What happened to my first review? Did you guys take it down? I went to starving. Arvin's my wife ordered the green chili supreme. It was half the size hardly any eggs all gravy. I got the biscuit supreme. The biscuits were half the size and burnt the pancake my wife got was burnt. It was just a horrible experience and we have been going there for 30 years. We were greeted and shown to our table quickly. Brook (our server) was friendly, checked on us, very attentive to us and the other customers. The food was very good, cooked to order, and tasted delicious. A decent price for all the food we got. Would recommend and will be back when in the area. read more

We stopped here on our way to Gateway for lunch. Not only was food good, the owner - Arvin just was a treat!! He was funny and spoke with us for quite awhile. After lunch, he presented us with the most incredible cinnamon roll...it was unreal. We went on our way only to return at the end of the week as we were headed home. We wanted to stop back bcuz we enjoyed the food & service so much. Sharon was our waitress, she was buried but kept a sweet smile & kindness and actually called Arvin back to help...he remembered us and was thrilled we returned. This used to be a great place. It would be packed every morning, sometimes even with a wait to be seated. But, the last few times I've gone, the food is unpredictable and not the same quality they used to be. I can tell this has become the norm, because in a Saturday morning there were just a few tables, so people have sadly abandoned the old go to. This past weekend, I ordered the pancake special and the pancakes came out very dark brown, to the point the outside was crispy. I asked if I could get some less burned pancakes. About 10 minutes later, two more equally burned pancakes arrived at our table, which was very disappointing. What makes this more frustrating is that the table next to us had perfectly golden brown pancakes. Not sure what they asked for to get those, but that's what they used to always serve. As for the ambiance, it used to be decorated with Sue's art, which added some needed color. Now the shelves and walls are sadly empt. I'm giving two stars because the waitress working in Saturday morning had the place to herself and she was handling it with a smile, taking orders and getting food out surprisingly efficient. But in the end, if you're looking for the old delicious Starvin Arvin food, make the drive to Puffer Belly in GJ or the Starvin Arvins in Clifton. The Fruita one will leave you disappointed. If you don't have time for the drive, the Cattleman's in Fruita is consistently delicious and a great option, and right near downtown. read more

9/22/2021: Ordered the breakfast burrito, to-go, as it is the greatest commuter food ever invented. Except at Starvin' Arvin's. I get back on Interstate 70, open my order, I see a totally inedible breakfast burrito. The burrito is not wrapped in paper, it is covered with partially melted cheese and the hash browns are on the outside. They totally defeated the purpose of ordering a dry breakfast burrito to-go. When you're in the restaurant business and you are located at a gas station and your restaurant is directly off the Interstate... you really should know what a breakfast burrito is, how to make it and the purpose of why people order them to-go. If you are a commuter or traveler and need some food for the drive, don't go to Starvin' Arvin's you will not only be starving but you will be pissed off to the highest degree of pisstivity. On a positive note, the staff was nice, polite and friendly. This place has potential to be a regular go to spot. Unfortunately we all only get one chance to make a first impression and Starvin' Arvin's was an epic fail for this first impression. Time wasted, money wasted, frustration and inconvenience of having to stop at another restaurant to order a real breakfast burrito. For this reason, I won't be back. read more

The biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs and hash for only $8.50 is a amazing deal! Was so hungry I didn't take a before photo but here is proof that they were great! Such a big portion I couldn't finish. Awesome little diner. If you are traveling from Las Vegas to denver like I am, this is the place for gas and food! Gas is currently $3.99 (85grade) which is the cheapest I've seen. I came in and it took me over 5 minutes to be seated - server was nice, but doesn't refill coffee - until 20 minutes later - food took forever and was under the warmers for, at least, 10 minutes while the only server there cleaned seats and tables?!? There was another worker there with a really bad cough and cold and was sneezing over the waters brought to tables - Food was okay and woman server was nice - but, tops, there were 4 tables occupied and the service was horrible! I've waited tables before and this was incredibly slow and just horrible! Half hour later and one refill on the coffee and NO follow up on "Is everything okay"!?! Table next to me ordered ketchup for their hash browns - never got it!! Ridiculous and never coming back! read more

