The French dip was one of the best we've ever had, made with actual roasted prime rib, and the dirty martinis were perfect. Not what we're were expecting from this hotel restaurant and they blew us away with the food & service. Truly good enough we would go back even if we were not staying at the hotel. read more

We decided to lounge in our room before breakfast. It was nice not having to wake up early and rush to work. We took advantage of that. Because of laying about, we came down to breakfast late. The host informed us they were closing in 10 minutes. No matter. It wouldn't take us that long to order and eat. I told Tanya our server that we knew what we wanted so we wouldn't keep her long but she assured us that she was in no rush. She placed our order first so they could make our breakfast and then brought the condiments and drinks. I appreciated her relaxed manner. Made it nice as we were on vacation and I didn't want to be rushed. But I didn't want to keep anyone either. I went with the Horizon eggs over easy, bacon and hash browns. White toast. He had an omelette. The toast is not thick bread and the hash browns definitely dry. But with the hotel credit per person breakfast is free and better ala carte than the buffet. At least to us. Tanya was sweet and personable. Said she'd see us the next day since we were staying over. Her service the next day was awesome as well. She is a personality and really caring. The breakfast was ok. Had the omelette with bacon, spinach and cheddar. Hash browns were like a block and dry. The service is what was memorable. That's what I'm grading the 4 stars for. read more

I've had free buffets that were much better than this $18 buffet. Eggs were overcooked and looked like a beehive. Potatoes would have been much better if they were crispy, not soggy hash browns. I ate in the lounge but they have the full restaurant menu available in there. The lounge is large and is comfortable, plenty of space to hang out with your party. Shout out to Patty, she was an amazing waitress and the meal she recommended was right on point. I had the Cajun pasta with prime rib on top, it was SO good!!! I also ate the buffet breakfast in the restaurant side. service was very good and the biscuits and gravy were much better than your typical hotel buffet fare! read more

We were road weary on our trip to Palm Springs and did not want to leave the hotel. It was a great decision. Natalie our server was attentive and brought the wonderful specialty drinks from the bar, which was hopping, by the way. The Aviator was a hit for us. Les cooked up two taste filled meals. The blackened chicken thighs were moist and tasty. My husband gobbled up the Bison Meatloaf with mushroom gravy. Then as we watched Les prepare the flourless chocolate torte for someone else, he explained the other options. Crème Brûlée was one option but we were sold on the multi layered moist and beautifully presented lemon cake. Next time I will take pics, and yes there will be a next time as we are "sold" and plan to dine here on the way home from our vacation destination. read more

Breakfast is buffet only. The food is below average for a hotel and overpriced at $18. Service is chaotic, poor and inconsistent. When seated, I was asked by the host if i wanted coffee and i said yes. It never came. By time a server walked by and I asked again for coffee, 15 minutes had passed and I was done with breakfast. The server then spent a few minutes chatting at the receptionist stand, then helping 2 other tables before he came back with coffee. He didn't bring any milk or cream. Why not? Who knows. I guess they don't think in those terms. When I asked for creamer, it was delivered 5 minutes later. Coffee was cold by then. I left the coffee behind. I'm sure they didn't understand. It is also a bad practice to allow guests to walk the buffet line with their dogs! Leave your dogs in your room or at your table -- not the buffet line. An idiot owner is yelling at her dog in the dining room while people are trying to eat. The owner clearly rude of others, and the hotel clueless. I don't get feeding your dogs from the buffet food and allow8ng them to drink out of restaurant water glasses...in the dining room! Come on people. The manager has work to do here. Food quality should be enhanced and staff training undertaken. Until then, this is a poor excuse for an $18 breakfast buffet option. read more

They have the restaurant side and the bar side. I've only enjoyed the bar, but the food is the same. The bar has 8 beers on tap. I've had the salmon salad and the veggie sandwich. Both were delicious and satisfying. Their happy hour is from 5-7, with discounts on drinks and half-price appetizers. Nice place inside your hotel if you're staying there. And I would say it's worth visiting even if you're not, dude. read more

First of all the hotel this restaurant is in is dog friendly but the restaurant is not. There's outside seating but it looks like they lack the staffing to attend to the customers and the Wait staff seemed so dysfunctional. I could feel for the servers. They didn't seem to be very polished in their coordination of waiting on tables. I left a tip mostly out of sympathy. The food was mediocre. read more

