I've used them twice before and had great experiences, but that's because I was in communication with Paul, who unsurprisingly seems to no longer be associated with them. I've sent multiple texts, emails, and calls over the course of several weeks with ZERO response, and my estimate shows that I'm not even booked, even though I initially reached out 2 months in advance and spoke to Chad over the phone who then drew up the estimate. I talked to Chad on Saturday, he was able to get me people on Monday (my original move in date) We had a little miscommunication, but Chad rectified it. I ended up moving later in the day. However, everything was moved quickly and efficiently. Even though they have a 2-hour minimum. They got it done within an hour and a half. They wrap things that needed to be wrapped. I was living at Presidium Pecan district which was the worst most horrible experience in my life. He listened and guided me on where to put my belongings sine the property manager Natasha and the maintenance people who live on the property were stealing from my partner and I. I, like many others, have become an unwilling expert on moving around Austin to dodge huge rent increases, and I have used several moving companies over the years. None has been better than Covered Wagon. Most recently, Ozzie and CJ moved my 1 bedroom apartment from one end of town to the other. They were done in under 5 hours, they were meticulous about protecting my belongings, and they operated in an incredibly logical and professional way. Additionally, communication with the movers themselves as well as the office staff was seamless, easy, and not at all time consuming. Owing to their speed, they came in well under the estimate. I made the mistake of trying a 'cheaper' company with my last move, and while they came in under estimate, they were still a couple hundred higher than CW (and that was two years ago) and literally required more than twice the time to complete the task. I recommend Covered Wagon to anyone who asks, and no one has ever regretted taking my advice. Definitely include them in your list of potential movers. I do not know who else to contact about payment for the damaged chair after sending the requested information and things requested. DO NOT USE THEM! Horrible experience with this company during a move in January. To summarize: they were late, they moved incredibly slow (1 small item at a time while looking at their phones, etc), we helped move half the stuff to speed up the process, they dented several pieces of furniture, they smelled like marijuana, and come to find out they overcharged us and lied on the receipt. I contacted the manager, Paul, to discuss my concerns. After explaining my frustration about paying $700 for terrible service he informed me that the receipt he had showed a lesser amount. This means that the movers overcharged us, documented less time than they actually spent, and pocketed the extra money. Paul informed me that he would do more investigation into my concerns. I provided text messages to corroborate start and end times. After several emails Paul stopped responding to me and I can no longer get in touch with him. This company will BREAK your furniture, and GHOST you! Two pieces of furniture were damaged. One was a dresser that had been dropped down the stairs on concrete. It was scuffed up all around the front and top. Not only that but the drawers itself were knocked off the tracks and the front of the drawers where bent on the ends. The other was an armoire that also got dropped. This actually fell apart and broke. Mind you ALL of this was happening when they were loading up our furniture and they didn't even tell us until we were at our new apartment. When they starting unloading what had broke,they told us they couldn't do anything about the broken items. The moving crew told us that we should send photos and email it to Paul and they would get back to us about the steps to do next. Not only did our moving crew drop our furniture, but they took our weight set and were playing with it in the parking lot while they were suppose to be loading the truck. After several days of not hearing back after the move regarding this, we called up there to inquire. This started a pattern of chasing after Chad and Paul (the people who are supposedly responsible for this business) to get back to us about anything because they NEVER, EVER call back. Chad came to look at the furniture and took photos, promising to fix them and compensate fairly if he could not do it. After waiting a few months, we got fed up and called and emailed again to inquire. They said that they had up to 90 days to fix our furniture, and it is no the end of October and NOTHING has been done. They said if they fully reimbursed their customers every time this happened they would lose 5,000 a month. I'm sorry but tell your crew to handle your customers personal belongings with care. But also, follow through and make things right with your customers. We have sent plenty of photos through email and someone has came out to view the furniture.  So why is nothing happening? We have gotten 0 response, except for we will contact you.  We will no longer do business with them and do not recommend their service in the slightest to anyone. Could not have had a worse experience with the moving crew we had. First, they were over 5 hours late and ended up moving stuff in until after midnight. Then they were so careless in moving things. One guy was trying to bring a treadmill down an angled staircase by himself and put a huge gash in the wall. In addition to a huge chunk out of an antique dresser and a big scratch on the floor of the new home. It was July 2019, so it was understandably hot, but the guys all took their shirts off and were sweating all over the furniture. Literally had a leather chair that was dripping in their sweat. The icing on the cake was when the guy with the teardrop tattoo asked me out on a date. Cannot find one good thing to say about our expereince. @paul, it wasn't in my name. Would be zero stars if possible. I had a move scheduled that I spoke with Chad on the phone about, gave him all the info needed, and got a confirmation email. This was for a Sunday at 9am move. After waiting for a bit with no outreach saying they were on the way, I tried calling several times. It