Dear Starvin' management... my husband and I are from out of state, and we noticed your restaurant near our hotel. The hours that were painted on the windows were different than those listed on yelp. I called your restaurant to verify the hours,( yesterday 4:30pm) as we had hoped to have breakfast here this morning..... the person who answered the phone was extremely rude, and instead of cheerfully answering my question rudely responded "the same hours we are open every other day". Guess what? We took our business elsewhere. Wouldn't want to inconvenience your staff with our presence. read more

Unfortunately The food was so greasy I had to pick through the hashbrowns I was able to get down the eggs but the sausage was unbearable even my dog didn't want to eat it. and I put it on the floor for him and he refused it. Unfortunately they don't take the cooking very seriously. You're far better going off one of the nearby restaurant jimmy johns or Quiznos. read more

Stopped by here on our way back from Utah. This place is conveniently located inside the gas station right by the I-70 freeway on/off ramp in Fruita, CO. It's a restaurant inside the gas station, which was kinda rare for me. The BF and I shared a Club Sandwich with Onion Rings and a cup of soup. The soup of the day was Beef Vegetables which was delicious! On top of that, the soup was around $3 but you get UNLIMITED REFILLS!! Who gives unlimited refills on soups these days? Not only was it tasty, you get however much of it you want for the same price! I really like their club sandwich because not many places include bacon, turkey AND ham anymore.. usually I get either ham and bacon or turkey and bacon at local eateries. That was a plus. The Onion Rings were fried to perfection, not soft or soggy but hot and crispy. The girl who works there was super friendly and the food came fast! I would definitely stop by again for some unlimited soup next time I drive by! PS - They serve breakfast all day and they are known for their biscuit and gravy! read more

I took my family out for an early lunch. We ordered cinnamon rolls with our meal. The waiter didn't bring them out until we were almost done. He carried two out and told us we could only have one because they were out. He gave the table behind us the other one. We were seated and had ordered our food 20 minutes before they were even seated. How is that fair? On top of that our cinnamon roll was nasty. It was dry and had hardly any glaze on it. I am pretty sure it was old and sat in the kitchen for a few days. I will never go back there. They lost my business for good. I would not recommend that place to anybody read more

This is my gas stop on every trip back and forth from Denver to Vegas. It's has a subway and a small restaurant. Although I never have tried the restaurant , because we travel at night. It also has big bathrooms and showers. My only complaint is that it's always freezing in there, seriously we're talking parka type cold. Never heard of this classic joint and while I love diners, this didn't even seem like that from first glance. More like the side of a truck stop. But our experience was top notch. Even at 7:00 am our server Kathy was genuine and friendly. The $5.00 egg special was perfect - some scrambled eggs are beaten and tossed into a cold plate, but not here. Carefully folded with a giant helping of hash browns. And the best part? HOMEMADE RASPBERRY JAM! I could have mainlined this stuff - cafes at three times the price can't touched this little cup of deliciousness. And another best part? Bottomless pancakes. Which I fully intended to take advantage of, but large, satisfying proportions made going back for seconds a silly pipe dream. Great coffee, outstanding service (thanks Kathy), and great home-style touches. A perfect diner experience and a best-kept secret. But hopefully not for long. read more

We ate here twice, once going to our Cabin in Jasper and coming back. We had biscuits and gravy and the green chili breakfast of hashbrowns, scrambled eggs and green chili on top. It was to die for both times. Wait staff were great. Coffee filled continuously. We will definitely go back. read more

Waited over 30 minutes after they said it'd be 10, one Belgian waffle special was missing the eggs and bacon, and the burgers had soggy buns. Top this off with no plastic silverware available on our to go order and the bathroom (in the connected gas station) having no soap- with a typed sign saying shortages meant they were out (his is June... soap is readily available...) and it is not a restaurant I would recommend. read more

Never again..... the food was awful. Service was awful. Dirty tables, dirty silverware, dirty cups. Servers were unbelievably rude and let us know we were bothering them when more than half of our order was wrong and we had to literally go to the kitchen to find someone to get the rest of our food. Not one plate was half finished because the food was so bad. We used to come here all the time and it was wonderful and the staff has always been amazing. We will never return. read more
