They moved my stuff really quickly but they used clear packing tape to wrap a drawer which ended up peeling off the stain and they didn't wrap my mattress and I didn't notice until it was unloaded from the truck dirty. The reason they get 1 star is because one of the movers STOLE MY PASSPORT!!! It slipped out of my desk when they put it in the den. Joe mentioned it but I was busy. By the time I went to get it, it was gone. I saw the card that I kept inside it on the floor but no passport. I tried calling to ask Joe where he put it and the guy wouldn't even let me talk to him. I am very much a DIY'er when it comes to moving. But when it comes to a cross country move to a new city without a built-in social network I knew I needed to pay someone. I skimmed Yelp! and liked what I saw with Green Gorilla Movers. Especially their emphasis on sustainably green moving practices, even though I only needed help unloading my moving van. Their price was fair and where the rubber meets the road- the day-of was completely painless. I admit that I did not pack the van very well- a lot of small items crammed in every which way. But Bryce and Travis didn't bat an eye and were completely professional, friendly, and treated my items with care as if the boxes were their grandma's prized possessions. They asked where I wanted things and patiently waited while I sometimes deliberated as I'd only been in the space for less than 24 hours and had moved in sight unseen. Without showing my age, I can promise you I have made a number of moves and have used many companies so I have a lot of history to compare services from. First and foremost the owner Scott came over and did a visual bid so I would know exactly what I would be dealing with. When I moved in 2015, I researched multiple moving companies from Yelp. Because the rates and reviews for Green Gorilla Movers were so great I decided to book them. The 2 men who helped were extremely pleasant and took great care of my boxes and furniture. However, I was extremely disappointed with the amount of time the move took. I was moving from a one bedroom apartment with everything already packed. The move took 5.5 hours! After the move, I called to express my concerns but their answer to me was that the two men who took care of me were extremely reliable and they are certain the men did not slack. I just moved again from my one bedroom apartment using a different moving company and it only took 3 hours. The amount of boxes/furniture, distance, and floor are similar. UPDATE: Sheila Flores sent me an email asking to please edit my review, as the 5, one star reviews they have had, has decreased their business by 30%. This, after two months of waiting for my reimbursement, me talking to John Flores on the phone, when he told to wait for the check in my mail, and after asking Sheila to please help with this and not replying to my emails. They owe me $200+ tax. I have had to involve the BBB and needless to say, this business does not answer my phone calls. Shame on them. Also note that many of the 5 star reviews do not have a picture or history of other reviews. They are making them up. Do not give your business to these people. They are unprofessional, unreliable and on top of it all, shameless liars. Everything was going great with this company, until it wasn't. I had a large bookcase the movers needed to pull apart in order to be able to move it down a flight of stairs; that was already nerve wracking, but I guess they needed to do so. After, they had the genius idea to slide the parts down the stairs. Needles to say, it got out of control and such parts were smashed agains the wall, beyond repair. They assured me it was going to be covered, and they took all of the parts with them. It's been close to a month that I have been exchanging emails and phone calls with a Josh (he rarely ever answers the office phone, btw, and when I follow up with emails and mention this, he is always "on the phone with another customer", for what seems like hours. He only replies to emails. It's been a week since I last spoke with this Josh, that assured me it was going to "be taken care of" and that he was "fighting so I could have proper reimbursement". A note on this review: after sending this info to Yelp and the BBB, I was contacted by Sheila, who owns the company with her husband. By the next morning everything was resolved. I wish I had spoken to her first. She was great in ensuring that the damaged items were replaced and that I was compensated for repairs. I hired Green Gorilla Movers to help with my move on April 30, 2016. I chose them because they had a number of 5-star reviews on Yelp. On the day of the move, the movers arrived late. They did call to say they were running late, but arrived later than they said. We were their first client of the day. One of the movers then cut himself on his own cracked iPad screen and my husband had to open our packed box of medical supplies to provide him bandages. They didn't have their own on the truck. During the move, several items of ours were damaged, some beyond repair. They included--an outdoor light fixture that was hit with a piece of furniture and broken and ripped from the wall; a wooden leg of our couch was chipped; our entertainment center was chipped; a floating shelf was ripped out of the wall by the screws; and a light up disco ball was broken. The movers took their own photos of all the damage, and said they would file the report with the office and we should expect a call about it on Monday. By Wednesday, I received no calls. So I called. It turned out, the movers never filed the paperwork to indicate they damaged anything, according to Josh who answers the phone most days. Green Gorilla apologized, the own John gave me his cell number and email and promised to resolve these issues. On May 27 I still hadn't received anything from Green Gorilla. We'd exchanged many emails, and they said they purchased our replacement light. I asked if I could come by and pick it up and Josh said yes. I went to the address listed on their website, 3621 W. Slaughter Lane. It was not a moving office, but an apartment building. I sat in the parking lot and tried to call the office back over