DO NOT HIRE SIMPLER MOVING!!!…read more **Use the services of Simpler Moving if you have a lot of money and don't want any broken items paid for after you've paid for their services.** Luke, Stephen, and Sawyer were very polite and easy to work with... while packing things. Luke and Stephen then unpacked everything as requested, putting things where I asked, which did save me the hours of unwrapping all my things, freeing me from breaking down all the boxes and dealing with all the packing paper. *Keep in mind* I knew going in that I had hired one of the most expensive movers out there, but I had to move very quickly so had little choice. HOWEVER... When I contacted Luke, then later Layne the owner, after I found a broken clock, a ripped duvet cover, and I realized the tape used to keep my earrings from falling out of my earring pocket storage display had ruined it (removal of the tape left a sticky residue I couldn't get off even with Goo Gone) I was IGNORED COMPLETELY. Then, Layne promised it was so a mix-up and my money would be refunded back on my credit card I paid with originally. Still haven't seen that money. This was after I had written a GLOWING review (which they did respond to, go figure).  I included photos of my destroyed items. I even sent screenshots of exactly where replacements could be ordered including each replacement cost. Total reparations only came to $106.19. Considering I paid them $3,421.80 to move and unpack for me, I can't believe Layne is so cheap that he is SIMPLY avoided paying for so little, and so easily. Sure wish I could get back even some of the extra tip money I overpaid. It would easily cover the cost of my things.

And the truck arrived with 1/3 of it open and all the bins dumped over!!! They busted a full jug of laundry detergent all over our stuff and ruined shoes and some furniture. I will say the guys (not firefighters) were kind...just young and not trained on how to treat other people's things. The warning here is to supervise the whole process. I came around a corner and they were casting my fishing poles and swing my clubs...goofing off. I have called management and no one has contacted me to even apologize.

The owner, Tim Toomey, came out and assessed her move which was complicated, to say the least (a rent home and 3 storage units while her new home was being built in a country club area. We have been in an extreme drought for months - and then torrential rains started about 10 days before the move, with flooding the day before the move. We went forward with this 2 days of moving. These guys took such incredible care by securing each and every item in a way that nothing ever got the least bit of moisture on it. They used a system with 3 guys outside in the rain, 2 guys inside unloading in sock feet as to not track mud inside the owner's home. Despite the home not being 100% complete and there being other contractors all over the home and the movers having to dance all around them, they were cheerful throughout the whole experience. They interacted with my team of Organizers with so much respect. And what's more, he stuck to his original bid; he was spot on with his estimate of expected number of boxes and supplies for the job (where clients have paid 3 times more with other movers). Tim (owner) promptly gave me a quote and was willing to work with me on the price since I was on a budget that my new company gave me. The communication with him the day before the move was great. He kept me updated on his status and he even drove up to Dallas late Thursday night to move me out of my place at 7am sharp. I was already SO impressed by his willingness to go ABOVE & BEYOND by driving in the night before. Once I arrived in Austin an hour or so after Tim, Tim was right around the corner to unload my belongings. They had extra boxes and supplies on hand for things I couldn't pack up myself. First of all, Matt was great at scheduling, giving an estimate, and answering questions. But since he didn't have anything to do with the actual moving process...I can't really say it mattered. I moved from a one bedroom in west philly to a center city apartment- pretty simple. The guys showed up late ~ 20 minutes late. I met them in the parking lot of my building because they couldnt figure out how to park their MASSIVE moving truck on their own. I came down and they were smoking cigarettes next to their graffiti covered vehicle. It took them at least another 15 minutes to actually park and come up to my apartment...where they realized they forgot the dolly. So they went back to their truck and couldn't find it...because they forgot it. So now we are about 45 minutes past my start time and they begin moving things... My mom and I actually helped them bring boxes to the elevator to bring down because we were already so far behind schedule. The process would have been so much faster if they had not forgotten a dolly, and I would not have felt like I had to help because I was paying for them to carry one box at a time down my hallway. Matt had told me that the crew would be able to give me a ride to the new apartment, and when I asked them they laughed and said "ummm there isn't much room but if you don't mind smoking then fine" I hate smoking...so I got a cab. When I got to my new apartment they arrived more than 20 minutes after me...smoking again. I had asked Matt if I needed to get them a parking permit for my new street because I knew my location was zoned- he said no it was fine. Then of course the crew got a parking ticket and whined about that while they moved my stuff into the new apartment. They chipped the side of my dining room table and snapped the hanging wire on the back of a large piece of wall art. Nothing else was damaged. The whole day sucked. They were unprofessional and unprepared. I really don't enjoy paying people by the hour to smoke cigarettes. I called Matt towards the end of the process to let him know that I was displeased with the service, especially forgetting the dolly since I knew it added a lot of time to my move and required my mom and I to help. He tried to make things better by knocking a little bit off of my bill. But all in all the whole thing was terrible. I would NEVER use skybox again.

The movers were due to come at 3:00pm on Sunday. They called around 2:30pm to say that they were running late, approximately 15-20 minutes late. They eventually came at 4:00pm because there were tons of traffic. I was okay with it because they were straightforward and honest about it. Once they got here, they started moving the furniture that needed to be packed. My friend had an insane amount of furniture, that includes 2 beds, 3 couches, and 918273 drawers. (Okay not really but it felt like that). They were quick, professional, and efficient the whole time. Since they were working hard, and McDonald's was across the street, I grabbed them food and we took a break after loading all the furniture (I know I know, fast food is bad for you but it was across the street!). Once at the new place, I swear they performed a miracle or something. It was an enclosed staircase onto the second floor and whoever built the opening were not thinking straight because it was so damn small. The couches took forever to come up the stairs, and once it did, it took forever to get through the front door. For the third couch, they literally hoisted up over the railings in the front! I was amazed... and scared! They got everything in, the beds, couches, and 918273 drawers set to where we asked them to. They were very nice, very polite. Definitely did a solid job. I'm SO glad that my friend chose them to be his moving company because they definitely did not charge as much as other companies have quoted. But they still did just as good of a job, if not better, than those other companies would. If I had to move, definitely will call these guys! Shout out to Joe's crew !! On the second move the remote to my sleep number bed was lost. It was clearly packed, but was placed on the floor of the truck and was not there when unpacking occurred. The guys immediately called into Jacob with the information to replace it.....that was 5 weeks ago and numerous texts and calls. I think I can safely assume by now that Jacob telling me he is checking his emails to find out what happened, is not happening. I would hesitate to recommend them, because a remote is a relatively small thing, but what if major damage occurred....would the client just be out of luck? Based on my experience they would be.
