DO NOT HIRE SIMPLER MOVING!!! **Use the services of Simpler Moving if you have a lot of money and don't want any broken items paid for after you've paid for their services.** Luke, Stephen, and Sawyer were very polite and easy to work with... while packing things. Luke and Stephen then unpacked everything as requested, putting things where I asked, which did save me the hours of unwrapping all my things, freeing me from breaking down all the boxes and dealing with all the packing paper. *Keep in mind* I knew going in that I had hired one of the most expensive movers out there, but I had to move very quickly so had little choice. HOWEVER... When I contacted Luke, then later Layne the owner, after I found a broken clock, a ripped duvet cover, and I realized the tape used to keep my earrings from falling out of my earring pocket storage display had ruined it (removal of the tape left a sticky residue I couldn't get off even with Goo Gone) I was IGNORED COMPLETELY. Then, Layne promised it was so a mix-up and my money would be refunded back on my credit card I paid with originally. Still haven't seen that money. This was after I had written a GLOWING review (which they did respond to, go figure).  I included photos of my destroyed items. I even sent screenshots of exactly where replacements could be ordered including each replacement cost. Total reparations only came to $106.19. Considering I paid them $3,421.80 to move and unpack for me, I can't believe Layne is so cheap that he is SIMPLY avoided paying for so little, and so easily. Just finished my move with Simpler Moving & Packing and what can I say! This has been one of the easiest and most pleasant moving experience I've had in 20+ years of military moving. This was my first ever civilian move where the Army was not moving us and I was a little worried. You see, I move every 3-4 years, so I have tons of experience with moving companies contracted through the military and most of the experience bad. Yet, right from the beginning Simpler Moving & Packing made it easy. I sent in for a quote to eight different moving companies. I got responses back like send me a list, send back an itemized quote blah blah blah. I wanted quick and easy! Here is the message Shane Harvey from Simpler Moving & Packing sent me: " . . . we would prefer the Owner to come out and provided an onsite estimate. Do you have any availability for the Owner to stop by sometime this week?" Yay!! How simple is that! A free onsite estimate, and it just got better from there. I must have messaged them a hundred times with questions and each time got a timely, caring response. They understood I was crazy about this move and were very catering. The three guys they sent out were absolutely amazing! They did not look strong, but boy were they! The foreman Dillon is a pro and knows his stuff. They were fast and efficient and arrived at my home in time (I moved from the Austin area to San Antonio). When given my quote, I was stunned! Couldn't believe how affordable this whole move was. Had a long-distance one-way move from Chicago, didn't know any moving companies out here so I asked my new landlord if he had any suggestions. "Oh yeah, Simpler Moving, they're the best no question." So I gave them a call and got an 'unload' reservation set up, quick and easy. Good start. The day I arrived I got a call 30 minutes prior--after already receiving a reminder email the day before--letting me know they were on their way. Showed up on time, were very courteous, and asked me numerous questions as I gave them a quick tour, I felt comfortable that they had it all dialed in. We opened the truck and they got to work immediately. It was obvious quite quickly that they operated like a well-oiled machine, working like a seasoned team. And during the unload, I had a good time chatting with them, asked if they had any restaurant or "things to do in Austin" suggestions...I had a hard time taking the notes fast enough they were so willing to help. All while not missing a beat unloading. So a 26' truck packed to the brim, and they finished in only 2.5 hours. Put everything precisely where it needed to go, no damage during the unload to goods or the walls, it was stellar. And at the end, they asked if they could help with anything else, like unwrapping furniture and folding blankets, moving anything else not yet here, and even if I ever needed help arranging things after unpacking (as I'm new to Austin, so not really possible to call a friend to come help arrange some of the heavier furniture pieces). For my 2nd move I was busy and couldn't meet them at my apartment, the 2 movers were 100% on top of it by calling me and seeing where everything needed to be put in my new home. I do not recommend Simpler Moving -- bad packing, careless moving, and terrible communication. Recap of my 1-mile pack and move - Food items were packed with shoes; Poor packing of furniture left tape marks and scratches, Broken lamp, Missing Chromecast, Scratches on the walls while unloading. Layne reached out on Jan 15 and promised to make things better and re-train his staff. 3 months later, I still haven't receive the adjustment we discussed, even after 2 follow-up emails to Layne (on Jan 22 and Feb 15). Follow through, reliability, honesty, and quality of work all are rated poorly. My single 56 year old disabled vet mother counted on simpler moving to assist in her move. Not only, did they improperly quote her but they didn't even finish the job yet still charged her for the full job. My siblings and I did the rest of their work. We had a team of 4 to move us and 2 trucks. They were very professional and nice. They worked from the time they arrived until they finished so there really was no wasted time. We moved from a two story to a one story about an hour away. A leg from a small stand broke off as they were loading the truck but we were told about it right away. They wrapped everything up really well and used moving blankets to keep from damaging the furniture. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because the quote listed 5 hours for the move and was 3-4 hours short on the time estimated to complete the move. We were caught off guard by the additional $720+ in moving fees. We did anticipate the cost could be higher but we couldn't anticipate an extra 3-4 hours at $240 an hour. read more