Not only is this place open during Covid, they were open on Thanksgiving!!! We are on the road, heading home, but stayed over in Grand Junction along the way. EVERYTHING is closed with the exception of Denny's and even though we don't hate them we just really had our stomachs wanting Thanksgiving food. Right as we checked into our hotel I noticed a flyer that said "Open Thanksgiving Night"! AND the best part was that they even had a Thanksgiving dinner. Even though we normally host Thanksgiving dinner, this year brought up many changes to or sense of normalcy. What we thought was going to be a pancake T-Day ended up being a full traditional meal complete with pumpkin pie. If tonight's food and hospitality is a mere glimpse into Bistro 743, then they -without a doubt- deserve 5 stars. The food was great and service was just as awesome. Stayed at the Doubletree and learned about this restaurant. I travel frequently & usually like to explore the town, plus hotel food is usually overpriced & not so great. However, this was an exception! Great wait staff, wonderful ambience & food was spot on. I've now gone there both nights. First night I had the edamame & shrimp gumbo (came with no rice). It was perfect. The second night, I had the buffalo wings. Just right on the "hot" scale! I'm rethinking trying more of the hotel restaurants in the future. Great stay, friendly staff, good prices & just had to catch an elevator to my room. Wow! I'll be back. read more

Great setting, indoor and out door seating, lots of Big TVS in sports bar. We chose to sit outside 90 degrees and watch the sunset. Service was great, we ordered the wings (good), blue cheese wedge( better than good), rib eye (good). Wife had buffalo chicken sandwich (very good), daughter pep pizza (good). Over all a solid Choice after a long day at the national parks. Service was great. Visited Saturday June 29th . The pens don't work so waitress had to give us her special pen. Have to admit up front that I am always reluctant to go to hotel restaurants because they tend to be very overpriced when compared to other places in town... You pay extra for the convenience of being able to eat downstairs and then walk to your room, instead of driving. ...and Bistro 743 is no different. That wing said, I was really surprised at how good the food was (and we were all surprised at how good it was!). My family was able to eat a very good sit-down meal - with five drinks from the bar - for about what you'd expect at a nice sit-down restaurant out in town (and probably even for less, when the beers are included). And I'd dare say that the food at Bistro 743 is better than what we'd get out in town. The menu isn't very big (but it isn't too small, so if your family has problems deciding what they want, shorter menus help!) so it's easy to zone in on what you want quickly. The lounge area is nice - no kids allowed - and they have a nice selection of both macro and microbrews on tap. Very nice ambiance as well, both in the lounge and in the main dining area. We ate breakfast in Bistro 743 the following morning and it was also very good. Happy we stayed at the Doubletree, and even happier now in retrospect that we got a great meal at a price similar to what we'd lay in town, with the added bonus of being able to walk back to our rooms! read more

I was hesitant because I'm from Texas and nothing compares to Texas street tacos, but oh my, the Bistro got it right on point! From the well seasoned chicken to the corn tortillas...do good! The venue is pretty nice for being a hotel restaurant. The menu is surprisingly diverse with some great options. I had the ahi tune salad. It was well made, but as my wife's dish showed, the cooks use too high of a heat. The tuna is served rare, though the sear was with too high a heat. My wife's filet medallions are instead a sirloin sliced immediately off the grill and again cooked at too high of a heat. This is relevant because the steak isn't rested before cut so the juices drain out all over the plate. To be fair, the staff re-made the entire plate and it was far better the 2nd time. Overall it tasted good, we were pleased, but the cooks have some skills and processes they could brush up on. Also the staff was pleasant but short staffed so a bit of a wait. read more

