This past week, I got a new job and I had one weekend to move. My original mover canceled on me and I was frantically looking for someone who didn't charge me an arm and a leg for a last minute move. Tim (owner) promptly gave me a quote and was willing to work with me on the price since I was on a budget that my new company gave me. The communication with him the day before the move was great. He kept me updated on his status and he even drove up to Dallas late Thursday night to move me out of my place at 7am sharp. I was already SO impressed by his willingness to go ABOVE & BEYOND by driving in the night before. Once I arrived in Austin an hour or so after Tim, Tim was right around the corner to unload my belongings. They had extra boxes and supplies on hand for things I couldn't pack up myself. Brick by brick beat the competition by being honest and properly protecting our floors and house from damage, despite them being a few pennies more than other companies we checked with. The company Two Men and A Truck wanted to charge us to protect our home from damages caused by their employees, where as Brick by Brick automatically includes things such as floor and banister protectors. I am a Professional Organizer and I have been involved in a many moves in my 13 years in business. My client chose Brick by Brick Moving as recommended by a friend. The owner, Tim Toomey, came out and assessed her move which was complicated, to say the least (a rent home and 3 storage units while her new home was being built in a country club area. We have been in an extreme drought for months - and then torrential rains started about 10 days before the move, with flooding the day before the move. We went forward with this 2 days of moving. These guys took such incredible care by securing each and every item in a way that nothing ever got the least bit of moisture on it. They used a system with 3 guys outside in the rain, 2 guys inside unloading in sock feet as to not track mud inside the owner's home. Despite the home not being 100% complete and there being other contractors all over the home and the movers having to dance all around them, they were cheerful throughout the whole experience. They interacted with my team of Organizers with so much respect. And what's more, he stuck to his original bid; he was spot on with his estimate of expected number of boxes and supplies for the job (where clients have paid 3 times more with other movers). Brick by Brick was super easy to work with. They responded quickly to my Yelp message and were able to set up a time on the day I needed to move. Although they made it to my apt outside of the window they gave me they took the time to call me and let me know why they were going to be a little late and let me know exactly when they would be there. Once to my apt they moved quickly and I was very comfortable with having them in my house and moving my personal belongings because of how friendly they were! When we arrived at my new place they made sure to put everything exactly where I wanted and checked to make sure I was completely satisfied with everything. Two very unassuming men (one being the so very nice owner) show up with a very large truck, to say I was concerned was an understatement. To my complete surprise they KILLED it! They were amazing, did their job and did it very very well. Packed that truck like a Tetris pro and unloaded it without a scratch or bump. Moving is the worst no matter the situation, but when your able to ditch them (left the husband) and head to the grocery store in the middle of a move, you know you've hired the right company. They don't work by the hour, so it's a flat fee, you get them as long as it takes, and that was a selling point. Recently we moved from north to south Austin. Part of that move also required us to empty a storage facility in Georgetown. I chose to use Brick by Brick for moving from house to house but chose a cheaper company to move items from storage: a refrigerator and miscellaneous office and living room furniture, but no boxes.Brian and John were professional and super industrious. John and Brian look like professional weight lifters first of all. (I'm not saying that to be creepy, but only to make the point that brute strength actually makes a huge difference in how smoothly your move goes. I witnessed it first hand. If someone's strong they don't drop stuff and break it. There wasn't a guy in the other crew that looked like he could bench press any more than I could. I felt a little cheated and taken advantage of. It shouldn't be a hobby. The other guys didn't seem too bright or especially caring either. Even though there were more of them, they were slow and sloppy and seemed to think every time they dropped something, it was funny. John and (Brian didn't waste time and were never sloppy and worked 10 times faster than the other mover with his larger crew). So, did I save any money, really? John and Brian did more heavy lifting with less effort than the other crew who were slow, and made a deep ugly dent in my brand new 2,k refrigerator. The economy mover also broke a handle (which shattered the glass facade) of a chest of drawers. Brian and John had to assist the 5 skinny, guys on the other crew and ended up moving my refrigerator into the fridge space themselves as the economy crew insisted it 'wasn't possible" to lift the refrigerator. I was ready to give up, too, after I saw them ram the refrigerator into the counter top and scratch it .John and Brian took over and easily lifted it above the counter,and slid it into space. Also the equipment Brick by Brick brings makes a huge difference. Walls and doors are completely protected. There was not one scratch on anything they moved.They are THE NICEST, most pleasant guys, too. They were concerned about helping me (a widow) and ended up even packing items for me to help us make it out of of the other home in the timeline needed This went WAAAAY above and beyond. You don't SAVE money going with a cheaper company. These guys were awesome, they're worth every penny. read more