and over. No one answered. I called John's cell and he didn't answer. So I left a message and went home. Josh called called back and seemed confused as to why I thought their office was on Slaughter. I let him know that was what their website said and he confirmed that this is wrong information. At this point I was completely fed up. I tried to keep my composure on the phone as I asked for the light to be mailed to my house and Josh agreed. I still haven't received anything. I've sent two follow up emails to John and nothing. Radio silence. This outdoor light was brand new and retails for about $60. I've also paid $10 for a furniture repairman to come out and repair the couch. My sister was kind enough to purchase me a new disco ball from Amazon. We paid more than $800 for Green Gorilla to conduct this move. Not only did they fail to provide quality service day of the move, they have failed to resolve our issues. I've sent a similar report to the BBB in hopes they can help. read more

We have hired movers for our last 2 moves so I had a decent idea of what to expect with a moving company. Green Gorilla Movers completely exceeded my expectations. I worked with Mary on the quotes and scheduling. She was very friendly and accommodating and made great suggestions to help save us time and money. She even followed up after the move to get our feedback and make sure everything went well The guys who handled our move were awesome! They were all friendly and help conversations with us while they were packing, moving and unpacking our stuff. They worked quickly and efficiently and best of all we walked away with only 1 broken drinking glass. That may not sound like a big deal but I can tell you that in our last two moves using different companies we had much more damage (ripped mattress, busted tv stand, multiple dishes) so one glass was nothing! To decrease the chance of damage these guys padded our door frames, covered our stairs and wrapped everything from the dishes to the tv (they even wrapped a tissue box, I laughed when I saw that). Moving is a total pain. These guys make it as painless as possible. Scheduling online was a breeze. GG confirmed by email and then by phone call a couple of days before move day. At GG's good suggestion, we rented Bronko Boxes. No one should try to move without them. They stack neatly, are easier to handle, and are much sturdier than cardboard. On moving day, our driver, Gavin, called with a 30-minute warning. He and James arrived at 830am, exactly in the middle of the 8am to 9am window GG gave me earlier in the week. Gavin & James were polite, dilligent, cooperative, and efficient. I was very impressed. I hope I don't have to move again for another 20 years. When I do, I will contact GG. read more

I will echo what others have said and agree that Sheila and John are absolutely amazing!! I feel really badly that it's taken me this long to write them a review as I had told them I would back in March but the fact that they have sat in my mind since then really says a lot. The day they came to move me they were running a little late because the move prior to mine took a little longer than usual but I was fine with it because of the amazing customer service they provided! They were in constant communication with me giving me updated information regarding when they'd be showing up to my apartment. When they did get there, they moved me quickly and efficiently and they weren't fussy about the fact that I had a couple of other items I hadn't put on my quote (I underestimated how much crap I own.) John helped move my stuff even though he'd just hurt his back during the previous move :( I told him not to worry about it but he said it was the least he could do for the wait and that he wanted to get me moved within two hours for all the hassle. At the end of the move I asked for my quote and he said that Sheila would take care of it over the phone. I tipped generously (for my wallet anyway) despite the delay because of how amazing they had been! I talked to Sheila the next day and found out that my move had been waived because they didn't meet my time frame I had asked for. I was SHOCKED! I've had other movers before who were more than four hours late and didn't offer any sort of discount!! Every part of the process was easy and stress-free (or, at least as stress-free as moving can ever be). 1. Sheila was great on the phone when it came to giving a quote and elaborating on the moving process. The price estimated was very competitive, and this was the only general moving company willing to move an upright piano from a 3rd floor apartment. 2. Travis and Cesar were very efficient and careful when it came to moving our boxes/furniture. They double-checked with us very frequently throughout (we were only moving about 80% of our stuff and left quite a bit of confusing clutter behind) to make sure there would be no mistakes. John joined them for the piano packing and that was completed in 20 minutes! 3. They moved and unloaded everything we needed in about 4 hours total which was beyond our expectations (again, I have to emphasize this involved a large 2 bedroom/2 bath, 3rd floor apartment). Do not mind the 4.5 stars overall rating! Please read all the 1 star reviews saying the same thing, if you experience a problem with the move, you won't be taken care of! period! These guys lifted our gas grill with 4 supporting legs on it at our old place, but landed it on 3 legs at our new place. It was not noticeable since the grill was covered with its original cover that was all the way down to the floor. Guess what, a few weeks later, there was a major wind storm in Austin which knocked our now unstable 3 legged grill down. Our grill was severely damaged. We thought "it's ok. Accidents happen. Let's call the company and get it fixed." We were not taken care of at all. They even stopped responding to our e-mails which is beyond rude. We hired Green Gorilla for our recent move from a 2nd story apartment to a house. The guys arrived early and called just like they said they would. They brought their own packing supplies and wrapped a couple things with blankets and cling, I was pretty impressed with their thoroughness. They worked