. Te"nder corn bread too with honey butter. I much prefer soft & tender over dry cornbread I've had elsewhere. The atmosphere is modern and airy inside with patio seating. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We will go back if in Moab again.

Came here with my boyfriend on our way in to Moab for the night. I loved the view from the balcony, where we ordered local beers. Two people can definitely share whatever you choose to order. I highly recommend the ribs and mac n cheese! Plenty of parking and food comes fast!

A convenient place one block off main. Lots of street and public parking. Place is clean, has a bar with pool table in the back. Plenty of room inside and outside with misters. Clean with self serve soda, order at the counter and they bring food out promptly. The not so good brisket and pulled pork were disappointing dry. The potato salad was MEH, the mash was good as was the hush puppies. We got a salad and it came with way too much dressing but the lettuce was fresh.

Stopped for some BBQ while we were in Moab last weekend. This place looked solid from the street. Clean inside and friendly service. Lots of menu options too. Outside dining was large. Three BBQ sauce choices, all of them were tasty. Ordered the 2 meat platter with wings and brisket. The brisket was disappointing. Lots of fat and not seasoned/smoked enough in my opinion. The mac and cheese was mid at best, no flavor and minimal cheese. The fries were below average. The smoked wings were good, but only got 4 of them with the platter. My wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of slaw. It was pretty decent. Not going to recommend this place though. Just missed on too many checkpoints.

This restaurant was a good find on our part. It hit all the spots of our dining experience for good bbq food in Moab. From good service to tasty and quality bbq meats + sides, this bar & restaurant is definitely a must-visit if you like bbq food. We were seated promptly when we arrived. We chose to sit in their patio area as it was nice outside. Our server was cordial and friendly. The service was prompt. We ordered a three meats platter which came with two sides and hush puppies or cornbread. We chose hush puppies. We got andouille sausage, brisket, and ribs with baked beans and mac n cheese. We also got a kids meal with brisket and fries. The food came out shortly after ordering. It looked and tasted good. Allnof the food was good. Our most favorite was the andouille sausage. It had a nice kick to it. The brisket and ribs were tender and flavorful. I also had an Apricot Hefeweizen and a spicy Prickly Pear margarita made w/ Mezcal. They both were really good. The bbq sauces available at the table were also good, especially the House BBQ sauce. We had a fabulous experience here and I definitely recommend going here.

I had the pulled pork sandwich, which came with fries. I also ordered a cocktail. While nothing like the Texas barbecue I was missing, happy to get some pulled pork in my system. My friends and I were seated in a large booth table at the back corner of the dining room. It was cozy.

A decent BBQ joint in Moab. This evening, there was a light crowd and my food arrived to my table before I could fill up my drink cup! I chose the two meat platter with pulled pork, brisket, fries, Mac n cheese, and hush puppies. The meats were nicely smoked and the brisket was very tender. The house sauces were great as well. My only complaints are that the fries were very soggy and the macaroni was a little hard/undercooked.

Brisket with 2 sides. Smokey old fashion
    Will C.

Brisket was so tender you can cut it with a spoon. No extra sauce needed. Coleslaw was good but better if you add the white bbq sauce and mix it. Old fashion was the highlight of the meal. Quick service and love the dog friendly patio will go again with family

Food was delicious! Service was fast and efficient. The only downside is if you go late, they will run out of meat. The first time we went, they ran out of both the brisket and ribs which are their most popular items. So we went again the next day way earlier and got the 3 meat platter. The brisket was so moist and delicious. A bit fatty but still tasty. The ribs were good. The tri-tip was also really moist and perfectly cooked. Sausages were smoked perfectly. Even the sides were very tasty. Service was super fast and efficient. Beer are about $5.50-$6. Bathrooms are clean. Easy parking.

