Service in the bar area is quite slow. Staff is nice, but they seem understaffed unfortunately. Since we were at the hotel, we went a few times but unfortunately food-wise there is a lot to be desired. We really didn't enjoy anything except for the cheese curds. The texture was nice and crispy, and the inside while cheesy was also airy. Nachos needed more toppings and guacamole was turning gray. The burgers and the fried chicken sandwich we had were fine but nothing I would order again. Beer selection was limited but good and they had fun local drafts. Steaks done perfectly and sides fresh and hot. We ordered their version of crème brûlée for dessert. I do not recommend it. Otherwise it was a great meal, priced per a tourist town. I recommend it. I confirmed ahead of time that they tend to undercook their steaks, so I ordered medium expecting it to come out closer to medium rare--but it actually arrived more on the rare side. Since I knew my wife wouldn't enjoy it that way, I asked for it to be corrected. When it came back, it was cooked to a true medium and not quite what I had hoped for. Unfortunately, the bigger issue was the lack of flavor. The steak itself was pretty bland, and we ended up relying on the asparagus sauce just to give it some life. Absolutely the Worst Dining Experience We've Ever Had Our group of 10 visited Josie Wyatt's Restaurant and Bar at Hoodoo Moab on a Friday night as part of a National Park Tour. We were staying at the Hoodoo and had a "VIP" dinner included in our package, which allowed us to order anything off the menu. Unfortunately, this seemed to signal to the staff that service could be neglected entirely since the meal was prepaid. We arrived promptly at 7:00 PM. It took 40 minutes to receive just five drinks--three were incorrect, and the waitress nearly dropped two on the table. We placed our full order at 7:45, and then waited another 40 minutes for appetizers that only partially arrived. Three Caesar salads were missing, and when they finally showed up, one was still missing. Main courses arrived at 8:50 PM, cold and poorly cooked--steaks were not at the requested temperatures. No apology was offered at any point. The waitress was clearly overwhelmed and inexperienced, and no other staff stepped in to help. There was no manager in sight, and the hostess gave us vague reassurances when we asked for assistance. This was hands-down the worst restaurant experience any of us have ever had. If you're considering dining here--don't. Especially if your meal is part of a package deal. You'll get the bare minimum, if that. Avoid this place at ALL costs. read more

Wife and I are staying at Hilton and had dinner at their on-site resturant (Josie Wyatt's Grille). We had Monday night special Prime Rib....best we ever had and we are 60! Service was also outstanding! What made the prime rib extra special was the head of garlic that was sautéed along with an onion! This is a hard place to review. Being connected to a hotel it serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We had both lunch and dinner there, but were not staying in the hotel. Lunch in the bar was okay, just chicken quesadillas. Dinner was soup, salad, and a spicy shrimp appetizer. The food was good and service good. We didn't test the steakhouse claim, but from just looking around, I didn't see an upscale steak restaurant, although the prices we paid for our limited lunch and dinner meals were up there with Ruth's Chris. The ambiance is nice, it has a nice bar and a pool side option. The menu is where issues started to arise. It was the fourth appetizer that we chose that they finally had in stock. The service was spotty all night. The fries were soggy and undercooked. We asked for a new batch and they were burnt to a toast. Maybe it helped that I was staying in the attached hotel, Hoodoo. We ate here several times (in-restaurant and room service). -- Food We didn't have a single bad meal here, but never ordered steak. The salads were consistently good, with fresh greens. Burgers were excellent, juicy, and hearty. the very best fries -- crispy outside, soft inside. Crab cakes were tasty and flavorful. Not the best I ever had, but very good. Jumbo prawns were also tasty. Breakfast avocado toast was tasty, if only one hearty slice of toast. Husband had the steak Benedict which was worth a try, though he wouldn't order it twice. -- Service At times sloppy and slow, but on average friendly and adequate. Not super fast, though. -- Portions No complaints about portion sizes, but we are not huge meal types either. Seemed to be enough food to go around. -- Ambiance Perfectly comfortable. Josie Wyatt's is a nice enough looking restaurant with an upscale vibe and style. After staying at the Hoodoo for three nights, we've been to the place several times for breakfast to give it a fair shot but it is undeniable that it just isn't any good, especially for the price. The portion sizes are fairly tiny, with a steak and eggs breakfast having a price tag of more than $20, with a steak less than the size of a small hamburger patty. Omelettes likewise are tiny and the ingredients look like they come out of a can. The pancakes are not served hot and it looks like they're not cleaning the pans as there was a lot of carbon and nasty flavor on the outside. The "ham steak" is just a 1/4" thick piece of lunchmeat. Also, the service was mediocre to poor at best. On our first morning, the food took more than 45 minutes to come out, the server did not refill the coffee, or check back with us. They weren't busy. This is not at all consistent with the price point or the image they're projecting at this restaurant. Did I mention they charge a 20% gratuity mandatory on to go orders? That seems like kind of a rip off to me. I was really disappointed because we really wanted to like this place but they just are not worth it at all and if you're on the fence go somewhere else in town. read more

