Brick X Brick moving is a 5 star company with a 5 star owner. After having bad experiences with two other moving companies here in Austin, who will not be named, Brick X Brick moving and Tim (the owner) were a breath of fresh air. The backstory: After a nasty divorce and the sale of the family home my mother, younger brother, and I were in a situation where we needed to be moved out of the house IMMEDIATELY. After weeks of moving stuff on our own using our cars, while my mother was trying to get a hold of a moving company that was not completely booked or uninterested in helping us move for some reason, we only had been able to move about two rooms worth of furniture and items out of the house. This was also due to the fact that the two other moving companies we used failed to arrive with trailers that were big enough to move a two-story house. The review: My mother called Brick X Brick moving after business hours and Tim still came out to help us out of a bind! When he arrived he took a quick look around the house, three-car garage and shop area, as well as the backyard and then the one-man army got to work. In no time Tim was loading up the trailer with what we had already packed and giving us tips on how to better pack what we hadn't packed yet. Tim even helped us pack stuff a little bit here and there, despite that the fact that the packing service is an additional charge. I think Tim helped us out there out of the kindness of his heart because he knew we were in bad situation as far as having to move out immediately. When we ran out of packing tape unexpectedly Tim provided us more with packing tape at no charge. When Tim noticed that it looked like I was about to collapse from a bit of heat exhaustion and dehydration he asked if I wanted something to drink. Tim gave me the options of what he had in his truck, and when I decided on what I wanted he gave me a vitamin water also again at no charge. Tim worked quickly and professionally while providing some much needed comic relief and friendly conversation to help ease the stress that comes with going through a divorce and moving out of the house that was your home for years. Once Tim had finished loading up everything out of the house, garage, and backyard there was still a good amount of room left in the trailer. I'm confident that if we had called Brick X Brick first Tim would have been able move us out of the house using that one trailer, to be fair Tim informed us that it is the biggest trailer they own! Once we were done and about to pay Tim we thought he had arrived at 6:45 PM when he informed my mother and I that no he had arrived at 7:00 PM. Now you could make the argument that 15 minutes wouldn't change the price much but his honesty was greatly appreciated. In conclusion Brick X Brick is an exceptional moving company with an equally exceptional owner who is one of the nicest guys I've ever met who seems to have a knack for pacifying angry people, in our case what were to be the new home owners and their aggressive movers. Brick by Brick moving is exceptional. I ran in to Tim at the grocery store 'cause we live in the same neighborhood. After talking a bit about that I happend to say I was moving from Austin to Branson, Mo and had trouble sycrdonizing a 3 car mover and a furniture mover. Lo and behold Tim is the owner of Brick by Brick moving. After much conversation I decided to give Tim a shot at my move 'cause he prides his company in being flexible and attending to detail. Well, I was about to test that. I was in the process of selling my house and buying another........at virtually the same time! I did not want to have to store all my stuff and rent a place where I was going and then look for a house. Well, with Tim's assurance that he could do this I proceeded, with the help of the selling and buying realtors, to attempt this. A contract was signed for my current residence and an offer and acceptance was transacted for the new house. To make a long story shorter, the closing on the new house was moved 5 times necessitating Tim to juggle loading and transportation dates in with his other moves 5 times also! We finally got it together and the closing on my house in Austin was 11/10/14 and the closing on the house in Mo was 11/12/14. Tim and his crew packed up the house, left the trailers full for 3 days and was at my new resicence in Mo the morning of 10/13/14! Amazing that Tim could juggle this and meet my requirements exactly! Also, I was moving 3 cars that are my babies. One of them moved a little in transit and Tim had assured me that he would take care of anyting that was not right. The car needed some minor body work and paint to repair it. And true to his word, I just got the car back from the body shop (took 2 months to find an acceptable repair shop) and it was repaired perfectly. Tim took care of the repair even tho it took me time to find the "right" shop. My experience with Tim and his employees has been outstanding and I would not hesitate to use Brick by Brick moving again anywhere in the US! I would highly reccommend Tim and his employees to anyone who had to move across town or across the country. These kind of folks don't come along very often in today's world. I do not typically write reviews; however, to not share my story, my praise, and my deepest appreciation for Tim, Brick by Brick Moving, would be a grave injustice to you. Those who are looking for the right company, you have found it. I was going through a very hard trial, and was fighting for my life. The reason folks move are typically either a positive, or a negative. Mine was a very sad, and unexpected requirement. Due