This restaurant is known for their Eggs Benedict, Swedish Pancakes and their thick bacon. We ordered 2 of these items and agreed with the recommendations. The Eggs Benedict are really so delicious. They use a non-traditional hollandaise sauce which, amazingly amped up the flavor of the eggs! And the eggs were perfectly made so that the whites were thoroughly cooked and the yolk was runny. Odd, but this is a difficult thing to get in a restaurant. The meal was served with delicious home fries where the potatoes were moist and flavored. We also ordered a side of their thick bacon, which had a bit of a different flavor - very nice. The bacon was perfectly cooked. We took a chance on the egg scramble, which had lots of promise with the many ingredients listed, but the eggs were overcooked and dry, so the other ingredients couldn't compensate. They served the eggs with a very nice bread for their toast. We almost didn't come here as we only saw the side of the building, which was a very small house looking structure. But as you continue down the street, you can see that they have expanded their restaurant to include the dining area: an "inside" area and a patio area. All of this new structure is glass or plastic windows, they have heating and cooling to accommodate for the time of day and they did a great job of making a pleasant eatery. Everyone we met at the restaurant was pleasant and kind. It was such an enjoyable time. We have a few more days in Moab, so we will be back. read more

Jailhouse is apparently an institution of Moab. It was a good breakfast/brunch place for what we wanted. It was good but not super special. Mostly typical eggs, omelets, pancakes and waffle. I saw best eggs Benedict claim here so I decided to try it since I am an eggs Benedict snob. I came at 10 am and was seated immediately, there was no line. I asked for extra hollandaise sauce as the chorizo was a little overpowering and I couldn't taste it and I love some good hollandaise. Ok hands down I have to say the hollandaise sauce was amazing. The Jailhouse cafe is a true historic site to Moab. Its menu consists of a Santa Fe flavor in its western style breakfast menu. The staff were really nice and friendly. They don't make you feel rushed to finish your meal, although busy. The Jailhouse has a bit of seating but there is additional seating that is covered outdoors. UPDATE: my husband saw a waiter pour someone else's left over coffee in the coffee pot!!!!!!! Food was classic American breakfast type, potato's could have been cooked longer were kinda hard. Other than that pretty good and basic. Services was not as good as the food. We were promptly seated and the actual building is really cool. It's a mix of indoor, outdoor and open air seating. It took forever to get someone to come to our table and to get coffee. I came in and had the Southwestern Eggs Benedict. It was really good and cooked perfectly. I loved the taste of the unique chipotle hollandaise sauce. The downside was the lack of coffee refills and very inattentive service. It seemed like the server just expected our business and didn't need to try to provide a good experience. The salad and the french dressing was very fresh and amazing! We also had their hamburger with bacon, which includes shoestring french fries, which was also very good. We had a very nice glass of Napa, Alexander Valley cabernet, which was a great complement to our meal. My burger tasted like fish as I'm sure was cooked with salmon burgers that my party ordered. Fries were soggy and I just did not like that. They may have some better options, but my wife ordered two eggs scrambled with sausage and it came with hash browns(I had already eaten, so I just had coffee and the coffee was good). The order cam out faster than we expected that it would, and it looked and tasted like it came off the buffet line for breakfast at a hotel. Powdered eggs, round sausage patties and the same type of seasoned hash browns that you get at a hotel breakfast in the morning. Not that this type of breakfast is not OK, but its not what we expect when we go to a restaurant that has "famous breakfasts" on their wall. The jailhouse Café is a popular restaurant in Moab. It's worth checking out. I would say they are most famous for their bacon, so be sure to get that as a side dish if it's not included with your meal. I got the waffles, but they were out of their mix so they did something different. There is only parking on the street, which was a little frustrating sense downtown. Moab is crowded. I tried to use the restroom twice and there was a line both times which was also frustrating. I would definitely go back and maybe try something different next time. read more
