We stopped at Proper Brewing in Moab and had a great experience. I ordered the Vienna Lager and a margarita (called the Johnny Utah) along with a Caesar side salad, while my husband ordered a side of fries--and those fries were amazing! If you like crunchy fries, this place nails them. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the space is huge-half of it is set up as a restaurant, while the other side is considered a pub, where you can order drinks without food. Since we were hungry, we ordered food anyway. The bartender was friendly and attentive, and the hostess even brought Luna a treat, which made her day. We stayed inside so Luna could cool off before heading to Arches National Park. The only downside for me was the margarita, which was far too sour for my taste. Still, the overall vibe, great fries, and pet-friendly attitude made this a solid stop in Moab. read more

This place is awesome. They have so many different styles of beer that are so unique and I really respect that they are experimenting with new things as a brewery. If you want to try any of them you do have to pay 50 cents which is a bummer but it is Utah after all. I loved their juicy IPA and we all decided to get dinner so I had the hipster veggie burger and I genuinely think it was one of the best veggie burger I've ever had. It was crispy and veggie filled and so delicious with the toppings and sauces. The fries were also really good especially with their house made sauces. My friend got the kale caesar which was also amazing, highly recommend. This place is a little outside town but totally worth it and service was great. Proper Brewing was awesome!!! Delicious beer (blizzard hazy pale, the hazy ipa, dark Mexican lager) at good prices and the brewery had a very cool design/vibe. Fun bar area, lots of indoor seating with AC as well as a really nice shaded outdoor area that is dog friendly. Ashley and Enrique working the bar were so nice, we enjoyed chatting with them! They had fun games to play, and we bought a couple "make your own" 4 packs (beers to go were mostly $2.5, solid price). Didn't try the food but it looked tasty, especially the buffalo wings. Free parking lot plus overflow lot on other side of fence. Highly recommend Proper Brewing, we had a blast. Moab Brewery may be right in town but Proper's beers were a bit better imo ;) - it's absolutely worth visiting! read more

We were passing through Moab and needed a dog friendly place to eat. We love a good dog-friendly brewery! On a Friday night we were able to be seated on the patio right away. Our server was attentive and very kind. He always asked if he could pet my dog each time he came to the table and I thought that was nice. After a week of vacation I was in desperate need of a salad. This kale ceaser salad hit the spot. I thought the zucchini pickles were interesting - I liked them but I can see where some people may not. But my salad was perfect and I'd definitely get it again! Food was below average - burger was not seasoned and the salad dressing was advertised as green goodness but I have no idea what it was, the added chicken was dry, and the red onion was cut in huge chunks. Location was convenient but the inside layout wasn't special. Where they failed the greatest was with service. It started well with Maddie taking our order and offering suggestions but then a table of 4 entered the part of the bar we were in. After that, both servers in the bar were swooning over that table and ignored us. The male bartender stood with his back to us most times he was in the room and walked out without checking on us. He checked in on us once and I asked for another glass of wine that was never brought to me. The only time the male server came back to our table was to have us pay. We were recently in the area and stopped in for dinner after a long day of driving. Proper Brewing and Burger has so many tasty offerings to satisfy most food and drink needs so it was the perfect place! The service great and friendly and very helpful too! We were a little hungry but trying not to over order so we got some chips and queso to start and our orders came out shortly afterwards. We got a Proper style burger, and a Sundance kid burger and both were perfectly done and oh so tasty! We also got a salted caramel porter and a dunkel buck which were both delicious! There was plenty of parking out front but we walked over from our room. The staff were helpful and friendly and adequately came to check on us throughout our visit. If we had more time in the area, we probably would've stopped in several more times! The next time we're in the area we're definitely coming back! We hope others will stop in to check them out too! I went there not super hungry, so I ordered a tomato soup. It was very thick not really a soup. And the toast what it looked and tasted like, they used a kitchen tool which they used for other foods. Service is friendly and welcoming, with beer knowledge and the ability to chat with customers. Beer selection- long and diverse. This isn't a "we mostly do IPas" or "check out our stouts" kinda place- this is a want a stout, sour, IPA, or some obscure style like a dark lager?. I had 4 very different beers and they were all good, some great, and all world's better than the beer down the road. I had an awesome time and I will be back. They don't have balloon animals but they do have a Johnny Cash impersonator on staff that can pull of a good Sinatra if you have different taste. Love that little perk. read more