rang a few times and kept saying my call was forwarded to voicemail. After some time, Chad reached out and said "looks like we had a no-show" and said they would send ONE guy later that afternoon. Idk if this guy is the Incredible Hulk, but one dude can't move an entire one bedroom apartment. Then... Chad completely disappeared. The person who they sent in the afternoon then called me and we agreed to move the next day with more help. The next day. My number has been blocked by Chad and the other dude doesn't answer. Normally, I'd just write them off as horrible professionals and leave it at that. However, the "next day" was my the last day I had to move out. I had a friend call them and the call went right through... If you're going to be in the business of helping people move, show empathy for how stressful it can be. If you're too tired to help an agreed upon move on Sunday morning, own up to it. If you don't want to be in this business, I'm sure the garbage companies are hiring. read more

I highly recommend Covered Wagon Moving to anyone moving in the Austin Area. We had to schedule a last minute move to our new home and they were able to squeeze us in on our desired day and time slot. The movers arrived right on time and at no point made me feel rushed. They did a fantastic job taking apart a lot of really heavy pieces with care and navigating them down narrow stairs. They even moved my husband's heavy smoker! Even while I was worried all our furniture wouldn't fit on the truck, they kept realistic expectations and still managed to blow me away by not only Tetris-ing everything onto the trailer truck, but doing it all in one trip! Once they arrived at the destination, they unpacked everything with speed and care, and they were super patient with moving pieces around until I was happy. This company will BREAK your furniture, LOSE your property, and DISAPPEAR! We have used Covered Wagon several times before and never had a problem. The last time we used them, several things that we own went missing. In addition, two pieces of furniture were damaged. One was a stool which had lost some of its pegs and the other was a daybed which was mishandled by one of their employees when unloading right in front of me and dropped several feet onto concrete, breaking a large piece of wood on the front of the daybed. They told us they couldn't do anything about the missing items. The stool and daybed they promised to fix. After several days of not hearing back after the move regarding this, we called up there to inquire. This started a pattern of chasing after Chad and Paul (the people who are supposedly responsible for this business) to get back to us about anything because they NEVER, EVER call back. Chad came to look at the stool and daybed after going back and forth about the matter for weeks, promising to fix them and compensate fairly if he could not do it. The first visit, he took the stool, saying that he would find replacements for the pegs, and asked us to provide the IKEA receipt for the bed so he could ask for a replacement piece. After sending the receipt and waiting a month, we got fed up and called again to inquire. Chad said he had been too busy to do anything (for a whole month) and then promised he would "be right on it". Again, after calling back multiple times, he finally came back to the house empty handed. He did not offer to compensate for the pegs. He took another look at the daybed piece and then decided he could fix it himself and decided to take the piece with him. So, we waited several months this time to call back because why should we be the ones to follow up on something that Chad promised to get back to us on. Finally, 8 MONTHS after we moved, we called back to get an answer. Here's the best part: when we asked about the piece, Chad claimed he has fixed it and dropped it off to our house a while back! Well, that's news to us! No call to let us know it was done, nor is the piece to be found anywhere. After this, he backtracked and said that he was not sure what happened, but would be "right on it". It's been another month and we've called back twice already. Once, Chad picked up, said he was busy and would call back and hung up. Another time we got the covered wagon voicemail and left a message. We haven't had a call back. At this point, we have given Paul and Chad every opportunity to make this right. We will no longer do business with them and do not recommend their service in the slightest to anyone. This business and its employees do not care about their customers. read more

From there I was able to easily arrange for a move out, store for a week and then move back in 2 bedroom sets and 2 living room couches a week later to the exact same apartment. (Such is life in West Campus at UT). I think the rates were fair, the movers were friendly and they handled the chaos of moving into the Villas at San Gabriel well. I would have added a 5th star if I had been given a driver's contact # for day of...but in the end all of our items arrived and they were helpful. I would give a zero star if available. This is the most incompetent business I have ever worked with. They lost my daughters painting, tv, lamp and broke her dishes. Took a month to find the painting, 2 months to find the lamp and the tv was never recovered. Correspondence was poor. Never would return my calls or email. We would text, call and email almost daily and speak to them occasionally when they would answer the phone. Took over 3 months for them to finally agree to pay for the tv. They used to be good. Used them for my move earlier this year and my experience was a total nightmare. Not only did they charge me $300 over quoting, but the two guys took over 7 hours to move items from a two bedroom apartment to another two bedroom apartment. Not only that, but they made us sign their insurance, then after breaking some of our stuff they told us that if we packed it, they can't insure it. They then offered to take some of our antiques and repair them, but I had to fight tooth and nail to get my items back from them, by contacting them for roughly two months without a response. So not only was their service terrible, they basically held some of our stuff hostage while they "repaired" them. They are in every sense of the phrase, not worth hiring. read more

