We stopped in for breakfast. Don't miss the Monte Cristo - it was excellent. We were surprised at the size of the waffle - VERY small. It was very good but even with the bacon and potato croquette you will not be full. Great size for a child. Very disappointed in the eclair. It was soggy on the bottom and filled with a whipped cream / custard mix. The chocolate on top was good. It made me wary of ordering other pastries. I have traveled all over the world and know my eclairs, the whipped cream fillings are not my favorite. Maybe you will like that. Service was great. read more

Ok so rare that I find a restaurant that has been 5 stars in three areas. The food we selected was absolutely outstanding. We also had the goat cheese salads that has walnuts, figs, cranberries, and a puffed pastry to top things off. Ample selections of fantastic wines and spirits. To top it all off the raspberry cheese cake was to die for. Plenty expensive but fantastic all around. Very lovely ambiance. The service was excellent as well. I met some friends for lunch today ( on my recommendation, unfortunately) and man- being understaffed is an understatement. We saw one waitress the entire time, not even a hostess , and the waitress was so overwhelmed , we never even got menus . We looked up the menu on our phones and flagged her down to order. It took the entire lunch to get a glass of water that we asked for 3 times . She never came back after dropping off our checks so , thankfully, we all had cash because if we would had to wait to bring back our credit cards , we would have been late to work. I'm not even blaming the waitress - in fact, I tipped her 30% because I truly felt bad for her. Either management or the owners should have been busting their asses as well. And the food was ok but it's hard to enjoy it when you have nothing to quench your thirst . Big bummer - will not be returning . read more

I wondered if they forgot the capers so I asked the waitress for capers and the waitress told me that capers are added to the sandwich only on the dinner menu. The service non existent the waitress never came to ask if we needed additional items. She only came when we called her to ask for the capers. That outrageous so called salmon sandwich was priced $ 18.00 The place was empty no wonder. With food service and ambience poor and such high prices no wonder they were empty. Recently had dinner here with friends. We arrived at 6PM on a Saturday and there were plenty of empty tables. We were seated right away, which was great. Turns out the bartender was our waiter, which wasn't so great. Although the bar wasn't super busy, one person at the bar kept him busy, and service to our table suffered a bit. Announcement- open for BREAKFAST! And what a breakfast it is! Stopped in on a whim when we saw the open sign this morning. Place was empty, almost hard to tell it was open excepting the sign. This place is an amazing gem in this valley. The chef brought out warm almond croissants as I was perusing the already amazing pastry case. My friend and I sampled the ham & cheese quiche and the almond croissant. We are delighted! Can not recommend enough. If you happen to be in sleepy little Grand Junction, you absolutely have to try Bistro 317! Who would've thought that you would find the best French food around in Grand Junction? Grand Junction is our second home and we rarely visit without a trip to the bistro. The owner is ever present and the food is fantastic! We are bar people and we always sit at the bar. The bartender Ziez is a one man dinner theater show! His energy is infectious and it's always welcome especially on a cold night. My husband adores the steak frites. I'm a sucker for the wine list and the mussels. If you happen to be a table type, Morgan is a doll and is a great server. This is a wonderful addition to the restaurant scene downtown. I came in for dinner and this is good French food. The escargot was cooked perfectly with great texture and garlicky flavor. It came with more than enough bread. The duck confit was juicy and cooked to perfection as well. Good selection of wine. They have beautiful desserts but I didn't have the room left to enjoy. My husband wanted to try something new for dinner so we came here with our 2 daughters (age 2 & 12). Nice ambience and outdoor seating. I liked that we were able to call and make a reservation a few hours prior. When we arrived, no one greeted us. I had to ask the bartender if we could be seated. Our drinks and food came out quickly. They gave us complimentary warm crispy baguette. We ordered crab cake and escargot. The crab cake was about 5 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick. Big chunks of crab meat, flavorful, and crispy. Delicious! The escargot was okay. I would've liked it better if it were hotter in temperature. The escargot at 626 on Rood is perfect, so go there for escargot. My 12-year-old ordered the burger, well done. (A mistake I know. I told her not to.) The burger seemed like it was overworked and resulted in a tough patty. The natural cut fries could've been good if it weren't so over-cooked. My husband ordered the meat of the day which was rack of lamb with curry sauce over a bed of DRY pappardelle. I didn't like the lamb or dry pasta. It came with zucchini and shrimp which was good. My husband enjoyed the meal. I ordered the fish of the day which was prawns with a salmon dip and a "side salad". The "side salad" was the whole dish! Five chilled prawns that were 3-4 inches. And I think the salmon dip had full skin in it because I had to cut it apart. To drink, I had a cosmopolitan on the rocks. The ice was tiny and melted. Seemed like the same ice they shook the drink with. I prefer my drink poured over new ice. It tasted good though. Our meal was about $155, which wouldn't be too much if our food was good. I don't think I would return. I'm glad we tried it so we wouldn't have to live our life wondering. read more

Very nice, comfortable place with nice decor. They had a full bar which was separated from the dining area with a glass wall. A small menu but what they served was done well and everything was delicious. The staff was friendly and our waitress, Danielle was personable, professional and fast. I noticed at one table they where having a dinner business meeting, people on dates, older couples and they were able to accommodate a family of 8 with young kids. They had a separate area towards the back for the large family group so everyone could do there own thing and no one was disturbed. I only regret I didn't have room for their delicious array of desserts. My husband wants to go back for breakfast (even though we get breakfast in the hotel). We were ignored for a while at the door until the bartender finally noticed that no one was checking on us for our reservation. We ordered drinks at the same time as our appetizer and meal but drinks came to our table after we were done with our appetizer. They were out of 3 of the 4 menu items for the night when we had 7pm reservations. The one left was the vegetarian option.. 2 alternatives were available, both seafood, but were not at the same level as the specials. I ordered one of the items that was apparently unavailable since after waiting for about half an hour after our appetizer our waitress brought out our appetizer (really happens, not a typo) and then came back a few minutes later explaining what I order was unavailable. By the time we got our dinner (salmon) it was after 8:15. Food quality was ok but not great. The waitress for the table next to our actually checked on our table and was more helpful than the waitress for our table. The chef did come to our table and apologize by blaming it on not being able to order more. We know service was worse for our table seated about the same time since were served much faster. When we left with our desert in a box since we didn't care to endure the service any longer after over an hour and a half. The table next to the front door was being served appetizers when we arrived and was a different couple that had finished desert when we left. Bad experience overall and not be back. read more