to the nature of the move, I would not be able to personally facilitate the process at all. I needed a company that I could trust to take care of everything that is important to me, keep it safe, handle the lock/keys, and pray it all fits. I only had one chance. When I spoke with Tim on the phone, he put my fears to rest. He was attentive, helpful, and quickly became a trusted advisor for my family in our time of need. His process (padding everything/clean-up/care), integrity, and reliability sealed the deal. Alas, it was time for me to leave, two weeks later, my girlfriend and Tim would have full authority and responsibility to move my entire estate into storage without my presence. A few days after the move, I spoke to my girlfriend and she walked me through how the move went. She explained to me that some of my property wouldn't fit in the storage unit. Here is why I am writing this review: Tim, put the additional property into his OWN overflow storage and to this day, 20 months later (picking it up this weekend), has kept my belongings safe and secure. Knowing my financial state, Tim simply told me: "don't worry about the cost, just get back on your feet." I don't know what you look for in a mover. This man, this company, deserves your business. They deserve to be recognized for the way they continually bless people. These are the hands you want on your precious belongings, and the character of people you can trust in your home. Brick by Brick Moving is hands-down the BEST moving company ever! I've moved a few times, both locally and interstate, and this has been the best experience I've ever had. I was referred to them by another company because they not only move locally, but also anywhere in the USA. I spoke with Elaine, their initial point-of-contact, and she was both knowledgeable and delightful. I was going through a divorce at the time and wasn't sure how I could handle a cross-country move from San Antonio, TX to Buffalo, NY. She was incredibly helpful and compassionate. A short while later, I received a call from Tim Toomey, the owner. He and I worked out arrangements that meant I could be moved across the country with a full pack-and-move, he worked with me to find a way I could afford the move, and he even made an exception for me and my small dog to travel with them! Art, Brian, Tim, and Elaine were Godsends to me. They treated me like family, and they made one of the most difficult times of my life into a time of peace and fun -- not at all what one would expect during a move! They took exceptional care of all of my items -- including a functional spinning wheel, my large flat-screen tv, artwork, statues, and more. NOTHING was damaged. This last Saturday I was in a real jam after another moving company cancelled on me 20 minutes before they were scheduled to show up. I started immediately calling around, and got through to a gentleman named Aaron at Stars and Stripes moving. Anyway he was helping his buddy Tim at Brick by Brick, and said they would call me back shortly to see if they could help. Sure enough Tim from Brick by Brick Moving called me back within 5 minutes. He was very pleasant, professional, and understanding of my predicament. He said they could help me out that afternoon. He was scheduled to come by at 1:30, and although it took a little longer to finish his previous job he kept me updated to their progress, very professional! Once they arrived Tim did a quick survey of the house, and then it was all business. With exception of a few well deserved water breaks these guys were like couple of well oiled machines. Although they were working hard, they also had great attitudes. Constantly joking, and keeping the atmosphere light. Again don't take that to mean they were unprofessional, to the contrary as I already said they were extremely professional. They padded the doorway, disassembled, and reassembled the furniture that needed to be. The only thing else I can say is that these guys were top notch, and I was extremely satisfied. Amazing Service. Professional. 100% Reliable. Hire Brick by Brick Moving NOW! A medical emergency abruptly returned my daughter home to New Jersey from Austin Texas. Unfortunately my wife and I had no moving company contacts in Austin. So like many others we relied on the internet for information. After reading the Brick by Brick reviews on Yelp... I called on a Sunday around 7am with the intention of leaving a message on an answering machine. Instead, Tim Toomey answered the phone and he could have not been more pleasant and professional. During this phone call Tim was hired. Over the next few weeks we stayed in touch about the job and at the conclusion of every conversation I'd ask him if he needed a deposit. His reply was always the same..."when the job is done and you are smiling you can pay me." Granted this was not a huge assignment, so I can somewhat understand why he did not need a deposit, but his warm hearted nature and trusting demeanor was genuine and authentic. Having moved six (6) times in the last 20 years we know moving can be very stressful. Without a doubt our best moving experience was with Brick By Brick Moving. From start to finish Tim Covey and staff at Brick By Brick were wonderful executing what is hopefully our last move to our new place in the country west of Lampasas, Texas. I have used Brick by Brick Moving Company, specifically Tim Toomey, 4 times in the last 2 years. I am not referencing easy moves either. I am talking lots of potential problems; furniture too big to fit through doors, frail pieces of furniture and irreplaceable antiques, boxes (packed and unpacked) galore, and