Needs to be quality checked. The service was always friendly, helpful, and efficient but it did not match the food. I ordered the bison flat iron steak which was cooked perfectly but the caramelized onion/mushroom butter was almost non-existent sitting atop the steak. The butter was touted as the favorite but fell short for me. The flavor was flat with no zing. I'm not sure where the mushrooms were either but I'll count my blessings on that. The sweet potato fries were an extra cost as I knew going in but they were awfully greasy. Most of them were left on the plate. The BBQ sauce served with them was delicious. The mixed veggies, although cooked properly, were overly salted. The star of the meal was the vegan cheesecake with Belgian chocolate. This was worth it and I highly recommend. They looked like 2 brownie squares and were served with fresh, local fruit which was a boon. Bring a light jacket because the air conditioning was on full-force in that place. My friend, who arrived the day before, had eaten breakfast that morning and said the eggs were greasy and the entire meal was a disappointment. My husband and I decided to do dinner here on a whim. I had just found out about the place. We're locals. We sat in the lounge. I found the staff to be friendly, and they took care of us well. Husband had wings, which he said were 'Meh'. He also had the shishito (?) pepper app. He seemed to like them. I had the thin crust pizza with pepperoni, black olives, and for $1 buffalo mozzarella. I didn't know that the mozzarella was in place of the other cheeses. The sauce tasted just like Ragu pizza sauce out of the bottle. My pizza was cold in the middle, the buffalo mozz was not melted, and the dough was not done. I mentioned it to the bartender, who re-ordered my pizza and took it off the bill. The second pizza was done through, the mozz melted, and it was hotter. The only thing I didn't care for was that the olives were just loose all over the top and kept falling off. I think they need to include another layer of cheese to hold them on. I didn't know they had music in the lounge, and in the summer they have music on the patio. Dishes came at different times, some drinks never showed up, wait staff was generally uninformed and uncertain about food prep and specials. Surprisingly lovely. The ambiance needs some work but the chefs did an amazing job with my husbands 12 oz Prime Rib dinner. It was good enough that he felt the need to thank them for an awesome dinner. I had the flatbread pizza and we all had a Caesar salad. The 7 year old gobbled that up. Dessert was also decadent. I chose the buffalo meatloaf with mushroom gravy, at the waitperson's enthusiastic recommendation. The meatloaf arrived dry, with relatively little gravy to moisten. I was informed that requesting more gravy to moisten a difficult-to-swallow meal would involve an additional charge. Bummer. My father-in-law took my wife & I here for a Christmas buffet. It was $25 per person and it was well worth it. They had carving stations for various meats, a breakfast bar, an omelette and waffle bar, desserts, the whole 9 yards. The food was very good and fresh. They had shrimp that was peeled and ready to eat and it was nice and chilled. The fruit was fresh and ranged from various berries, melons and pineapple. The ballroom was set up real nice and had a guitarist playing music while you ate which gave it a nice touch. The only drawback was our waiter. He was nice & friendly but didn't check up on us too often. He got our drinks when we first sat down but we didn't see him until we almost left to refill our sodas or water. Also the staff wasn't that quick to pick up our dirty plates and glasses, Thankfully we sat a a little larger table and pushed the dirty dishes aside but still. If you are in town for Christmas and looking for a good meal to have on Christmas Day, come to the Double Tree hotel and visit the Bistro 743. read more

We called ahead to make sure gluten free options were available and were assured there were. When asked the waiter for a GF menu, they had none. When asked what choices I had other than a salad, the answer was, "I don't know". When asked to check with the chef, the waiter was again a bit befuddled but tried. I ended up with the appetizer of street tacos, chicken. The tacos were shredded chicken with a few slices of cole slaw, very dry. The third taco came with a breast bone in it. I asked the waiter to please share this with the chef and let me know what the chef's response was. This is the response. "Sorry that happened and we apologize but the person shredding the chicken from the whole chicken does not speak very good English" Huh? Thus the low rating, The wine was good. read more

If you like good food and good service when you go out to eat then I highly recommend you don't visit Bistro 743. We went on a Sunday night so it wasn't very busy. This must be when all the untrained people work and the manager takes the night off. Our waitress brought us glasses and a pitcher of water but couldn't be bothered with pouring us the water herself. On hindsight, we were lucky to get the pitcher since we would have gone thirsty for the meal. Our waitress acted like she was either scared to come near our table or simply didn't care about us. I ordered a glass of wine but after 10 minutes I had to get the waitress' attention and ask for it to be brought to me. I was planning on drinking more wine but she never came back and asked if I wanted another glass. Hint: check in frequently with your customers and offer to keep the drinks coming. The meal took quite a long time to be prepared, even though they weren't very busy. My daughter and I ordered steak medallions and they were both cooked medium well even though I ordered medium. The meal was already cold when we got it and not very good. The garlic mashed potatoes were chunky and didn't have much garlic flavor to them. The vegetables were void of flavor. We were seated in front of the cooks so we could hear them laughing and cutting up the whole time. They didn't seem to be taking their job very seriously and were acting a bit juvenile. The quality of the meal showed it. I couldn't wait to get out of there and won't ever go back. If you want a good meal and good service go to Rockslide Brewery, Bin 707 or Outback.
