This was such a wonderful experience. We were immediately greeted and seated. Our server was Nerea and she was incredibly sweet, and was attentive and followed up often to ensure we had everything we needed. We ordered the Southwest steak Caesar and the Asian chicken salad. They were out of carne asada, so we ordered it with blackened chicken instead. They also offered us a complementary dessert because they were out of the steak. They totally didn't have to! Not at all what we hoped for. I tried to get in twice last year and it was booked even tho tables were open we were told they were holding them for reservations. Fast forward 1 year. I book the reservation 3 weeks early. We get here 15 min early- at least 10 tables open and we were told we needed to wait until our reservation time to be seated. Seats were open in the bar so we just went there and stayed. Food was mediocre- not sure what people are comparing it to when they rave about it? We had: pork green chile (mild/ok but not great), pierogies (again, ok but not great), ceasar salad (ok but I had a chunk half the size of my hand so it comes from a bag) and the black and blue pasta with steak which was actually pretty good but steak portion is maybe 4-5 oz. Probably won't come back - too many other choices. Thought it was special based on reviews but I would not say it was special. Bartender was great tho - not at all engaging but she was a busy lady and was on top of everything. As a final insult - I received the exact same auto-reply from the manager within seconds of my review. They clearly don't give a crap about feedback or customers and the Manager does nothing based on your feedback. 2 experiences 1 year apart - no change. read more

Spent the night in Grand Junction on my return trip from Colorado this past weekend. I wasn't expecting much especially since I've driven straight by on I70 a thousand and one times and have never had the inclination to drive into town. That's on me. My hotel was a very short walk on Main Street from all of the hubbub of "downtown" GJ. I arrived late on Saturday, so nothing was open except for restaurants and bars. The hotel concierge provided me a with a few recommendations and I walked out the door with no expectations. I was surprised by how walkable the area was ... Colorful lights illuminated the night and art installations lined the sidewalk the entire length of Main Street and there were quite a few people meandering about. I wound up at Rockslide specifically because they had a few more unconventional "lighter" items on their menu. Bar service was welcoming and I had a beer in my hand within thirty seconds of sitting down. For dinner I had a mushroom appetizer and their Ahi Tuna Bowl--Both were excellent. Sidenote: the Ahi was seared to perfection. Great beer too! Surprisingly good and I won't hesitate to return should I find myself in Grand Junction again on another trip. read more

The Korean bbq had a nice zing to it and then top it with the fresh jalapeños and it warmed things up quickly. Fries were typical nothing special. On a road trip across country made a pitstop in Grand Junction. Chose this brewery because of its location and outdoor seating due to the fact that I had my pup with me. It wasn't an issue. We just came in because we were hungry. Didn't look at reviews first and were pleasantly surprised. We started with the cheese bites (I was too hungry and forgot to take a picture). They were garlicky and amazing. I got the Rigatoni and the portion was large. My husband got the Carolina hot wings and they were amazing. We couldn't eat it all (we wanted dessert. Our server was Maryah. She was on top of it, when we asked for To Go containers she also brought us silverware and a bag to carry it in. My wife and I had a great dinner out in the front patio area. The beer tastes just as amazing as it did 20 years ago while I was in college at MSC. My Philly cheesesteak was delicious. We just moved here from Delaware, 20 minutes south of Philly. It seemed ridiculous to order a cheesesteak in Colorado. But I had a really good feeling. And I was correct. Rockslide made one of, if not the best, cheesesteaks I have ever enjoyed!! My wife got a chicken sandwich that had a delicious sauce on it. Better than the food was the peaceful patio atmosphere with a gentle breeze coming through. So happy that Rockslide is still killing it on Main Street!! read more

Visiting Colorado National Monument and wanted to find a nice place to eat and have some beer. The people at the Visitor Center recommended this place. I yelped it and it sounded good plus free parking behind the place on the weekends. We went late afternoon after walking along Main St. They seated us right away and the place had nice atmosphere. My husband ordered 2 beers. The Badtrout Stout and Cold Shivers and he liked them both. Also was happy hour so they were cheaper. They are well known for their fish and chips but with salmon. Also got the Bison Burger. The salmon was really good, not dry and there were 3 pieces and some coated fries. The bison burger also came with fries. We shared it and totally enjoyed it. I normally do GF but I had to try it. It was worth it. We saved room for dessert and had the apple bread pudding which is huge with 4 huge slices. I just wanted a scoop of sorbet and he gave me a huge bowl. I guess I should've said something. Not something you can take togo. Otherwise service was great. Place is clean and easy to get to. Kudos to the people at the Visitor Center. They have a great menu and wish I could've tried some of their drinks but I was the designated driver. It's been a while since I have been to Grand Junction to partake in their brewery scene and I believe I haven't ever been to the downtown. It's cute but is parking metered extensively and without a shadow of a doubt. So a walk was in store which was perfectly fine to this fine restaurant from a non metered area. It was fine because it was a lovely early Autumn day. Once I arrived at Rockslide and got seated I decided to get their Ahi Tacos. The fish was sesame crusted and had a delightful salsa to go along with it. I had their Mexican Lager, Clara to accompany my dish which was a great match with my lunch. A pleasant first experience with this restaurant and brewery and worth considering making a return to for whenever I am in the Grand Junction area again. read more