Moving is never fun. We needed help moving from a '3rd floor' to another '3rd floor' 2 bedroom apartment, so we decided to make it SIMPLE, and have SIMPLER MOVING take care of it for us. On the morning of the move (Sunday), we got together our friends and family to help the movers take the boxes (2 movers for 2 hours). We had broke down our final pieces of furniture and were just waiting on the movers to arrive. We receive a phone call an hour before the service that the moving truck for the job blew an engine! To make things right, SIMPLER MOVING upgraded our service to a '3 movers for 3 hours' package at their expense for the following morning (friends and family work 9-5 so they cant help move anymore). Unfortunately, there was some sort of miscommunication, and only 2 movers arrived that next morning, causing the move to last an hour extra (Still not bad! but time is money...). I called SHANE and explained what happened, and he quickly escalated the issue and had it resolved. We were refunded the additional hour, and were charged to what we had agreed to previously. I am very impressed with SIMPLER MOVING and how they take care of their customers. The movers had a big task and they executed it flawlessly. These guys are strong too, 2 dudes carried a KING SIZED PURPLE MATTRESS down and up 3 flights of stairs... Simpler owned their mistake in sending a confirmation when my moving day/time were not actually scheduled in their system. They tried several times to come up with resolutions (i.e. moving me themselves later the same day at a lower cost, or covering the cost for another moving crew to move me the same day.) Finally it got scheduled for the following day. They showed up but were in such a hurry that several pieces of furniture got broken so badly they had to be trashed. I was told all of the furniture would be wrapped. It was not. When I inquired about this I was told they were wrapping it in the truck. When we arrived at the new place and the truck was opened absolutely nothing was wrapped. Boxes and furniture were just being put everywhere without asking. I have moved literally every year for the past 6 years within Austin and I have hired several local movers to assist me with moving from property to property, but I have never had such a good experience as I did this past weekend with Simpler Moving. The movers were extremely professional, friendly and on pointe in every way possible. The three man crew showed up on time and were very communicative with me concerning all issues with my move. Over the years my expensive, heavy, all-wood bed has literally come apart and lost half of it's hardware yet the movers were able to successfully move this fragile piece of furniture to the second floor, reassemble it and creatively move it to my desired location within my room with literally no problem. I highly recommend Simpler Moving because, like their name, they made the stressful moving experience simpler. My roommate and I booked Simpler Moving to move from one house to another in the North Austin area at the beginning of July. We had high hopes with the amount of good reviews we saw online from numerous people. Unfortunately we didn't have as good an experience as everyone else. We were given a 5 hour window with which they were going to show up and get us all moved, from Noon to 5 PM. They showed up around 3 PM, and said they were probably only able to get one load done, as they were going to be pushing past their max allotment of hours that they could work in one day. This meant that we were going to unexpectedly take time off from work over what we had planned, so they could complete the job. Frustrating, but whatever. Let's just get it done. We have a large majority of the items packed up and ready for them to just grab and go. They took some time to wrap up the furniture and delicates, then started loading everything up. A little while into it, somehow they tear a fairly large gash into the wall coming down the staircase at the front door. They call the owner to come out and fix it. He brings some spackle to cover up the hole, but it's clearly going to need some more work. He never finishes it. It sat there for days after the job was completed. I had to put on another layer, and then go to Home Depot myself to color match some paint to cover it up. Come to find out there was another wall gash, although not as big, that I didn't notice and our landlord deducted from our security deposit. My roommate is also a little OCD, and had labels on every single box/container on where it was going to go inside of the new house. We had a map that showed where the corresponding rooms were, to make it incredibly easy. Well, as we were going through and unboxing things, it's like they didn't even pay attention to the labels, and just put things wherever they wanted. Stuff for upstairs was downstairs, and vice versa. It felt like a giant waste of effort. Then there was my TV. It was a big 4K 65" TV. It's my nice one, and what I spend a decent amount of off-time in front of. They seemed to have wrapped it well in moving blankets, but somehow there was a large impact point on one of the top corners, and it was no longer usable after that. So we call up and try to get reimbursed for