The food is solid and the portions are great. The sausage was really good. I am giving it 3 stars because the service was slow, the waitresses seemed busy but just weren't attentive to their tables. Maybe they were understaffed? It is a convenient location so it was busy. Prompt service and attention would bring the rating up!

Cute little hole-in-the-wall type diner we stopped in while passing through Grand Junction. The service was great, our waitress was extremely attentive and made sure we had everything we needed! The food came out very quickly which was awesome. I had the Ham and Cheese Skillet. Could have used a little more flavor, but I dumped picante on it and it was yummy after that! Sourdough toast was buttery and perfectly toasted! My husband had Randy's 7 something and said the sausage was outstanding and pancakes were so fluffy and delicious!

I love "smaller town" diners. Sometimes I hit gems. This is close. Despite what others write about slow service, that was not our experience. We went at 1 pm on a weekday. Seating was immediate. Service was prompt. We got our beverages quick and the food shortly thereafter. We had burger and grilled BLT with turkey and bacon, side salads. Very good, though I can never understand why people serve iceburg lettuce. Worth a stop. We will return.

Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Curly Fries

There are two Randy's Southside Diners in the greater Grand Junction area. Both are locally owned and operated by the Emmons family. One is on Highway 50, the other is on Business I-70 in Clifton, on the east edge of Grand Junction. Randy's Southside Diner in Clifton is in a former sports bar. This results in an unusual, but very pleasant seating arrangement. The interior is like a stadium, with three levels of seating. The width and length of each level makes it tough to jam in a lot of tables. Fortunately the owners decided to not fight the architecture and the result is a spacious table arrangement providing some distance, privacy, and reduced noise level from table to table. Upon arrival we were seated promptly on the middle level. The restaurant was about half full at that time. The menu is extensive with a wide variety of selections of breakfast, lunch and supper dishes. We chose a Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Curly Fries and a bowl of Homemade Beef Vegetable Soup, and Randy's Southside Chicken sandwich with a Dinner Salad. The grilled cheese had a nice amount of American cheese (other types were available), nice chewy sourdough bread, and a tasty buttery crust from the grilling. The curly fries were crispy and tasty. The soup was rich, dense, and loaded with beef and veggies. The grilled chicken sandwich was a nicely grilled marinated chicken breast with a moist interior. It was coated in a chutney, in this case a sweet tangy sauce reminiscent of "duck sauce" at a Chinese restaurant. And it was topped with jack cheese before being placed in a good sized bun. It was saucy enough to be messy to eat by hand, easy to eat with knife and fork. The combination of the grilled chicken, the sauce, and the bun, was very satisfying and a change of pace from other chicken sandwiches. The dinner salad was basic (chopped lettuce, chopped tomatoes, shredded cheese and choice of dressing), but was generous and went well with the sandwich. Stephanie was our waitress and was a delight. She was attentive, informative, and paid attention for opportunities to make suggestions or offer things such as Ranch dressing for the fries and extra napkins for the sandwich. Her professionalism and good sense of humor added to the total experience. I am looking forward to going back and trying their Ground Round -- 8 ounces of ground steak wrapped in bacon, grilled and topped with grilled onions. Sounds delicious!

Have had only one meal here, but it was great. I had the ground round meal. I asked for it to be cooked medium rare. I'd say it was more like medium, but it was juicy and tender (sometimes burger steaks can be more like leather, this one wasn't). It was wrapped in plenty of bacon and topped with deliciously grilled red onions. It was served with Texas Toast (meh) and a choice of side. I had a perfectly fine salad, with dressing on the side (didn't even have to ask). The service was excellent. I found the waitress to be fun and informative. When my husband was going to get a BLT, she said - really? You don't want to try the BLATT (a BLT with turkey and avocado). Now, you could take this in a bad way - reading what I wrote. But, with her personality and inflection - you just had to laugh. And - he got the BLATT and loved it. Atmosphere is very relaxed. Service was quick and the food was very tasty. Ground round may not sound exciting - but the flavor was there!

If you're a breakfast burrito lover (I sure am), this will likely become one of your regulars. They do mini burritos called the "Lil Richard," and a humongous one (good for sharing) called the "Big Richard." Everything's made to order after you walk up; a short wait, but worth it. They use great ingredients like crisp bacon and tater tots, plus they add zesty New Mexico green chile. And each burrito is grilled on the outside with melty, toasted cheese. They serve 'em up with a tangy green salsa. This is a local, family run business, and there's love in the food. They felt like it was hard to find a really great breakfast burrito in GJ, and they deliver it. Their dog is the mascot -- the original Lil Richard. I also like Alarado alot, but these are different, definitely their own thing. Alarado's burritos are a single, standard size and have a good bit of green chile or gravy inside. Lil Richard's has the two sizes and are a bit more savory and less saucy. Both are great in their own right. So swing by on the weekend and order a full-flavored breakfast burrito you won't forget!

Make sure you get three for $17 because these burritos are child size small. Love the flavors but the prices are too much for the value. Typical GJ