Sat at the bar and learned so much from the great bartender about "the old Denny's" place. Even the owner told her experience about opening - they've been open 3 seasons. A sit down bar that (It's also family friendly ) The in depth: The aesthetic of Birdy's is one of the most unique I have ever seen anywhere. It's a good take on a 70s vibe with some nice warm lighting, they also have an adorable little shop in the back too. As for the food, we got their buttered bread board. They had a few different flavored butters to try on their in house made bread. Honestly as a starter it turned out to be pretty on point . I would recommend it as a solid starter for any group going here The main entree I got was the New York steak. Which turned out to not even be the best thing on the plate(but it was good). And you may say, "hey how can you order a steak and it's not the best thing on the plate?" Because they had some ASTONISHINGLY GOOD POTATOES! They had the perfect level of crispiness for both the normal and sweet potatoes. The biggest disappointment of the night was the peanut butter brownie. The reason for this was not because of how it tasted, it in fact tasted great, but it had the texture of a brownie that had been sitting out for a few hours and tossed in the microwave for 5 seconds. Short to say the brownie wasn't warm at all which kinda dampened the experience. All in all I'd say this is the only "modern-bar" experience in town, the food was good and there social aspect is more of what you'd expect in a downtown city bar. 4/5

The nice young waiter took us to a nice balcony with two tables, and said it would probably be 20 minutes before the kitchen opened back up for lunch. (We were fine sitting on the balcony enjoying the view.) We ordered ice teas and just relaxed after the drive down Unaweep Canyon. We both ordered the "Street Tacos". Now I have eaten street tacos for decades, and if streets were lined with gold, these might be the tacos they'd serve. Everything was perfect. The pulled pork was smoked and succulent, the carne asada was moist and flavorful, and the wild mushroom--yep tacos hongos!--were inventive and delicious. They piled them up like they assumed we were going to require a considerable energy expenditure in the near term. In other words, great good, and great portions at prices a resort in the middle of the desert needs to charge to turn a profit. I need a reason to pass through Gateway again.

My wife and I were really excited to check out Devil's Kitchen during our time in Grand Junction…read more It sits up on the rooftop of the Hotel Maverick. We decided to drop in without a reservation. The host was honestly pretty weird about it. He told us he had to go ask his waiters if they would even agree to take us. Truth be told, that is a bizarre way to welcome paying guests. They ultimately found a spot for us. Then they abandoned us for a solid fifteen minutes before anyone even approached the table. We finally ordered our drinks and watched another twenty minutes tick away. I went with the CMU Centennial Manhattan. It is built with a Colorado bourbon, sweet vermouth, local hot honey, bitters, and a bordeaux cherry. A proper Manhattan needs a careful balance between the whiskey and the sweet vermouth to round out the bite. Honestly, they were just way too heavy-handed with that hot honey. It was so aggressively spicy that it just wasn't enjoyable. My wife ordered the Lavender Lemon Drop. Hers was actually perfectly balanced with a really nice citrus kick. We put in an order for the Deviled Kitchen Eggs. Another twenty minutes passed before they hit the table. They make them with a tempura fried egg white and an herb yolk. I appreciate the attempt at a crispy texture. They were decent but ultimately nothing special. My wife ordered the Bison Tip Pappardelle. I decided on the Roasted Dirty Hippie Half Chicken. They use a local Palisade beer marinade for the chicken. I ordered it with duck fat potato dippers and truffle yucca on the side. Another thirty minutes crawled by before the main courses arrived. Both dishes were just huge letdowns. The pappardelle noodles were completely stuck together in a starchy clump. The wild mushroom cream sauce was overly sweet and cloying instead of savory. The bison meat was tough and tasted exactly like plain boiled beef. There was absolutely nothing enjoyable about that pasta dish. My chicken wasn't any better. It had a terribly rubbery texture. It felt like it was roasted three days ago and lazily reheated. The skin was soggy and gross instead of crisp and properly rendered. The duck fat dippers were completely missing that deep, savory richness you expect when cooking with animal fats. The truffle yucca was actually pretty tasty. A good side dish just can't make up for a terrible main course, though. We didn't bother asking for a second round of drinks. The food was so poor that we skipped dessert and just asked for the check. The panoramic view of the Colorado National Monument from the rooftop is fantastic. A beautiful sunset just isn't enough to excuse a bad dinner, though. We expected a much higher-end culinary experience. What we got felt like a bunch of college students running a very disorganized experiment. I would definitely skip this spot.
