Wow I am staying here and came in with low expectations given it's at the resort but they blew my expectations out of the water! Their complimentary focaccia bread and truffle butter was AMAZING. And the grilled chicken on my salad was cooked to perfection. I also saw someone with the short rib and it looked and smelled incredible- getting that tomorrow!!! Bartender was so kind and engaging even though the restaurant appeared to be low staffed. Great job yall!!

This is your main place to eat at Gateway Canyon Resort. We had good service. Not overly friendly, but they did their job just fine. I really enjoyed the bean/cheese dip with the appetizer we got! The tacos have wonderful homemade tortillas...the meat was okay on them, but the tortillas made my mouth water! The fish with the fish and chips was good and beer battered. The fries were okay...but kind of mushy and not my favorite. The kids Mac n cheese was delicious even though my kid didn't eat it. He did enjoy their fruit cup which was good fresh fruit. We visited the upstairs game room after lunch and it was nice. There was a pool table, two shuffle boards, a box of games, and darts. We also ordered dinner from here and did takeout so we didn't have to pay the delivery fee. The onion rings were good and I liked the dipping sauce. My husband said the burger was good. I had the Cajun shrimp Mac n cheese which honestly I would have been happier to just order the kids Mac n cheese and eat that. (Didn't really love it). I had the pineapple upside down cake with salted Carmel ice cream. It's not quite your traditional cake because they add Carmel sauce to it, but I enjoyed it and the ice cream. For lunch this is a pretty decent place. Dinner is okay.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise. We wanted to go for a drive through Unaweep canyon and happened upon this pretty neat resort. It was kind of slow being as it's the middle of winter but the staff was super friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was very kind and talkative and happy to tell us all about the area. The smoked brisket tacos were incredibly tender while being packed full of flavor. Both salsas complimented the meat really nicely. They also topped them with Cotija cheese which happens to be my favorite cheese. My husband got the carnitas tacos which were equally as tasty. Along with all the amazing flavor, the portions were also very generous. I could hardly finish two but obviously couldn't let the third go to waste. If you're in the area, definitely check out this hidden gem.

Great place for lunch! It's a little pricey, but the food here is good. This restaurant is located inside Gateway Canyons resort. The place is nicely decorated and elegant. The $16 Grilled Black Angus Burger comes with fries or salad. Both the burger and fries were delicious. ....| \ _ , , , - - , , _ , .../ , ` . - ' ` ' . _ \ - ; ; ; , _ ..| , a - ) ) _ . ; . Great food! For dinner and breakfast or lunch just amazing! Even the atmosphere was great. However have to say some of the tables were very low so awkward for us tall people to eat on ;)

Tried the cheese curds and they were good, but did make me think I needed marinara. Guess sometimes cheese curds can be a little like glorified mozzerela cheese sticks. Thats on me...and not to take anything away from this dish here which is very good. The scenery from here is amazing and that's why you would find yourself in this part of colorado...there's not much else. Also had the cuban sandwich and it was very good. Not Miami good, but hey this is far from there!

Fantastic atmosphere for excellent food. We love to drive out from Grand Junction to Gateway for the drive and to eat here. I love this place. I do worry because it is never packed and the service and quality are what you expect from a high-end resort. I usually get the grilled chicken sandwich and it is delicious. I highly recommend it.

Veggie tacos, ciabatta open sandwich and a Colorado field greens salad. Yum!

We had a fabulous vegan dinner here. The menu is diverse with several good vegan choices. And the kitchen will improvise to suit your diet. So, we ordered with the able assistance of a staff member. She was most helpful! Then the food came. It was spectacular. Vegan all the way and delicious. And, waitress keep checking on us and getting us more ice tea and water - important here due to the heat. Highly recommended for vegans and vegetarians! Dine with pleasure here. And several humming birds were constantly at the trumpet vine flowers. Quite entertaining!

We ate for dinner two nights in a row because it was our only option. Well I wish there was another one anything, for such a high-end resort you would think the food would be edible. This place is absolutely beautiful the food is horrendous. To pay $350 a night for a room and be forced to eat sandwiches doesn't work for me. The chicken sandwich was completely raw. The night before I ordered steak Frites medium rare of course it came out well done. Tomorrow we leave here and will stop to have dinner somewhere else. I'm hungry! Get a new chef!

Mediocre food, $$, and rude waiter named robin!

It would have been a great dining experience if it were not for our waitress robin! She is very rude and very abrupt! The food was mediocre and a bit pricy! Will not come back here ever again!

This place is surprisingly good and reasonably priced. The smoked rib plate really hit the spot. For just $19 and being in such a luxurious resort, it's quite unbelievable. Love it.

