I'm sorry to leave a bad review as we've eaten here several times and have always really liked it. But recently when we had dinner here, I found a medium length human hair in my food. Of course I couldn't finish eating the food as that was disgusting. I've heard other people have found hair in their food there too. Strayhorn Grill, you guys need to make sure your cooks and anyone handling the food is wearing hair nets, especially because this seems to be an ongoing problem with your restaurant. read more

Awesome spot and probably my favorite spot in Fruita. Best steaks in the valley, hands down. Service is always excellent. Love the bacon jalapeño appetizer. Steaks are high quality and cooked to perfection. Dessert list is extensive and homemade. Butter toffee cake is great as is the key lime pie. The carrot cake cheesecake is like an addictive drug lol. We went on a Friday night, there was a short wait. After being seated we ordered our drinks and appetizers. Super prompt & friendly server. We were starving so we (party of 4) ordered 3 appetizers. The Jalapeño Poppers were spicy and delicious. We got the Bean Dip and it was pretty good. Wish I could remember the 3rd but it's been a few weeks :). The icing on the cake was the Posole Soup...OMG, absolutely fantastic, highly recommend. Deep flavor, lots of pork, perfectly seasoned. My meal was Prime Rib, perfectly cooked, seasoned and delicious. I will def be making the trip back over to eat here again. Came here to grab a steak which came along with a baked potato, green beans, and a side salad. I also got corn chips with salsa as an appetizer. The steak was cooked medium-well, as I like it. We have been going here more and more in the past 6 months. The breakfast has been excellent, definitely loving the breakfast burritos good green chilli great portions!! (Chicken fried steak not to shabby either) Had lunch there a couple days ago the cob salad was wonderful, my grandson who is seven had the sirloin steak, said it was the best ever, and the French fries were good too. Wow! The Strayhorn Grill did not disappoint. Our server was Joey and she took very good care of us. She recommended the Posole Verdi soup as an appetizer and it was delicious. The cowboy sandwich and steak Caesar salad were also amazing. The portions were large and the food came out at the perfect temperature. The steak on the salad was perfectly cooked to order. 4 of us for lunch today, I ordered the half pound burger after having read good thing about several items at the restaurant. It was okay at best I could tell it came from preformed frozen stock. Maybe Nobel Sysco or something like that. It was dry and not much flavor. The others at the table ordered other things, but theirs looked as boring as mine. Service was good, but $80.00 plus for four sandwiches, two coffees and a soft drink was too muck much. Plus tip. Plus credit card charge. Credit cards are a very normal means of paying, and taking them means a great deal more customers. Now they don't have coming back. read more

Went for the Valentine's Day steak and lobster. The food was good for the price, but not great. I'd give the prime rib 6/10 and lobster 7/10. But it was cheap compared to most places in the area. The wine list is really horrible and needs revamped. The drinks from the bar were poor and overpriced. Just a really bad place if you like good drinks with your meal (unless you want beer). The service was GREAT! Our server was very attentive and made sure we were satisfied. We came in around 5:30 on a Saturday and although it was busy we got sat almost immediately. Our wonderful server made sure our drinks were full, the food was amazing, I got a medium, rare sirloin and my husband got a rare ribeye. Both of the steaks were cooked perfectly, we got a New York cheese cake to spilt and let me say it was just phenomenal! Food was good but we decided to pay the bill with cash since Strayhorn Grill offered a cash discount. When the change was returned, Strayhorn rounded the bill up by not returning the coins thus defeating the advantage of paying cash. I'll use my credit card next time if this policy continues. Strayhorn indicated other restaurants are doing this policy. I don't know of any in the Mesa County. read more