it. This leads to a few weeks back and forth on the model, age, current value, blah blah blah. We wind up settling on $500 to be reimbursed to us. Cool. Weeks later, and no check is received. Call up, oh yeah it's in the mail. Weeks go by, no check. Life is busy, we all let things slide, whatever. It's now 5 months later, and we still haven't received the check. Called up a month ago, and spoke to a guy named Cooper that was supposedly running the operation side of things, and was going to speak to the owner about it. I never hear back from him. Called up a couple of days ago and the guy that answered the phone said he'd never heard of a Cooper. He gave me the owners number, I left a message, and he has yet to call me back. Overall the movers that showed up were very nice, but kind of absent minded, didn't pay attention to the final destination of things, damaged the housing, broke an item that is clearly delicate and needs to be handled with care, and then will not own up to their mistake and reimburse for damages. I see the vast majority of reviews highly recommend this company, and it could be that they just had an off day from being in the middle of a Texas summer. But at least fix your mistakes. We paid a significant amount of money to wind up with such a bad taste in our mouths. I would be extremely hesitant to use this service again. If you do wind up using them, make sure you're on top of them, and it might be a good idea to transport your delicate items yourself. Josh read more

This is at least the 3rd or 4th time we've used Simpler Moving for a huge move. When we decide to buy/sell and get closing dates, the FIRST thing I do is ensure they are available. I refuse to use anyone else. These guys are amazing. My friend needed to move from Austin to my house, and needed help to pack. He had Covid a month before the move, but had fully recovered and was not contagious. So I'm about 3 years late with this review. Layne and his crew moved us from Austin to Buda in August of 2016. We had already done the packing, so they were just doing the moving part. 3/2 house to a 4/2 house, so nothing fancy and nothing complicated. No stairs as well. Three trips later we were done. Nothing was damaged, nothing broken or bent. They took care to wrap TV's and mirrors to make sure nothing would happen to them. Sure enough we unpacked and everything was intact. We moved a full house from Round Rock to Conroe, north of Houston. Simpler Moving moved us with two big trucks; They charged about $4,500. Everything was going great, crew was hard working, but an antique desk LEG (part of an set of solid wood Ethan Allen furniture) had broken in two. Simpler Moving owner said he would take it back, fix it, and bring it to us in a few weeks. Literally months went by, and he kept assuring us it was done and he was arranging for someone to bring it to us. We kept calling and getting excuses but tried to be patient. Finally... when the desk was delivered almost five months later, we found it had been damaged much further (framing pieces, not just the leg) than it had been, and efforts were clearly made to repair it all. While it could not be made like new, it was functional but was clearly no longer worth what it had been (not a rare antique) so we asked for a modest $200 compensation. He said he would not pay, it was "repaired" to his satisfaction; but all his ads and lit said he was insured, so he said we could file a claim, with full descriptions and photos, and might get up to around $60. Lacking any other alternatives, we filed the claim directly with Simpler Moving owner. Since then: CRICKETS! No response as all, not even acknowledgement of the claim. Now he will not not take my calls. Frankly, I don't think he actually has insurance. It has been almost a year since the move. This guy is dishonest and unethical. He does not stand behind his word. Simpler Moving is the perfect name because they made something like moving between cities the most stress-free experience. From the moment I put my transition out there, I immediately received a call/text with a simple message. And with so much going on they followed up with me, so they essentially helped me keep everything in line. Actually, setting to physical move of my belongings from Bastrop, TX to Houston, TX was the first step confirmed where everything else needed a redo and caused much panic and frustration. And the movers themselves where WONDERFUL: professional, productive, polite, informative, etc. Packing around the holidays was a challenge, but the worked around my incomplete attempt. These guys transferred all of our stuff from one apartment to the next in less than 2.5 hours (also from a first floor to the third). They were super friendly and asked us plenty of questions about how we would like things done. I'm an artist so I have a lot of paintings and framed pieces- they took great care with all of them. I was able to book a move with these guys on short notice. They were on time, super nice, and got the job done pretty quick while moving me from a 3br on the 3rd floor to a house 12 miles away. I did have an issue with an item during the move (which can happen), what's most important is that it was handled with integrity. Lot's of business claim to put the customer first. My move with Simpler Moving landed on the hottest weekend of the year. Three guys, two trucks and eight hours in 106 degree heat! The most remarkable thing about it was the incredibly positive attitude of the guys in the conditions! Not only did I have lots of large heavy furniture, I also had hundreds of boxes for my online business. They moved everything carefully, including an enormous piece of antique furniture that took all three of them. I appreciated their work ethic and their cheerfulness in the extreme heat.