My Husband and I went out to dinner with a few new friends, a group of 9. We Walked in and the group all got together and within less than a minute our table was seated. I was not expecting to be seated so fast on a Friday. Our servers were quick to start us off with our drinks and surprisingly our server was new and training (he seemed too experienced!) within 5minutes our order was taken, I say our food was ready within 30 minutes. Food was great, I ordered the burnt ends Mac n Cheese and my husband got the mojo burger. They also have kid friendly meals especially for picky littles like my daughter! Still Amazing After All These Years! Just wanted to give a big shoutout to Rockside -- they're still the best! We visited a few years ago while in Grand Junction and had such a great experience, so we made a point to come back. Happy to report that nothing's changed -- in the best way! We stopped in around 6:00 on a Tuesday night and were surprised at how busy it was (a good sign!). If we'd known, we might've waited until 7:00 for a quieter time. But honestly, even with the wait, everything was worth it. Dinner was excellent. She had the soup and salad, and I went for the Fish 'n Chips -- which were not only delicious but all-you-can-eat! We came in for lunch on our way through town. Back in the early 90's I worked as a server at The St Regis Hotel and restaurant and was showing the building to my son and saw the Rockslide Brew Pub and went in for a bite. I spent 20+ years in the hospitality industry and managed many different concepts from Dave and Busters to The Cheesecake Factory, to The Chart House and at Ruth's Chris Prime Steakhouse. The priority of the manager during peak times is to support the staff in every position and table touching to build and support your network of guests assuring great service and great food to make their experience a positive one for repeat loyalty. What I saw the manager do today in the earlier examples is extremely rare, which blows me away still to this day! You have to build, nourish and support your guests needs, and it is dynamic and you must engage with them constantly. Guests like to feel appreciated and valued and like most living things, they can sometimes be high maintenance and need their egos stroked. I cannot stress enough the importance of table touches abd building loyalty to their brand, and this bearded manager exemplifies these values and traits. Food was fantastic!! I don't know how long this restaurant has been in business, but from my perspective I can see a bright future, considering even franchising with this concept! Bravo team, you nailed it! read more

The atmosphere is that of a stereotypical pub. Parking in the lot behind the restaurant was free on weekends which was a great surprise. We made a lunch reservation which they let us update to an hour later than originally schedule so, they are flexible. I ordered a medium bison burger and it came out well done. My friends had the shrimp tacos which they enjoyed and Wow was the shrimp huge. She had to take a piece out just to close the taco. The other person had the BBQ flat bread which was a specials. I tried it and found it a bit spicy either jalapeños and red onions. I also thought it could have used a bit more BBQ sauce on it. Overall, a nice establishment but nothing specials. read more

A really cool old retail space with good food and service. They have a good selection of beers. I went with the Alpenglow Hazy IPA and it did not disappoint. I had the bison burger with sweet potato fries and my son a bacon cheeseburger with regular fries. Great, fresh tasting burgers and crispy fires. I came here twice in my monthlong visit, and I was pleasantly surprised! I actually worked at this restaurant as a hostess when I was in high school, and I remember everything coming straight out of the freezer and into the fryer. Practically nothing was made in house and it was really overpriced. So I actually never came back to Rockslide as an adult, because I figured it was the same. However, I visited once for dinner and was blown away. I had the rockslide dip (french dip) and it was honestly one of the best french dips I have ever had. The beef was perfectly seasoned and tender and the au jus was so flavorful. The second time I got a salad which was also outstanding! It was fresh, a plentiful portion, delicious and fillling. Business was brisk, probably due to the nearby courthouse. We slid into a booth and perused the menu. The Main Street Club ($13.95) beckoned with turkey, ham, bacon, avocado, lettuce and mayo on artisan bread. All sandwiches are served with your choice of salad, fries or sweet potato wedges. Both my brother and I selected the sweet potato wedges, which were fantastic. My sandwich was great, too! My brother chose the Cuban ($13.95) - pulled pork, ham, jalapeno-pickle-slaw, mustard and Swiss cheese on a house hoagie, which packed the kick he wanted. Servings were ample, so we skipped dessert. Enjoyed a Friday evening on the patio watching the activities of Main Street and the warm spring air. Ordered a Coco Cabana which was one of the best cocktails I have had in quite awhile. Began with an order of eggrolls which were very tasty, and even though I'm not a huge fan of spicy, the habanero pineapple salsa was a great dipping sauce. I was going to try the Mac and Cheese, but someone else ordered that so I got the Carne Asada Taco Bowl and I'm glad I did. I enjoyed the bites of mac and cheese I had, but the Taco bowl was full of flavor and very filling.