After 2 disappointing, expensive Moab dinners we decided to give Proper a try. Wow. These are burgers from heaven! My house made vegan black burger was not only the best I've ever eaten, it was perfectly cooked with nice crispy edges. Husband's Moab burger was also fantastic. Ingredients are high quality and the bun almost has a brioche like quality. We also had tomato soup, probably the best we'd ever eaten. All this for far less $ - AND we had a beer flight here but no alcohol at the other spots. We loved it so much, we went back the very next day! Stayed next door so this was a super convenient dinner option. Plus, we could bring our dogs. Our server was awesome. Super attentive. Nice guy. The food was meh. We had poutine which did not have cheese curds, a proper burger and a Johnny Utah. They were all just ok. More importantly, this place is RUN DOWN. I don't think anyone from corporate has visited this year. There are tons of tall weeds in the parking lot. The patio is just a mess (see photos). There are even beer cans in what should be the water fountain. Over all not impressed. Will be dining elsewhere for dinner the remainder of our trip. read more

We ordered the pretzel with jalapeño cheese and hot honey mustard; the Sundance kid burger, and the hipster veggie burger. The beers arrived and were good - that was the only thing that was good. The pretzel arrived quickly but it was cold, served with plain cheese and grainy mustard. There was no salt on the cold, dried out pretzels. Very disappointing, not what the menu described. Not hot honey mustard or jalapeno cheese. Then after 20 minutes the server came by and asked how everything was, we said good, just waiting on our food. He said- be right back with that. Then came back a minute later asking us what we ordered. We told him and he said it would be right out. I get it, they were training new people and maybe he forgot to put in our order. A few minutes later he arrive with our food - not good. Both of our meals were cold. The burger was dry and over done, my veggie patty was burnt. Fries were cold. It was very disappointing. Came on a recommendation from family. The staff was less than personable, environment was awkward, and seating layout was confusing. The beer served was unique in our perspective. The food, worse than the gas station. We have never seen chicken wings so big, that tasted like the frozen Tyson wings at the grocery store. When the woman cleaning tables ask if we wanted a box and we declined she grew angry and disgruntled towards us. Sorry we didn't like your food? She spoke Spanish and so did our friend so she didn't speak to him again. Our friend wound up sick shortly after and 24 hours later still doesn't feel too hot. I've gone to Proper Burger at their SLC location and really enjoyed their food, so I was excited to see them open a restaurant in Moab. This time, I tried their Kale Caesar Salad and it was delicious! My partner had the Proper Style Burger with the Mexican style corn ( of which I tried a few bites) and it was a nice addition to the meal! Their best food, however, was the waffle fries! Some of my review I know is out of their control but they could make some changes to improve. The liquor laws in Utah make a good brewery experience challenging. The tap beers are all 5% or less, which is fine but theirs were tasteless. It was also extremely loud in there. They could have outdoor seating or something but lots of tables are. Rammed in a small space. We had 2 beers, 2 cocktails, a coke, nachos and fried pickles and our bill was 95$. They automatically added gratuity. After an amazing 4 mile bike ride along the Colorado river, we stopped at this brewery after with 8 kids and 12 adults. The staff quickly accommodated our huge group, we had a wonderful spot on the back patio. The service from Connor was fantastic and he made us laugh several times. The food was so good. Delicious! Ummmmm. I'm torn. I really like finding the good for my reviews, but this one is difficult. The food was great but the service and environment was so sketch, that I don't think I'll be going back. First up, totally lose my man card because I ordered a garden burger with a light beer. BUT - the burger was damn good. Crispy and flavorful and the bun was spot on. Fries were scrumptious and the beer made me happy...once it finally arrived... Yep. Incredibly slow service - perhaps due to watching our waiter hang out in his van behind the restaurant. Odd. He kept disappearing, and there he would be chatting outside. Once he finally appeared he blamed the slow service and drink delivery on the bar being busy. However, my party was the only one in the restaurant. Odd again. HOT. Don't know if they were having AC problems or they just don't have it - but the day I was there it was sweltering in the restaurant, and the smell of the bathrooms was pungent! The restaurant also has a dark and uninviting feel. Again, food was great but the environment made me uncomfortable. Maybe I just visited them on an off day - so give them a try if you're not as puckered as me. read more
