After realizing my move was going to be the weeks sooner than expected, ii was in a panic to find movers and storage. I left my name and number for at least ten places. In the hour and a half I spent leaving messages and requesting quotes no one returned my call. I finally found House N Box and noticed it was in nearby Hutto. I was greeted by Kevin, who was very friendly and professional. I was so excited to hear a person on the end of the line. He was able to get me booked for the following week. Because I was getting a pod and did not have the delivery time, Kevin scheduled me for between 1-5pm. I got a call a about 1230 and two guys arrived at 230. The guys were great! They carefully wrapped everything up and secured most of my items into the pod. They were there for three hour at $140 an hour. These two young kids even moved a really heavy outdoor fireplace and heavy appliances. Since I moved out of town, I hope I never have to call them up for help again. But I would absolutely recommend them t my friends and family. read more

Do not recommend -10 hours to move a 2 bedroom apartment(I had already packed and disassembled all furniture) -Arrived late -would take extended breaks, my ring camera caught them just sitting and talking on my couch -took 1.5 hrs for a 15 min drive, they blamed it on traffic( there was none) -the supervisor was yelling on the phone demanding I pay 1400 or my items would not get unloaded from the truck - they were moving so slow two neighbors decided to help them as it was already late at night I've moved many times, never had I witnessed such unprofessional behavior, for my move in, it was a similar move and it took 3 hours not 10. read more

This company has been a complete nightmare decision for us in our move from Georgetown to the Dallas area. We paid for the complete service, including packing, loading, moving and unloading. We had a large storage pod loaded and the rest was to go in a moving truck to an apartment. First major problem - they left a bunch of our stuff behind at the house. As we had a deadline, we suddenly had to scramble with a local storage unit to be sure the house was truly empty for the incoming residents. Bringing that stuff up separately later meant we had to rent a uhaul, so why have a moving company if you have to rent a truck anyway. Second major issue, when we unloaded the boxes in our apt, many boxes were carelessly packed. Many items damaged or broken. We of course filed a complaint about both of these issues, but all we could get was a $250 refund out of the $3000 we had paid, which did not even cover the temp storage and uhaul rental. At this time we expressed concern over the items in the storage pod that were packed, as this contained our nice furniture and other expensive items, including a 70 inch flat screen TV. We were assured that any damaged items from negligent packing could be reimbursed in a claim. Fast forward to us pulling the pod from storage as we move into our new house. Annnd, what a complete disaster. The pod looks like it was packed by a 12 year old in a hurry. The TV was simply wrapped in packing paper, and of course is completely shattered. We have some cheap 15 dollar chairs carefully wrapped and stored, while our expensive wooden dining room furniture is not wrapped at all, stacked haphazardly, and is all scratched up. This is just the major items. Now of course we file a claim, and here we are a month later and we have heard absolutely ZERO from the claims dept and the phone number on the website is useless. Chat support tells me to email claims. We're out 3000 in damages and are getting ignored. read more