We moved from an apartment in Cedar Park to our newly built home in Lago Vista. We had just moved to the apartment from a large home Phoenix AZ just 3 months before so we were cramped and not completely unpacked before we started. We have two small dogs that go nuts when people are in their home and when there are changes in their routine too so after moving so far I knew it was going to be stressful (plus my husband & I are no spring chickens!). Anyway, the house closing dates kept changing and other personal business issues came up so I didn't have time to pack or organize or anything. Nicole worked with me on email for 3-4 weeks before the move date. She answered my questions super quick (even late evening and weekends) and let me change my mind on what to move, how many boxes they should provide, whether I needed them to pack some, etc. She sent four of her best guys (Oscar, Jose, Ventura and Eric aka Mogli) so I was all set !! They called before they came and waited an extra 30 minutes because we weren't ready. All four walked the apt with me to go over things that were different, fragile or important to us. They wrapped and loaded everything in record time (and started in our master closet & bedroom so we could put the dogs in there to be out of the way). It was 95+ degrees and HUMID that day but they never stopped moving and picked up all of the extra wrapping and tape as they went. The unloading was even smoother and I thought with four guys I wouldn't be able to have certain things (especially boxes) placed exactly where I wanted them. But once they were done getting everything in the house and putting some of the furniture back together they patiently allowed me to go through each room to have them adjust the furniture placement and move some boxes to other rooms or in to closets. I could go on but this is about 10 pages so I will stop !! Thank you all !! read more

I would not recommend Brick by Brick to anyone. My move was to have taken place over two days. I was to be packed the first day and moved the next day. The movers did not arrive on time, they were two hours later than what I had been told. I was assured that they would be able to move me in one day. I was told they would be out of my new residence by 6:00 p.m. the day of the move. They left my new residence at almost 9:00 p.m. There were two movers, one of which did not show up at the new residence to help unload and set-up my furniture. Neither my mattress or box springs were covered during the move. In addition, instead of both men moving the mattress and box springs, one put his hand through the lining of the box springs and moved it by himself. After searching I have discovered that I am missing a notebook full of recipes that I have collected over 30 years. Recipes which unfortunately cannot be replaced. I am also missing two gift cards from Starbucks. (I realize I should have put these in my purse, so that was my oversight.) There were several items that I have been unable to find. I was quoted a price and was told that irregardless of how long it took to pack it would not be over that price. Well the price I ended up paying was over twice what I had been quoted. Therefore, I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

I wish I could give them more than 5 stars......which for a moving company is saying something. Tim, David, Brian and DJ were FANTASTIC. I honestly can't say enough nice things. They were FAST, extremely considerate of my things, hard working, and took pride in their work. As a testament to their thoughtfulness, I went to put up my son's growth chart in his new room, and written on the tape was a note "Measure 67" from the ground to have the same measurement." The movers went so far as to measure the growth chart so that I would have it hang at the same height in the new house. Seriously. I wouldn't have even done that myself! And that's only 1 example...they did thoughtful things like that throughout the process. If they pack you, you use all their boxes and packing material at no cost to you. You hold on to the boxes as long as you need, and then Tim simply comes by and picks them up when you're done. So great!!! I'm surprised by the comments about them being "not cheap." I called 4 companies, and they were the least expensive! So much so, that I added in packing and unpacking services to my move! My 2 small kids and I moved across town and we did not pack 1 box. It was beyond easy. Our piano, elliptical, trampoline, office equipment, full kitchen, 4 bedrooms....not a glitch. Nothing broken, nothing lost. As stressful as moving is, Tim and his team made it seamless, and were always thinking of how to make it easier on me and my kids. For any move I ever do in the future, Tim is the only call I will make. read more

