The location is excellent in a shopping mall on the south side of I70. The interior decor is up to date and welcoming, but still has the fun signs Rib City's are known for. We were greeted and seated promptly by the server. The server was personable and welcoming as she took our drink orders and explained the lunch specials. There are many specials on the menu, but there are also specials on the table sign and the chalkboard sign as you enter. We always get the fried okra, and it was cooked perfectly as always. They are also serving fried pickles now. We each ordered the lunch special of a Pulled Pork Skyscrapers with 2 sides for $12.99. I got the green beans and fries, and my husband got the mac and cheese and baked beans. The pulled pork was delicious as always mixed with the NC vinegar based sauce and a side of coleslaw that goes on the sandwich. All sides were also good. Service was top notch the entire time. Special notes: whatever the seasonal cheesecake is GET IT! It is homemade and amazing. We got a slice to go, and it was enormous! The flavor this time was blueberry. So, so delicious! They also have a happy hour special on drinks and 1/2 off apps from 2-6 on weekdays. We will be back to this location frequently!

That being said, I am always happy with the quality of the food and portion size given the value and price. The ribs are my go to. It's a chill laidback restaurant with a countryish down home vibe. The service is always friendly and smiling. They have some good specials too. I think the only thing lacking is the type of sides or maybe the quantity of options for sides.

They also stopped giving sour cream and guacamole with fajitas or chimichangas which is annoying. I prefer the other El Mescal location for ambiance and consistency but this place is good when it's good. The inside of this location is kind of meh outside of the bar area. It's usually pretty empty inside. Service is always friendly but sometimes takes awhile.

Wasn't too bothered by it as I get it I've worked in fast food before and it can be annoying when you get a rush right before close. Just thought she should be more professional. Finally we get upfront to order and find out from her they are only doing cups and cones because they "closed 12 minutes ago technically". They wouldn't even let us add any toppings on it. We still enjoyed some ice cream but definitely were disappointed being that we wanted other things and were there almost half an hour before closing. If you're gonna serve the rest of your customers on site before closing at least fully serve them. Also management I would recommend doing some simple coaching with these employees on professionality and such around closing. I get it I've been there myself but you still have to serve the people in your place to the best of your ability before it shuts down. That's just food business.