lots of breakables. Everything that you can possibly imagine to make a move difficult. Tim always took the time to make sure my furniture was protected, packaged, and moved safely. To complicate matters, Tim new that I was going through a very rough situation, and besides using expert technique and a lot of strength, he helped me "move" through a very difficult time. I am so grateful for his help and willingness to go above and beyond to get everything just right so that my life was made easier. Tim made a potentially negative ordeal into something very positive. Recently we moved from a location in Southwest Austin to a nearby apartment also in Southwest Austin. We had Brian and Miguel help us with the move. The men showed up within the time frame they mentioned and got started working right away. They worked quickly and efficiently. They were thorough with the move and made sure all of our valuables were wrapped well and taken care of. After getting everything in the trailer, they took a stop at a local gas station, which added on about a 30 minute stop. We were SO happy to find these men did not charge us for their stop. This showed their integrity and honesty while working for Brick by Brick Moving. They unloaded all the stuff quickly and while my boyfriend and I did help they offered to take whatever was in our hands. We were just so excited we wanted to help and not go over a two hour time limit. For two hours we got charged $270 which we both felt was a great price for their work. Let me preface this by saying I have moved 7 times in the last 10 years. Each time, I've experienced some property damage or loss. I'd come to the point where that was just an expected part of the moving experience. Brick by Brick has changed my perspective! Brian, John and DJ packed and moved me over the weekend and it was, beyond a doubt, the best moving experience I've ever had. They were prompt, pleasant and conscientious. When I asked them to be extra careful of the floors and walls in my new house, they not only took care, they helped me add felt discs to the bottom of my furniture. I finished unpacking last night and can confirm that none of my items were lost or damaged in this move. In addition, the office staff at Brick by Brick was fantastic. I scheduled this move rather last minute and added on packing service just a couple of days before the move. They took it all in stride and were so nice to deal with from start to finish. This is the second time I've used Brick by Brick moving (about the sixth time I moved), and I am continually AMAZED by their service. Quick, efficient, cautious, affordable, courteous, and thoughtful... everything you want from a moving company. I am always stressed out by moving. Who isn't? Tim and his company make it as stress free as possible. From asking for a quote, booking the reservation, down to actual moving day they are 100% available. They took time to do a walk through before loading and unloading at each property. If they were in doubt, they double checked before moving anything. When packing up my closet (at the last minute), I was offered wardrobe boxes they keep on had for folks to borrow! When getting to the new property it was muddy and rainy, they laid down extra boxes to keep from tracking mud in and even made cardboard cut outs for the furniture legs to keep it from scratching the floor! After calling several company's Saturday evening and Sunday morning Tim was the only person who answered the phone. I talked to him a couple of time that weekend and he was super accommodating and professional. I wasn't sure how We were going to get this move handled but we needed some help. The guys at Brick By Brick came to our rescue. Brian and DJ showed up Sunday afternoon and worked on the giant task we had for them and followed our plan. They moved our things to three different locations and they just charged us a flat hourly rate no extras. Even though we really didn't have our plan completely worked out they adjusted to our needs as we went along. Not once did they take a break or complain about anything and my wife and I have some big, heavy pieces of furniture. Two men did the work of at least 6 and in half the time. I had the team of Brian and Tim G. for my move. I was moving after 19 years in the same house. These guys were unbelievable! They were professional, careful.. all of the things that you would expect. They were also very in tune with my feelings and where I was energy wise with this move! Tim worked with me last minute from the bleachers of his son's basketball game ...talk about service! I needed a couple things moved to my 3rd floor apt that were too tall/heavy for me to carry solo. He hit up 3 different teams to find someone to come through in between jobs (already helping the good people who planned ahead). It would have made the most sense to turn me down or give up after the first call to his guys who didn't have time. Not only did he find two guys to come through, but he let them keep all the cash I handed over without taking a cut. This is an awesome company! We moved for the first time in 12 years and I feel like we couldn't have chosen a better company. Tim and his crew were absolutely fantastic!! Process: Tim came out, did a visual inspection and gave us a quote for the entire pack and move to be done over two days. Elaine helped set up the date, time etc even though our date was initially tentative due to closing on a new home. Tim and his crew arrived on time on day 1 and finished the entire packing at the exact time Tim had stated. Repeat on day 2 with everything being moved and unloaded as promised.