quickly taking stuff out of the apartment and also taking it into the house. I called around to other places and had been quoted ridiculous amounts for a Sunday move or they were completely booked. Thank goodness I found Green Gorilla Movers. I can't say enough good things about these guys. In looking over reviews of movers, it seems like a moving experience can be hit or miss depending on the guys that happen to show up on the day of the job. Because of that, I was primarily looking for 5-star rated movers for quotes. Moving is already stressful enough. We had a relatively complicated move - packing up the house one day, loading the trucks another day, and then we couldn't get into our new house to unload until a third day. Ryan was great in accommodating us on our dates, even as our closing time was moving around on us. His quote came in very competitive to other movers and he explained it all very patiently. Brief tangent about moving quotes: some movers want you to list your stuff on their website, some just talk with you over the phone and ask you how many boxes you think you'll need, and some come out to actually assess your stuff. Ryan came out to check things out, which I think is the only way to give you a proper estimate. (Seriously, if you're the mover, tell me how many boxes I need. Don't ask me. I have no clue. It's what you do.) There was nearly a different crew of 4 guys for each day of the process (packing, loading, unloading), with a little overlap in team members. They were all great. I'd give them all shout outs if I could remember all of their names. Travis was the supervisor/foreman/team lead for all parts of the job and he was awesome.. I was told that damage to your stuff is almost non-existent with these guys and that was nearly the case with us too. There were a couple of minor dings, to be expected, but these guys were committed to making sure everything was perfect and to our satisfaction. Travis even came back out to our house twice on his days off to do some repair work to ensure that everything was good. I also like the eco aspect of how these guys operate. They turned me on to the local business where I could sell back our used boxes when we finally got unpacked. These guys are just the absolute best. I have personally worked for a competitor and I am shocked at how much better Green G is than their competition. The price was shockingly low for the service and the crew blew me away. I had an old IKEA nightstand and made a comment about how it was old and I wouldn't be upset if it got scratched or damaged. The response from one of the movers: "we will treat all of your stuff like it just came out of the Louvre!" The amazing thing was that they backed up that comment. Great care was taken and my stuff arrived in the exact condition it departed. I'm not saying they'll never damage anything. If they do, it will be a freak accident. Using Green Gorilla Movers was a great choice and I unreservedly recommend them. We had two 3rd floor apartments to move in one day and started out the day with Alliance Moving company. I won't even go into why we didn't stick with Alliance other than saying that it was awful. I started calling around and thankfully GGM was available the following Monday. Cesar, Freddy and Izy showed up on time and called as promised to let me know their ETA. They moved my third floor, two bedroom apartment to my new home in 2 hours! I was so impressed and thankful. The other guys we used at first were cheaper per hour but they took 5 hours to move a one bedroom!! So even though GGM was more expensive per hour it was actually much cheaper to use them because they were so professional and efficient. As I side note, the guys really were great. I was referred to Green Gorilla by a friend for an apartment to apartment move (from a third-story to second-story unit across town). I called four days before my move and Scott and his team did a fantastic job--they were professional, friendly, and efficient start to finish. They quoted me $180/hr + a $90 travel fee with a 2-hour minimum, and were able to squeeze me in first thing on a Saturday morning. They had a man down for the move (and gave me a discounted rate because of it) but between two people, they were still able to move everything in under two hours (30-minute drive included). Used Green Gorilla for a move on 9/26/2016. Simple 3/2 duplex to a new house. We have nothing out of the ordinary. I had to be away on business so my wife handled move. Got scared when the day before they called saying they were over booked and could we change our moving time or day. To keep review simple they didn't have enough room for our stuff. Left many large items that now I have to deal with. They put a hole in a wall that now I have to have repaired or I risk losing my deposit. They broke my grill....knocked one whole side off of it. Lastly, we had to pay extra because move was to Leander from Austin.....20 minutes. They disappeared for a full hour with no explanation and at their hourly rate figure that cost us another $75. My wife bought them lunch so know that's not where they were. Wife says they didn't know how to use the iPad billing app which makes me think Green Gorilla hired some scabs to fill in because they were overbooked. Truck, trailer and movers had no Green Gorilla signs or badging. I called upon returning and discovering all this. Was told I would get a call back and never heard from anyone as promised. They did 3 phases of moves for and started out strong with availability and straight forward pricing but the last phase they were throwing chests with the contents inside over their shoulder and moving dressers on dollies standing on end with the contents inside. I am not usually a negative reviewer but today I am upset. I booked with them a month before my move and received a confirmation call the Friday before my move. Fast forward to the day of my move (today) with a 1-5pm window of arrival. I have not had any contact with any of the drivers all day. It is currently 5 after 5pm and still no contact. Come to find out their office closes at 1pm and I am unable to contact anyone at all. I am completely furious. Please book at your own risk.
