Base Camp provisions is a wonderful place to grab drink drinks or a meal. They have a good selection of craft beers, draft cocktails, handcrafted cocktails, and spirits. The menu is a bit overpriced, but it's versatile and solid elevated bar food served casually. You walk up order at the bar take a number seat yourself and bus your own table. Great indoor and outdoor space. There are a lot of lawn games and chairs. Perfect to hang out for hours if you'd like. The braised beef melt was a solid sandwich and my go to originally but it's no longer on the menu. The food menu is now very limited. I hope that they can focus on more sandwiches and bar food now that they seem to have added a lot of mussel and seafood options. read more

Started out loving this place because of its seemingly family friendly vibe and outdoor setting. I even included it in a guidebook I made for my Airbnb and brought out of town guests but there is one manager (not sure his title) that hates children. He's so rude and makes the vibe extremely hostile. He is always there. He came and told me that my child needed to be next to me at all times and stop running inside and screaming. She was doing neither. This is my 9 year old who is my best kid if he had told me either of my other two were causing problems I would have believed him. This girl never lies and he accused her of screaming and running inside which would have been extremely uncharacteristic. There were tons of kids so maybe he was confused but it's not really cool to falsely accuse a child and shame them in public. My daughter is also a perfectionist that takes everything to heart so no bueno. It messed her up. Just don't bring kids here if you come. Others that I come here with have had similar experiences. I don't plan on coming anymore. Basecamp GJ is way more chill and has much less bitchy vibes. Highlands is also a better choice if you have kids. read more

Great to see this place up and running, has been eagerly awaited by most of us in Fruita. While they get used to being so busy, the menu is essentially bar food, which is well prepared. The fries are excellent, as is the calamari. Ordering is a pain, as you have to wait in a line at the bar, typically behind people who have been also in line for 10 minutes, then, at the head of the line, don't know what they want and have to find a menu. You'll get a number to take to your table, and a staffer will walk around for several minutes with your rapidly cooling food trying to find your table. Service: You order food at the counter, and someone delivers the food and drinks. A person did come by to clean up the dishes as well. Not full-service, but they do deliver the food and take the plates. Everyone was friendly. Ambiance: There were both indoor and outdoor seating. LArge windows that were open to the outdoors, so you still get a lot of fresh air. Outdoors, there were picnic tables in a large yard. Cornhole games, which were fun. This place has the crispiest fish I've ever eaten and the tartar sauce was so flavorful. The burger was on the salty side but still good. Excellent outdoor patio areas (there are two) and ample indoor seating as well. They also have craft cocktails and local brews with fast service. It's family friendly and close to the park/downtown. We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside on a Saturday and enjoy a late lunch early dinner at Base Camp Provisions! Yum! We had stopped here previously to pick up a to go order and was thoroughly impressed by the food so we had to stop again. Per usual the staff were phenomenal! I indicated I had a dairy allergy and the bartender/hostess went to the back to ensure the items I ordered were dairy free (Banh Mi and Pozole). Thank you! When people take the extra step to check even, it gives me confidence that I won't get sick. Truly appreciated! We sat outside and enjoyed hot Chicken Wings, Banh Mi with Pork, Pozole, Fish N Chips, Beets and Cheese Salad, Saffron Aperol Spritz, and white wine. Absolutely delicious! Everything was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The Saffron Aperol Spritz was awesome and so unique. The bartender also working the bar while we were ordering suggested it and said it was his favorite. I understand why! It was smooth, paired well with food, and was truly refreshing. Used to really love this place. Unfortunately, staff don't care and won't do anything about unsupervised children running and screaming, literally kicking dust into our food on the patio. l guests on the patio were angry with screaming children and not a single staff member bothered to address the issues, stating "poor reviews" was the only avenue to eliminate the issue. They've just opened and they're working things out. The first visit we ordered two burgers to split and fries. The burgers arrived cooked to perfect temperature. The monument burger is the best I've had in a long time. First time in a long time that my restaurant food was hot enough to burn my mouth (not in a bad way). The Mesa melt was cooked to perfection, both bread and meat, a little dry for me. The fries are real potatoes with big ol kosher salt. Second trip we had wings, fries, and the monument burger. Again the monument burger was perfection. It's not just luck. Because you can see into the kitchen I knew it was cooked by different staff. Which means consistency to me. Fries were hot and delicious again. Wing were good and hot, but I don't like dirty fingers so not my type of food hahaha. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable. If you're a native Coloradan like me, you know this is in the old JD's location. Still the original bar. They've preserved the bathrooms with a tiny update. They ladies room actually has free products for us girls. The beer is good too. I guess I should have started with that. You can bring your dog but it can't be in the food service area (gotta keep 'em outside). Actually watched the staff ask a man with an adorable puppy to take it outside. We visited Base Camp Provisions for the grand opening. We were here to visit with friends and family and was told about the Opening. Wasn't sure what to expect in the town of Fruita. What a great surprise tucked into this beautiful town. Some key highlights from our amazing experience: * Not your usual bar food - the restaurant is run and managed by Chef Josh with food that you don't expect at a brewery (e.g. Cuban Pork sandwich, Poutines in various combinations, mussels with amazing sauces, pozole and on and on; top this with amazing locally crafted beers and you won't go wrong and you will come back; * Fantastic selection of tap beers (17 or more!) - and if you are in Grand Junction, be sure to visit another of their locations - Base Camp Beer Works; our next stop for sure; * Ryan, the lead mixologist, knows his mixed cocktails and makes them with top shelf ingredients; * Then there is the seating and environment - great outside seating and large space for kids to run around and super pet and bike friendly; saw a lot of dogs and bicycles leveraging the outside areas; * Beautiful inside decorum - even with the natural beauty of the outside setting, the inside is just as beautiful and inviting; * Amazing seating inside/outside through the large, shuttered windows so you can sit on both sides - allows groups to enjoy both areas at the same time particularly with dogs * And not to forget the amazing outside acoustics for the incredibly talented live band (Wave11) contributed to the final awesome atmosphere. Can't wait to hear the next talented group to play in this perfect venue; and, * And finally, the staff who were running around supporting the Grand Opening crowd of smiling warm people, were all friendly, efficient, and helped maintain that Colorado hospitality, we natives know well. Of course, the Opening was hugely anticipated so the food line was long, but everyone seemed to say it was well worth the wait. We are coming back! Get the word out year round! read more

We went there with friends and it was a mixed bag. The beer was, of course, wonderful. I had the Oatmeal stout and it was delightful! My wife had the Double Bock and liked it as much as I liked my beer. I had the mussels with green curry sauce. The mussels were very nice! However, I was surprised that it was served with a baguette - the classic Belgian combo is mussels and frites (or French Fries to us Americans). Speaking of frites - my wife had the fish and chips, which were served with double fried Belgian Style Frites. The fish was good, one of the top 4 or 5 in the Grand Valley. The frites however were an embarrassment. If they were double fried, it wasn't the day we ate them. They were limp rather than crisp. I've enjoyed Belgian Frites in Belgium, and what they served was nothing like the real thing. The dipping sauces were good, but not good enough to make up for the limp fries. We'd have been happier with mass market frozen fries fried competently. If the fries had been good, I'd have gone to 4 or maybe even 5 stars. The ambiance is rather industrial. This is not the place to take someone on a first date. In warmer weather, the outdoor tables might be very charming. Service is your standard order at the counter and we'll deliver it to you. The bartender/waiters were friendly. As usual the distance from meh to great is not that far, but they just didn't make the trek, being stuck at the base camp and never making it to the summit. read more
