After a full day of hiking, we landed at The Broken Oar Restaurant hungry and wiped out...and wow, did this place deliver. Everything just worked: laid-back atmosphere, big portions, and seriously good food. The staff were fantastic--welcoming, attentive, and added to the overall experience without missing a beat. I had every intention of taking photos... but the second the food hit the table, that plan disappeared. We went straight into "eat now, talk later" mode. Two words: Fried Pickles. Food and service were excellent!! Environment was cool! Mostly, I was super impressed when the staff went above and beyond for us! My son accidentally left his dental retainers and they got bussed off the table. We noticed about 30 minutes after leaving and when we went back and asked about them the manager put on some gloves and started searching through bussing bins to find them. We were so incredibly grateful that they were so helpful!!! We had a wonderful experience here. We timed it good for a Tuesday night. We got there around 5:45 and they were able to seat our party of 6 outside right away. I was worried about the outside seating, but they have very large umbrellas and port a cools and it was very pleasant. The wings appetizer was great. The service was great. We were seated upstairs, which was actually cooler than the downstairs dining. We got the IPA and Pilsner on tap, and enjoyed them thoroughly! My husband ordered the sweet potato fries, which I was glad to try, but found the caramel sauce, cinnamon sugar and lemon zest closer to breakfast food than dinner! We split the beef shoulder medallions (rare) southwest style (grilled onions & mushrooms) and enjoyed the tender meat. The skin-on mashed potatoes went great with every bite and roasted asparagus paired well with both. Service was excellent, all our questions answered efficiently and recommendations were spot-on! Tried Broken Oar with my wife as we were traveling through Moab. We had Shay as a server and she was great. I had the ribeye steak and my wife had chicken Marsala. While my steak wasn't the most tender cut I have ever had,, it was cooked as requested, tasty and plentiful. My wife really enjoyed the chicken Marsala. It was also plentiful and was one of the best she has had. Shay was great with recommendations on our meals and made suggestions on some local sights. She was very efficient and personable. We had the best early dinner of our roadtrip at Broken Oar. After hiking all day at Arches National Park, the food, the service and the ambience was exactly what we would have wished for and more. We've got the sriracha and lime chicken, the sirloin, cheese curds with Miranda sauce, strawberry-orange lemonade, and peach iced tea. No exaggeration - all were incredible. What made it better was the top notch service. The hosts along with our server, Melissa, were so kind to us and our plant we brought into the restaurant b/c we didn't want to leave it in our car. I spent a couple great days in the Moab area hiking and enjoying the national parks around the area. I had a craving for a steak so after reviewing local restaurants on the web I went to the Broken Oar for an early dinner. I arrived at 4:30 right when they opened and there was a line waiting to enter already. When I left a little over an hour later the place was packed. From the outside the wooden building looks more like a lodge than a restaurant. The interior is a big open space with log walls and ceilings. It has a small second floor seating area as well as a patio. The menu is listed as "Casual American" with steaks, seafood, pasta, barbecue, burgers and sandwiches. It doesn't have a full bar and only offers beers and wines. My server was Vinnie and he did a great job of recommending beers and coming around enough to make sure I had all I needed. I am hard of hearing so because of the open space design I had trouble understanding Vinnie and he was very patient in repeating his answers. I ordered a glass of "Last One Down" beer which was not too hoppy and very good. I ordered the Surf and Turf which was an 8oz sirloin steak paired with three white shrimp. The meal was delicious and not over filling but left no room for dessert. The meals are a bit on the pricier side, my meal was $39.00 but well worth it. If you are in Moab and looking for a very nice restaurant with lots of food options I can highly recommend the Broken Oar. read more

Last night I dined with my husband and two male friends on the 2nd floor. We ordered beef brsket, pulled pork and onion rings, fish and chips with onion rings and the other fish and chips with the sweet potato fries. Our waitress was Shay and she said, "I loved my Job" I asked why and she said she loved her customers. She greeted us with a smile, refilled our water dishes , and made the evening suberb. Pulled pork and the prime rib was the best I have ever had . My partner agreed and the left overs taste just as good the next day. I can easily see why a local referred me to them. We went to dinner with another family so there was 7 of us total. Shay was an amazing server and was prompt to take orders and got our complicated requests spot on. She offered great suggestions and continued to check in on us throughout the dinner. When though the restaurant was busy our food came out quick. We had cheese curds, boneless garlic buffalo chicken, buffalo wings and portobello mushrooms. Dinners were chicken parm and burgers. We all had food left over. It was absolutely delicious. This might be the best "outside of a national park" restaurant I've ever been to. We got their famous sweet potato fries for an appetizer. It was just the right amount of sweetness. We ordered the pork chop, ribeye and a burger that the hostess recommended. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. Staff were spot on - friendly and attentive. Also loved the creme brûlée cheesecake. Wanted to go back again tonight, but they're closed on Sundays. Would highly recommend! read more

We've eaten here many times as we frequently visit from Colorado. Our server was ShayLynne and she's the best. However, the food was just ok. So for almost $100 including tip, we'll eat somewhere else from now on. I had the chicken marsala and it came in a couple of pieces very thin. Fabulous log building and great decor, convenient moab location. Other reviews were positive so we gave it a try, and disappointingly, we didn't have the same experience. Very nice server and hostess but Ribs and brisket were dry, small little container of sauce didn't help, famous for their sweet potato fries topped with cinnamon sugar and caramel sauce (eek/awful). $35+ entrees served on aluminum foil sheets atop a 1/4 cookie sheet pan that adds aluminum bits to your meal when you use a knife or fork. I'm sure there are better restaurants as this was mediocre at best. Sorry :( read more

Very friendly. Great service. Salmon was good. A little overcooked for my liking but the sauce was great. The roasted potatoes were undercooked. Some were almost crunchy undercooked. They would have been great if they were cooked until crunchy but not raw crunchy. My wife had burger and it was fine. Not as good as the place downtown (trail something). The fries were crap. This was an amazing find. Exceptional service (there were at least 7 families in front of us and somehow they got us in 25 minutes like they promised). Shay was our server and gave the best, spot on recommendations. All of the food was good (hubby had one of the speciality burgers, I had a wonderful fish dish-begins with "B" and the kids had the children's chicken and fries). I was looking at the Honey Sriracha Lime Salmon and our server steered me the daily fish special, the Barramundi which came in a rich lemony sauce with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Husband had the Beef Medallions which he was happy with. We shared a bottle of Pinot Noir and took the rest back to the hotel with us. Great atmosphere here with both locals and visitors alike. Everything seemed OK when I arrived. They have a cute log cabin type decor, and a diverse menu with some healthy choices. I was seated right away and greeted by my server almost immediately -- he was friendly and checked back frequently. BUT: even though it was a cool evening, staff left the restaurant doors standing open! NO. I felt cold throughout my meal and my food cooled off quickly. Kitchen was fairly slow. Broccoli and their house specialty sweet potato fries were fine, but my barbecued pork was not good; it was mostly burnt ends. Also, they were playing very loud music! Even with my earbuds in, I could hear their music and could not hear my content. Good service does not make up for an unpleasant atmosphere and only adequate food. read more

Came here on recommendation of a friend who visited last week. They have so many options to choose from. Shay our fabulous waitress so personable ..as was everyone else ...recommended the pork chop however after such a long day of driving and wanting something not so heavy we opted for her fave burger the miners cabin. We eat burgers twice a week normally and yet this one was special and found myself taking off extra onions lettuce etc just to savor the delicious burger with cheese and bbq sauce alone since it was the best tasting meat I can remember eating in a burger! They specialize in bbq so maybe that was the answer.