Total train wreck from start to finish. First they just straight up didn't show up to the move. I called every hour and didn't get a response for 4 hours. I wasted an entire day waiting for them and stuck in limbo. Then they said they would do the move for me the next morning. These guys were amazing. I literally couldn't have been happier with the moving process itself. The two guys we had were awesome, super friendly and ran all of our furniture up and down stairs since that was the easiest/fastest way to make the move. The price was very fair and I will definitely use Covered Wagon Moving again for future moves as the experience was great. Only reason for not getting 5 stars was they arrived 2 hours later than our window time. This normally wouldn't have been an issue; however, we took off work for this move yet they arrived after 5pm, thus basically wasting a day sitting around. Also, no one called us to update on the delay and instead, we had to call multiple times to get this original info and updates. Pros: Great and fair prices that pay for 2 movers, a truck, pads/blankets, dollies, and great work. Nice, friendly, talkative, knowledgeable, and hard working movers. Not a single thing was damaged! Cons: The truck had mechanical issues which caused them to be late, not be able to leave once loaded, and broke down on the way to the new place. Total of 3 hours waiting. I felt bad for the movers and I could tell they were frustrated too. They were so, very apologetic about it all. Not their fault. They took off the time I waited and that was fine. I didn't want them to not get paid fairly and I wanted to get to unpacking and getting my cat settled haha. The movers made up for lost time and hustled up all 3 flights of stairs. Poor guys; they still had another trip and were dedicated to get to them too. I had 3 friends helping that had other plans afterward waiting with me. The icing on the cake was sitting in the bathroom with my cat who was terrified because of the huge, empty, new space - my friend's talking in the empty apartment echoing loudly didn't help. It was a perfect storm situation. To say the least, it was stressful, and we all were going a little stir crazy. Overall, great work. Recommendation would be for full-point tune up of truck(s). Otherwise would have been a perfect experience. Movers had a great attitude and did a great job moving. Nothing was damaged which I can't say the same for my friends. ha! Not only did this move take 7 hours for a 1 bdrm (max is 3-4) but they simply dumped all my things all over (even though they were labelled). They boxed me into my living room, laundry room and bedroom closet. The cost was hourly so it was ridiculously expensive. There was also several areas of damage to the walls/paint. I have moved 5 times in seven years and have never had a move take so long or be such a mess. Not only that, I was my MOST organized with this move, everything I had was boxed, labelled and ready to go. I sent an email saying this was my worst move and they called once while I was busy and never bothered with additional follow up. I scheduled for 12pm which was pushing it and rec'd a call Friday morning that they could make it at 10am (which actually worked out real well). I booked these guys twice which is why the 2 stars. The first time things went smoothly!! The second time I booked one of the movers dropped our TV and somehow broke the computer desk. They took pics of the damages and assured us things would be taken care of. We where also overcharged. When We spoke with the Manger he told us we would get the refund and they would take care of the damages. We waited about a week and nothing!!! I called and text and left messages still nothing. Finally my husband called from his number 5 min after I called and he got an answer!! Definitely a red flag!!! I then got a email with their policy and procedures stating the had 3 months to fix the situation. That was in Feb. No one has yet to contact me. I have replaced my own belongings. They are good unless they break your stuff then they ghost you!!! Pretty ridiculous!!!! These guys were great! About my experience: PRE MOVE: - It was simple and quick to get a quote and schedule about a week in advance. - They called me two days before moving day to confirm my time with a two-hour window of arrival (12pm -2pm). They actually offered me an earlier moving time, but I declined because I had a morning appointment. MOVING DAY - Not good thing: they called to say they were coming early, despite my specific instruction earlier not to do so. They arrived at my house before I was there, and I had to scramble to pack up some last minute things I had planned on having an extra two hours to prep for. I was NOT happy. - They started moving my stuff right away even though I was still packing. I figured if if I wasn't done by the time they moved the stuff that WERE ready, I'd just make them wait and make sure they didn't charge for time given their premature arrival. I didn't need to do that, though. - Overall, generally careful with my stuff. I was a little concerned at first because they brought an 18-wheeler for a few pieces of furniture, but it was fine. - They arrived at the new apartment fine and moved and set up everything quickly. Great! POST MOVE-IN - Hey, they give you a welcome folder with a $25 gift card to Tiff's Treats! Sweet! Overall, a fine experience despite my frustration at their early arrival despite my having specifically and purposely turned down the offer. Had a pleasant experience with Luke and Phil from covered wagon moving. These 2 guys were courteous and handled our stuff with case. I had complete peace of mind while these guys were on the job. I was given an estimated arrival window of 1-3pm and the guys showed up at 2pm. They were quick and energetic. They even managed to move a cupboard without dismantling it which saved me a lot of overhead and time. They moved a 2 bedroom apt on the 2nd level to a two story condo in a little over 3hrs. The move time according to me is commendable since it also includes a 30 mins drive. The hourly price and fuel charge was very reasonable. They were also able to squeeze me in on a short notice. Worked with Chad on the phone to setup the move and it was breeze to schedule. No gimmicks like credit card authorization etc like other moving companies. read more
