My experience with this moving company was absolutely terrible.
The mover showed up at 4 pm, he seemed professional and friendly, there was some confusion which we quickly got through and we discussed paperwork. This took 15 minutes which I was already being charged for.
He went downstairs and disappeared for a full half hour, when he came back up he informed me that the other mover got sick and had to be replaced, which I was understanding of.
But we were 45 minutes in and nothing had started. The one mover remaining called the owner and they were on the phone about 10 minutes, the mover told the owner my one bedroom would take 2-2.5 hrs at most (total). The sick mover left and I had one mover for about 35 minutes.
Eventually the other mover arrived and it took forever to get the stuff into the van. I waited in the apartment so I didn't see what was happening downstairs but it took a long time, that made me nervous because my storage unit closed access at 9.
At a little after 7 pm we arrived at the storage unit and they started to unpack.
Shortly into that, I was told I would pay 3 hrs given the issues (even though I was quoted at 2 hours), and because it would take a lot more time because other people were using the elevator (this is normal at a storage facility). I agree. But then I see the mover on the phone with the owner AGAIN. They were on the phone forever, even though I told them that my storage closed at 9 on the dot, meaning you have to be out and he was doing long, time consuming phone calls and renegotiations at 8 pm.
They then increased the amount we had just agreed to. And I had to pay an additional $17 because of a card transaction rate which was never communicated. I was then asked to pay $200 more than the initial quoted amount/$50 more than the amount just agreed to, before they even finished the move.
The long phone calls with the owner and the mover took a lot of time away from the actual move, and it is all time I was paying for. They were on the phone at least 30 minutes during the move, probably more.
Then he goes back downstairs and eventually it's 15 minutes before close and my storage unit is still mostly empty. I text the main mover and he tells me the other mover "quit on him"
We were running out of time so I had to quickly close up my storage, hustle downstairs to see what was going on and I see my stuff all over the place, in the hallway, in the elevator, my mattress is being dragged. I spoke to the owner and I am trying to tell him I need a solution immediately. So they had to rush to pull everything off the floor and back downstairs before the elevators shut off. During this time the movers are bickering, frustrated, annoyed. I am told one of them was taking long smoking breaks. I had to ask the other to take a break given the heat. Some of my storage bins were kicked while in a rush. And then everything that was unloaded had to be reloaded back on the truck, this took another 40 minutes
So eventually they finish loading it back up and I head home because I had ordered food that was sitting in front of my door for half an hour while I deal with this absolute NIGHTMARE. I get home, 9:44 pm, and guess what, my sofa is sitting in the elevator. They left my entire sofa in the elevator, unattended, in the heat. They forgot it in there, along with a bunch of brown paper and plastic wrap. We were gone for HOURS! Not only is this unacceptable it is so absolutely unprofessional. My sofa could have been damaged, stolen, so I call them.
They said 10-15 minutes they would arrive and it took them a full 45 minutes to come retrieve the sofa they left behind. By that time I had to drag it back into my apartment because I can't keep my sofa sitting in an elevator for hours.
So my stuff has to sit in a dirty moving van overnight when it should have been in storage already.
The next morning I had to wake up early to meet them at the storage unit again. This time (different movers) it took them under an hour to get the items into my storage. The owner was apologetic but had the audacity to let me know he wouldn't charge me more. More? For the mess of a job that was supposed to have been completed an entire day before but ultimately took almost 8 hours of my time to fix? After I discuss a refund with him I go to leave. As I am leaving, what do I find? Another one of my items sitting on the sidewalk ready to roll into the drive away. I have to go back upstairs to drop it into the storage unit and I notice my $2300 Casper mattress is covered in dirt, disgusting, I haven't had the opportunity to see how bad the damage is. I cannot overstate how terrible the experience was.
The owner said the first night we would discuss a refund, then the morning of he said he would refund me right after, then he emailed me that he would do it by end of day. End of day passes and still nothing. I reach out again and a partial refund is sent the following day. It was stressful, I do not recommend! read more
