Our last night in Moab was spent at the Spitfire Smokehouse. To start, our server was awesome - he was the bartender, but when we were placed in his section, he happily waited on us. He was willing to help us choose and was very attentive to us. - The food was hit and miss. I ordered the three meat option. The brisket was superb and was the only one of the three I would probably get again. The chicken was ok, but way too stringy. I understand that it is "pulled" chicken, but it was so fine that I felt like it negatively effected my enjoyment of it. The tri-tip was probably the weakest of the three options. It was just too dry and less flavorful - which should not be a surprise when compared to a fattier meat like brisket. The meats also came with two sides and cornbread. The cornbread is a huge pass - the bottom was also wet in nature - and I wish I would have gotten the hushpuppies instead. For the sides, the mac and cheese was good and the fries were ok. The food came out in (I kid you not) less than 3 minutes. Nice if you are starving, but definitely a sign that all of the food was simply warmed up and not very fresh. Great spot to grab some bbq! After spending a long morning in canyonlands, we were starving and this place hit the spot. They have a decent variety on the menu, if you don't want a bbq platter or sandwich they also have salads, bowls, tacos and a few side/snack options. We both went with two meat platters. I tried the pulled pork and the tri tip, with coleslaw and potato salad for my sides. My partner tried the pulled chicken and brisket with double Mac n cheese. Platters also come with hush puppies. I really enjoyed the tri tip, and the pulled pork was nice as well. My partner favored the brisket. All of our sides were good and hit the spot. Portion sizes were large, so I definitely could have just done a one meat platter and still probably wouldn't have been able to finish it. For sauces, they brought some to our table and I tried the house bbq, mustard bbq, North Carolina vinegar, and Alabama white. I mostly used the house bbq but enjoyed trying them all. Something for everyone. There is indoor and outdoor seating, we enjoyed the patio area. They also have a bar section if that is more your speed. We ordered at the front and they brought our food out when it was ready. Service was nice. Clean restrooms. Overall I'd recommend stopping here if you're in Moab. read more

From outside, you can smell the delicious scents of barbeque, luring you in to get a taste of the smokey goodness. I found myself following my nose inside on my most recent trip to Moab. The ordering process was quick and the food came out even faster! I can't say that it's the BEST barbeque I've ever had, but it was decent. My wife said that the bread/banana pudding (I forget which) was not very good-maybe something that came out of a can. I appreciate that they have both indoor and outdoor seating and everything was clean. I tried to bus my table and a cheerful staff member came out and took my tray from me. Spitfire was located directly behind our hotel so we gave them a try for dinner. The restaurant has a fun industrial type of look. The staff were helpful but not the friendliest people we've come across in Moab. We ordered the pimento cheese appetizer which came with tomato jam, crisps and carrots and celery. I had the half slab of ribs platter and my husband had the platter with two meats - sausage and brisket. My sides were the mac n cheese and cole slaw. Platters also come with hush puppies, pickles and pickled onion. I found the menu to sound better than the food was. The hush puppies were dry inside and the ribs were very fatty. We stopped by for dinner on a whim since our first option was closed due to maintenance. The food was not good... the sides were very sub par and by sub par... horrible. On a roadtrip and walked the Arches then stayed overnight in Moab. Walked around the town and found this place for dinner. We found this place on Yelp, and called ahead of time to make sure it was dog friendly. It totally is and they even have doggy bowls for our furry family members. *Roberto* was amazing and we hope he gets a raise. He went above & beyond to help out one of our kids that got hurt in their bathroom. The cashier was also great as he got a bag of ice for our daughter, but I didn't catch his name. Okay okay; Food was great! The side and Mac and cheese was pretty lack luster, but everything else was pretty good. Their house sauces made a lot of the food better, and we were pretty hungry. The pulled chicken sandwich was good with the slaw added on it (I got the slaw on the side). The pulled pork was also good and there are several different sauces on the table so you can add as little or as much as you want! The staff was super friendly and answered all my picky questions about the food. We could watch them cook the chickens in a huge rotisserie in the side of the restaurant. We wish we could have designated the tip we left to him. He was also helpful when we left. We found out you order at the counter and then the food is brought out. I was surprised to see her badge said she was the manager. I went to order and Isabele stared at me like I had two heads and didn't say a word. I finally just started my order. Midway through she stared off into space and didn't get the rest of the order. Then she began talking to someone else. I had to redirect her to the fact that I was ordering. While we were eating, I looked up and she was at the counter eating from a bowl. I teach food handler classes. That's a huge "don't do this" The food was mostly good but don't order the potato salad.