Sat at the bar and learned so much from the great bartender about "the old Denny's" place. Even the owner told her experience about opening - they've been open 3 seasons. Some people dressed nice and fancy, while others were in Patagonia and sweatshirts with a cap. They take all kinds. The food was amazing! Loved it all - clean plate club here. Even scrapped the cheese of the lobster Mac bowl with the bread from the burrata. Easy parking, just outside of town. GO HERE! Hint: Check out the women's bathroom.

A sit down bar that (It's also family friendly ) The in depth: The aesthetic of Birdy's is one of the most unique I have ever seen anywhere. It's a good take on a 70s vibe with some nice warm lighting, they also have an adorable little shop in the back too. As for the food, we got their buttered bread board. They had a few different flavored butters to try on their in house made bread. Honestly as a starter it turned out to be pretty on point . I would recommend it as a solid starter for any group going here The main entree I got was the New York steak. Which turned out to not even be the best thing on the plate(but it was good). And you may say, "hey how can you order a steak and it's not the best thing on the plate?" Because they had some ASTONISHINGLY GOOD POTATOES! They had the perfect level of crispiness for both the normal and sweet potatoes. The biggest disappointment of the night was the peanut butter brownie. The reason for this was not because of how it tasted, it in fact tasted great, but it had the texture of a brownie that had been sitting out for a few hours and tossed in the microwave for 5 seconds. Short to say the brownie wasn't warm at all which kinda dampened the experience. All in all I'd say this is the only "modern-bar" experience in town, the food was good and there social aspect is more of what you'd expect in a downtown city bar. 4/5

A month ago I got the ham and cheese croissant and it tasted like something from a gas station. But I wanted to give them one more change. And the stuffed French toast sounded yummy. I was wrong. The menu claims "Thick‑cut Texas toast filled with sweet cream cheese, and topped with seasonal berries dipped in cinnamon‑vanilla batter, and grilled untill golden". The only thing that had flavor was the berries. The two slices of bread was like what you got at the grocery store (not thick and definitely not Texas toast) the cream cheese was bland and was put between them like if it was a PJ and J sandwich, and the toast was just bland no vanilla or cinnamon flavor. The only flavor came from the syrup and berries. Also it was soggy, I started to eat it like less then 3 minutes after getting it and even waited for it to be done made (so it wasn't sitting there for a while getting soggy waiting for me to pick it up). Definitely not worth the $13.

My wife and I were really excited to check out Devil's Kitchen during our time in Grand Junction…read more It sits up on the rooftop of the Hotel Maverick. We decided to drop in without a reservation. The host was honestly pretty weird about it. He told us he had to go ask his waiters if they would even agree to take us. Truth be told, that is a bizarre way to welcome paying guests. They ultimately found a spot for us. Then they abandoned us for a solid fifteen minutes before anyone even approached the table. We finally ordered our drinks and watched another twenty minutes tick away. I went with the CMU Centennial Manhattan. It is built with a Colorado bourbon, sweet vermouth, local hot honey, bitters, and a bordeaux cherry. A proper Manhattan needs a careful balance between the whiskey and the sweet vermouth to round out the bite. Honestly, they were just way too heavy-handed with that hot honey. It was so aggressively spicy that it just wasn't enjoyable. My wife ordered the Lavender Lemon Drop. Hers was actually perfectly balanced with a really nice citrus kick. We put in an order for the Deviled Kitchen Eggs. Another twenty minutes passed before they hit the table. They make them with a tempura fried egg white and an herb yolk. I appreciate the attempt at a crispy texture. They were decent but ultimately nothing special. My wife ordered the Bison Tip Pappardelle. I decided on the Roasted Dirty Hippie Half Chicken. They use a local Palisade beer marinade for the chicken. I ordered it with duck fat potato dippers and truffle yucca on the side. Another thirty minutes crawled by before the main courses arrived. Both dishes were just huge letdowns. The pappardelle noodles were completely stuck together in a starchy clump. The wild mushroom cream sauce was overly sweet and cloying instead of savory. The bison meat was tough and tasted exactly like plain boiled beef. There was absolutely nothing enjoyable about that pasta dish. My chicken wasn't any better. It had a terribly rubbery texture. It felt like it was roasted three days ago and lazily reheated. The skin was soggy and gross instead of crisp and properly rendered. The duck fat dippers were completely missing that deep, savory richness you expect when cooking with animal fats. The truffle yucca was actually pretty tasty. A good side dish just can't make up for a terrible main course, though. We didn't bother asking for a second round of drinks. The food was so poor that we skipped dessert and just asked for the check. The panoramic view of the Colorado National Monument from the rooftop is fantastic. A beautiful sunset just isn't enough to excuse a bad dinner, though. We expected a much higher-end culinary experience. What we got felt like a bunch of college students running a very disorganized experiment. I would definitely skip this spot.
