Heavy on the Parmesan

I ate here three times during a recent visit to Grand Junction. And let me tell you, I look forward to returning one day. This is the kind of spot I wish we had in San Diego. Owners are Shervin and Maria. Sounds like they have family in several parts of the U.S., including California and the South, and also have strong roots in Grand Junction. And thankfully for the locals, because this has got to be some of the best Southern fried chicken and catfish in the state. I love that this is a family owned spot run out of a food truck that roves. They may be downtown or out near the Tractor Supply off of Highway 6 and 50, or at regional festivals and other events. Be sure to give them a call before you head over -- and you can place your order by phone as well. Which is a great idea. This food is fresh and can take 15-20 minutes before it is ready. My favorite is the catfish. Massive serving with a light, well-seasoned batter and served hot and very fresh. I could not believe you can get two large fillets and sides at only $21 -- pre-tip. That is an amazingly affordable price. I recommend fries (also a huge serving) and also the mac, which is both cheesy and a bit sweet. And check the menu for supply. They also have chicken, sandwiches, (very flavorful) wings and tenders, mash potatoes, sweet potato pie, greens, etc. Shervin and Maria, and one of their sons (who was helping out during one of my visits), seem like a lovely family who care deeply about Grand Junction and the food scene. They are very much local, while also open and welcoming to visitors. I look forward to seeing them again.

CURRENT MENU. Prices have gone up since some menu pictures were posted.

Great food!! Great staff!! However, it takes time to cook, so you should call and place your order ahead of time. It can be a little of a wait depending on a number of things. Usually they are at the Tractor Supply, so to-go only depending on where they are.

We went here after recommendations from a local living in Clifton. He had said that the place has…read morewonderful sunset views on the deck, but it was too hot to sit out there when we went. However, the inside was gorgeous with tall windows and nice decor. You walk into the Maverick hotel and go the 4th floor to get there. 3 out of the 4 of us in our group ordered the Shakshuka, which was flavorful and delicious to soak the sourdough into. I recommend over easy or over medium for your eggs on this. Served with feta and sliced avocado on top. We also got the avocado toast with smoked salmon and were pleasantly surprised to see that it came with entire filet of salmon for only an extra $6. We were expecting a few slices of salmon, but this was great! The fresh toast was ordered for the table. I found it to be a 7/10. Loved the peach inside, but was underwhelmed overall. If you're a group of 4 maybe consider getting the fresh press coffee, which our server recommended we do. Perfect serving size for us, but if your group drinks a lot of coffee just get the drip. Chalee was our server, and she was wonderful and kind. AC was BLASTING, if you run cold bring a sweater.

We arrived at 8:30pm and there were plenty of tables available. The restaurant is beautiful. We…read morewere seated and the server informed us there was no sourdough bread. This was confusing the me since that's what they are known for and it did not look like they were busy. Oh well. We ordered the caprese salad, the chicken paillard and broccolini. The caprese salad had nectarine and pecans. It was seasoned well and was a good sized portion. The chicken dish was delivered and I was a bit disappointed in the size of the chicken. This was a small breast with wing. It was not enough to split. The broccolini was cooked well and was tasty. While the food was presented well and was as described in the descriptions, I felt the portion sizes were small for the main dish and the money charged. This was an okay meal for me.