We had a great experience moving with House N Box. Jacob, Caleb, Dylan and Austin were cheerful, polite, helpful and careful. They showed up promptly, and got right to work. All our stuff came through without a scratch. There were a couple of hiccups with setup after unloading, but they were quickly resolved once we found them. We were quoted a (very reasonable) fixed price, and even though it took a little longer than expected, there were no requests for changes or add ons. Extremely disappointed. These were the worst movers we have ever encountered. They had no idea how to utilize the space in our Pod and needed to cram bigger items like furniture in at the very end. Not everything was able to fit. They took 4 hours to do a 2 hour job and damaged almost all the furniture because they would set items on its side and back and slide it across hard concrete. We were discounted 2 hours of work, but since it should have taken 2 hours to begin with and we had furniture damage it wasn't a "discount" at all. We still tipped to movers because they seemed like they cared and were sorry for the damage they caused, but these guys shouldn't be trusted to touch anyone's personal property. We had to make a 200 mile move at the last minute and House N Box was a life saver! First I called A LOT of moving companies and did not get quotes or even calls back for days. When I submitted a request online with House N Box, Kevin called me immediately and within an hour we had a quote and plan. The day before the move a couple guys came out and protected the furniture. On the morning of the move seven movers showed up right on time and I've never seen people move so fast with such efficiency. Great company! I needed to move and store my large pieces of furniture due to damage done to my pipes from a recent snow storm and found this company via google search. I spoke with Kevin by online chat and over the phone to get a quote and he was able to get me scheduled on short notice at a reasonable and affordable price. Isaiah and Cody were the movers and came with a standard size box truck. They were friendly, professional, and did an awesome job at protecting my furniture before moving it; they were even able to move my upright piano. So I sent a text message to see if they were available and received a call back immediately. The quote they gave me was extremely competitive and they showed up not just on time but a little bit early. They were very good at communicating and I could not have had a better experience. I am fairly new to Austin and needed to move from a one bedroom to a two bedroom apartment, in the same building. After shopping around on Yelp I decided to go with House N Box Movers. Sal was very professional and provided a quote for a little bit under a 1000 for packing AND moving. We agreed upon the quote and he send three guys (himself included for the move). He and his team arrived around 9:45AM and was finished by 6:00 PM (with an hour break in between for lunch). Horrible moving company! They came out and gave us a quote on a 2 story 4 bedroom house. Day of the move they showed up with one truck... once everything wouldn't fit in the truck they said we needed to pay another $1000 dollars for a 2nd trip! We were quoted for the house/belongings, not by the truck load! The guys loading were great and felt bad that the owner was doing this to us. We ended up left with stuff in the house and had to rent our own uhaul the next day to finish the move ourselves. Such a pain and stressful experience. Edit to add. It was not 5 movers as the owner said... it was not two moving trucks. Do not use these movers when I called to speak to the owner about my move he sounded angry when he answered the phone then proceeded to take it out on me. All I was asking was why didn't I have the option of not wrapping my used furniture in cellophane because it took the worker 30 minutes just to wrap when both movers shou have been loading the truck. I paid for a full move , approximately $5000 due to a back injury. They promised to label boxes, they didn't, they lost the key to the house I sold so had to get locksmiths out. They said they would connect appliances and didn't . They said they would put boxes in the rooms to ease unpacking, they didn't . One member of their team was yelling from the truck all night, they left things in the driveway and took off leaving the whole house open. They promised to come and fix things and haven't. They forget to bring tools from my garage, offered to pick them up free of charge and did not show up on the day they promised . The breakages are phenomenal , they do not care. Manager blocked me on texts when I called one member of his staff incompetent. I have paid for a locksmith, for services to get things connected. Would never ever recommend them to anyone read more