The Sriracha Shrimp were excellent; small with a good crispy outside, tender inside, and full of flavor. The Brussels were cooked perfectly but a little bland and could have benefited from a spicy sauce or maybe balsamic glaze. But the Cilantro Hummus platter more than made up for that! The hummus itself was somehow both airy and creamy. And the cilantro flavor really added a burst of freshness. It came with some of the most amazing olives we've ever tasted. They were complimented with feta cheese. But the show stopper was the pickled peppers and other veggies. OMG! They were spicy and sweet and savory and salty and just perfect! Great pescatarian spread that made a delicious dinner. Update: Dined for breakfast twice now. The Big Breakfast was so good I ordered it twice and will get again during our trip! The eggs are cooked perfectly. The pancakes are fluffy and pillowy and packed with rich buttermilk taste. The potatoes are excellent. My husband got the Mediterranean omelette and loved it as well. 2nd Update: We grabbed the fish and chips for lunch on our last day in town and OMG. The beer batter they do in house was fantastic! It had so much flavor (brown sugar, lemongrass, etc.). I'm used to most fish and chips tasting like generic fried food. But these really had such a complex flavor profile. For starters I ordered the Brussel sprouts from the sides menu. Do your self a favor if you do not order it as a side dish to one of your meals, I recommend getting it as a starter. They served in a sauce and with cheese melted on top and packed full of flavor. I also had the Fiery Shrimp which had a nice flavor to it. For my main dish I ordered the pasta. On top of that they brought out plates that were missing items and then told us they were out of said item. For example we ordered a green chile omelette. They brought out an omelette but no green chile! I wish they would have told us before we ordered! Dinner at the bar was a compete 180. The service was great. Not fast, but really attentive. We went here for dinner after being told the steaks were great. Let's start off by saying their draft system was down. They actually don't have sauteed mushrooms to add to your steak, Seriously! Our steaks though pricey we're good and cooked to our liking. I still can't believe they don't offer mushrooms. I ordered sauteed Brussels and they were over cooked. Also what they offered as steak knives were a glorified butter knife. There was four of us and spent over $250. This is a beautiful restaurant. It is located next to a hotel. It has an outdoor sitting area that looks nice and indoors. I had the cilantro hummus. It did not have a lot of flavor. It came with different types of olives, asparagus, carrots, and pitta. It was very good. It was a good portion. I loved the olives. I ordered the Nice Pear. I think that's what it was called. A for atmosphere... A great setting with a bar and patio seating. This place feels LIKE it could really hold a BIG CROWD. THe patio is packed in the evenings and I think that's where the magic happens for JW. For breakfast, this place has potential and the food saved the day. The hostess was guest staring from the movie Clueless...I mean wow, earth calling! The service from our mid 50's rocker dude was great. He tried a bit too hard to be funny but I'll take that any day over the vacant state of the girl pretending to be a hostess. Food was great. JW breakfast was just enough and cooked fine. The biscuit is yum and the real standout followed by the breakfast potatoes. We get credit for being Diamond status with the hotel and decided to give it a shot. Jailhouse Cafe is still our favorite. Drink at the poolside bar in the afternoon are very nice though but that staff is once again the limiting factor here in a five star experience. Overall I would say it's a decent spot. read more

Pasta Jay's has never been known for "fine dining ". Especially in Moab. However, as they run the restaurant in the Hoodoo, they certainly prove they can do so. We had dinner recently at Josie Wyatt's and left knowing we will return. I had the filet, which was generously sized and perfectly cooked. I almost didn't need a knife. My wife had the prime rib, again prepared just right, and despite being the small cut, was huge. And delicious. The Brussels sprouts side was a treat. Service was far better than the norm for Moab.