Stop looking for movers right now. Sure that sounds a bit bossy but if you want it done, done right, on time and within budget then stop. I am a diligent consumer when it comes expenditures like this. I contacted four different companies, they all looked at the same house and were all given the same scope of work; Pack my crap and move it from San Antonio to Denver. The quotes I received from the "moving" companies were, quite frankly, ridiculous. I called Brick by Brick, told them my budget and Tim was able to do it for that. Had he not been able to meet that number I am certain he would have very professionally explained why, not gouged me for it and I would have hired him anyway. Not a single thing was damaged or misplaced. Let me repeat that part. Not a SINGLE thing was damaged or misplaced. All too often we simply concede to some level of damage during a move. Not with these guys!! Tim's guys were great. Brian was awesome with my 3-year old. My son said he was his new friend:-) DJ was an absolute work horse and Tim was great in keeping everything moving despite some mechanical issues with his truck and trailer. I have never used movers before and was apprehensive about how it would go since I am particular. My experience with Brick by Brick Moving was very positive. I have a feeling that this company is as good as it gets. They work hard and efficiently and did a great job loading the truck in a manner that did not waste space and also protected furniture. We arrived at our destination with no damage. It is clear to me that the movers are professionals. They knew how to move furniture very well. I learned a lot just watching them. I also appreciate that they had a cheerful attitude while doing their job and made me feel comfortable that they were doing their job well. I like the way that Tim, the owner, does business. I like it a lot. I found Brick by Brick Moving on Yelp. I called them and left a message. Tim called me back within minutes. He asked me how long I thought the move would take. I told him that it'd probably take about three to four hours, and that I wanted the job to be capped at X dollars. Tim agreed to cap the job at X dollars. On the day of the move, movers David and Daniel--the dynamic duo--showed up on time and ready to go with a large and neatly organized trailer. I have moved plenty of times and have hired quite a few different movers. I was never more impressed than I was with David and Daniel. Not only did they move all my belongings efficiently and carefully, they did so with a smile the entire time. They also wrapped everything that needed to be wrapped, such that none of my hundreds of items got damaged. It was clear to me that these guys are professionals who take much pride in their work; not the average mover you find on Craigslist. The move, through no fault of the movers (and mostly because I didn't pack a couple of things properly), took over four hours (approximately 5.5 hours, to be more definitive). No one asked me to pay additional monies, and no one complained that my initial estimate was off. I was asked to pay X dollars, and that is it. To not have to haggle over the specifics was, to say the least, refreshing. All in all, if you are in need of a mover, you should consider Brick by Brick. They have the process down, and at least I could not be more satisfied. Tim will be the first guy I call whenever I need anything moved. We had these guys move my 85 year old grandmother from Lockhart to Southwest Austin(Circle C). The amount of delicate antique furniture my granny has collected over the past century could keep a fire going for roughly 40 years. Though the sentimental value is greater than anything, its worth is that of the GDP of a small European country. Did I mention it's heavy af? I let them know before hand that my granny is pretty feisty and would possibly try and move everything herself if we hadnt threatened her multiple times. Well these guys wrapped everything, I mean everything, in blankets and plastic wrap. I'm surprised they didn't freezer seal it as well in case of a flood. When I say these guys went above and beyond that is an understatement. Not a single thing from a 3,500sf house and a 1,000sf garage shed was broken. I was beyond impressed. Not to mention that they were very reasonably priced. These guys are awesome and I hope to never have to move my granny again but if I do these guys will be 1st on my list; I'll burn the place down before moving her again. I cannot explain what an awful experience working with these guys was. They broke or damaged most of furniture and still haven't compensated me a year later. I'm not sure they actually even have insurance as they claim. I hired them to move me into storage while I was looking for a new house and the guy in charge that day was in a huge hurry, and didn't want to wrap anything. I literally had to argue with him to plastic wrap white upholstered furniture. They ended up leaving parts of my bookcase from DWR in the front yard. Thank god I found them. Then they stacked my stuff sky high in the storage unit despite my constant pleading with him to just use all the space I had rented. I was afraid of what they might have damaged and didn't want any deniability, so I hired them again to move me into my new house. Of course, my antique porcelain patisserie table handed down in my family had not been wrapped and was broken (despite me telling them specifically that had to be treated carefully), almost everything was dinged. I offered to only claim for repair (for what could be repaired) and even got estimates from the place he recommended. The owner, Tim, said repeatedly he would take care of it, but hasn't. It's been almost a year. I bet the other recommendations are friends. read more

I actually didn't end up using them as a moving company BUT I called in a rush to try and get them out on a Sunday afternoon during SXSW (no previous appointment) and the guy on the phone was great and tried to call all his movers to try and get me moved same day. He ended up finding one mover who would do it but in the meantime my boyfriend found a back up plan. Great, trustworthy company in my opinion though! Would use or recommend. read more

Tim and his crew are the best movers in Austin. They take pride in their work and they really helped me get out of a jam with my move with late notice on the weekend in Austin. They were very flexible too I changed times on them and they were still able to move my stuff and put together my beds and all my other furniture. They never changed the price on me at the last minute either. I had PODS deliverd to the house as I moved from Columbus Ohio to Austin Texas. They came at 5pm on a Saturday. I have a 4 bedroom and 3bath home with beds in every room. I was relaxing on the couch by 7pm. They loaded the furniture and put every room together in two hours. WOW! read more

These guys were amazing! I called for a move on VERY short notice and Tim managed to fit me into his schedule! I was amazed at how quickly and quietly they worked while taking great care of the items even though everything (A 2 bedroom apartment) was being donated to Goodwill. Once they got everything to Goodwill with my husband they said that they wouldn't be able to take everything and it was pretty important that they took everything and quickly because we had to be moved out of our apartment that day. My husband was very grateful that Tim let the goodwill employees know that everything we were donating was in good condition and urged them to take it all. Goodwill accepted everything except 2 little kid slides! Brick by Brick Moving went above and beyond to make our move as easy as possible.