This move occurred two months ago on October 5, 2020 and I've allowed ample time for this company to be proactive in fixing the damage to my home and furniture. Just because household goods carriers have 90 days from receipt of a claim doesn't mean a company should make clients wait that long. House N Box Movers are doing their customers a disservice by not being proactive in following up on the move, not providing timely updates about refunds and remediations, and not rectifying the issues outlined in the claims form. Here are details about the move of a 2 bedroom apartment to a house... - Movers arrived about an hour late (due to a low bridge?!) which caused a freight elevator reservation to lapse and cost me more time and money while we all waited for the elevator to be available - Movers stopped for food while on the clock (I got a refund for this time, thus an extra star) - No water or drinks were brought by the movers, so I supplied them. - 2 of the 3 movers DIDN'T WEAR MASKS during the entire move duration - No First Aid kit was available in the truck for a cut that one of the movers sustained while carrying a file cabinet. I had to clean, sterilize, and bandage his wound. - No towels or paper towels were brought by the movers, so there were sweat droppings on our furniture, boxes, walls, and floors - Two gouges to a newly painted staircase wall (I had to patch this myself since I couldn't stand seeing it multiple times, every day for 2 months) - Driver didn't back up far enough into the driveway, blocking the street for my neighbors - Paying customers had to help move items out of the apartment and into the home in order for the job to be finished before midnight. We had done all the packing beforehand and had zero intentions of doing any of the lifting and loading/unloading ourselves, thus why we paid a premium for 3 movers at a higher cost. - Other damage sustained: hardwood floor was scratched multiple times at the apartment, a fabric headboard was punctured, two mattresses and a sheet were torn, bedside and coffee tables were scratched and nicked, exercise equipment nicked, and my driveway has multiple tire marks from heavy truck tires correcting an imprecise parking upon arrival. All damage was avoidable, especially for furniture where ample padding and plastic wrap were available. When you pay $1,200 for any service, you expect a certain level of preparation, professionalism, safety, satisfaction, and accountability. Movers were on time but they were slow. All the furniture and boxes were ready to go and it took them 1.5hrs to load up on the 1st floor. One guy was on his phone quite a bit, the other guy seemed to do most of the moving. Ended up going over the quoted time and as a result my family had to move the boxes to speed things up. Nice enough people but we had a terrible experience with this company. The crew that showed up (late) changed personnel a number of times over the move, in which they took over TWICE the time they quoted ($~$1400 more). Seemed as if all but the team leader and maybe one or two others had basically no experience. A lot of standing around. They took so long to get every step done and then, at 10:00pm, said "we only have about four hours to go and will finish tonight". I said no, we are exhausted enough after 13+ hours that day. They didn't know to take the doors off a fridge to get it through the door so left it in the garage.(son and I moved it inside the next day in about 15 minutes). TLDR: Use this moving service at your own risk because you probably could not move. My experience: reschedule, late, and reschedule and late, and probably could not make my moving at the last second and finally move in the late night. Several hours later, the customer representative texted and said they actually had a schedule on Sunday afternoon, I understood that my reservation was too close to make, so I rescheduled to the next Wednesday afternoon for my moving and got confirmation from the business, and they generously offered me some flexibility discounts. I wish I could realize they are not reliable when I receive the reschedule request :-( The arrival window for my moving was 1-5pm, which means that they might arrive during the 4-hour window, so I prepared everything well and just waited for the movers. At 3:54pm, I texted the customer representative to check where the crews now, and she said she was checking, and then after 20 mins, she called me and she said she could not do anything but the previous moving has been delayed, so my moving would be late or could not be finished today. So why do not u notify me earlier? If I did not ask, then probably they would just ignore my reservation. I was so pissed off because you are wasting the customers' time, if I know earlier, then I would not pack everything and I might be happy to accept to move on the next day! Then, the following story is: arrival within 1 hour- I went to my apartments concierges to extend my reservations. arrival late - extend reservations again, and again and again... My final deadline was starting at 8:00pm and finishing before 10:00 pm. The manager said they would definitely make someone to do it. And Finally at 9:00pm, they were here after 5-8 hours late. I even could make a move by myself for such a cross-street-1-hour-moving! I do not care how many hours delay in the previous moving as a customer who made reservation and kept you posted for everything. As an experienced moving company, you should have enough protocols and prepared plans for this situation. If I did not experience it, I would never believe this could happen to such a good-rated, licensed business. If you are flexible for your moving, you can definitely choose it. Update: Added a star after being contacted by the owner. He apologized for the service provided and acknowledged he should have trained his new staff more. I understand their a developing small business, and therefore really appreciate the $100 refund he gave me! Simply mediocre; I suppose sufficient, based on your expectations. Our team arrived at the location 2 hours early, which did not work since my partner was working a half day and we weren't at our new rental at that time. I had gotten in writing from the manager they would show up at 1pm just the day before, so it seems the company lacks good communication. Our 2 team members were hired to unload a moving POD into our new rental. The workers showed little effort and seemed ready to call it quits at any moment, despite it being a pretty simple moving job. One crew member in particular seemed to walk aimlessly about. They did a lazy job assembling our bed mattress, and also broke the back of an entertainment bureau piece because they didn't take the time to see we had packed records inside of it (I was able to fix the backing later, but still). Finally, they left without taking everything out of the POD. Thank goodness my partner and I went inside after they left to check it -- we would have lost important blankets, towels, and lock straps of ours otherwise. I've seen other good reviews for this company (which is why I picked them), so it may be luck of the draw for who they send you. At the end of the day, it was better than me having to do it myself, but if I pay almost $300 I expect a much more professional job. read more

I had a 700lb safe delivered today. I was not prepared to move it and struggled to move it a foot after a few hours. Once I realized that I was going to hurt myself if I continued, I decided to YELP. Great functionality to send quote requests to multiple well rated business. Andrew the owner responded within minutes, he gave me a quick quote and said that his team could be here, TODAY. My mind was made up, I wanted this done by pros. Andrew had his OPS guy Kevin call, again, within minutes - courteous, to the point, no BS. He told me his team was with a client but they would get to me today. I was perfectly fine with this. After an hour or so, Kevin called again to give me an update that his team was still working at the other client, I loved this. Shortly after, Sal called and said they were ON THE WAY. This is about 4 hours after I first initiated the quote request. Sal and Joe showed up, shook my hand, told me they would take care of me. THEY DID. They came prepared, with tools. The moving of a 700lb safe is not an easy task. They definitely earned their fee. They moved it to exactly where I wanted it, down to the quarter of an inch. Done in less than 10 minutes.
