Went in last night to purchase a pair of western boots. The ladies that helped me were friendly and informative. I was spending a considerable amount of money for some dan post exotics. But I also witnessed one of the ladies treat another customer with great care. Forgive me ladies I don't do well remembering names but I would recognize both of you in the future when I come back. Yesterday, when I went to get my father a Mexican straw hat for work, excited since I promised him that I would buy him one for the longest. When I entered the store with my family, mask on and everything, an employee there told us we had to leave, "there is a store limit you know" with the rudest of attitudes ever. Decided to go back to my car to get ready to leave. When I was getting inside the car, white lady with her daughter walk inside, never did she say anything to them folks. Felt disbelief and anger at what that lady had done, let me mention I'm a US citizen from a very humble Mexican background and passing through that first hand infuriated me. Been through all lot in my life time and not being able to even buy something for me or my loved ones without being categorized is really something else. Being asked by my sister as why they let those white folks buy in there and not us really left me wordless. The prices here are for top quality brands so keep that in mind going in to this shop. I myself will pay for top quality. Very large boot collection to choose from if thats what your looking for. Some jewelry but not for sensitive skin or nickel free at the time we went. Lots of souvenirs and little trinkets. Lots of cowboy/cowgirl hats. Huge mens section. Small women and kids section. Not a lot of small sizes for women's jeans. Very friendly and helpful staff. Service was great. I will be a returning customer. They have other locations and an online website. I bought a beautiful coffee mug from this shop and a couple of western tops both long and short sleeves. Also check out 'Wild Bills Emporium' about 2.5 miles away from this shop. They have a wider selection of clothing and accessories if thats what you are looking for. read more

I went to this location about a week ago to inquire about the return policy since i was gifted boots from their website that had been sent to me but they didn't come with a packing slip so I didn't have a receipt. My boyfriend and I went it with the boots in the original packaging and asked if I could exchange them since they weren't mailed with a receipt and "Colleen" the assistant manager looked at us and said we don't do anything without a receipt and walked away. So I went back today with the emailed receipt that the buyer emailed me and asked if I could exchange the boots. So I chose a new pair went to the checkout counter and again "Colleen" was the one helping me and I showed her the receipt she took my phone asked for my phone number and my last name I asked if she wanted my last name or the original buyers? She laughed looked up and said "you're the one returning them, why would I need someone else's last name?" She then proceeded to drop the new boots I had chosen, walk over to another and employee and ask why everyone keeps taking her pens. I understand a work place can be stressful but common curtesy would be nice. read more

I was in the El Cajon store this past Saturday and I will NEVER go back. The manager, Chris, was out of control screaming at one of the employees that her job was to "obey" him because he was the manager and that he was done helping the Mexican customers that day. His actions and discriminatory behavior has turned me off of being a Boot Barn customer. I have never felt so uncomfortable and disgusted in a retail store. Whoever hired him to be a manager should be ashamed for their poor character assessment. read more

Ok, this place is so awesome, it's a great store, very well organized. DeDe the store manager looked through files and files, and old receipts from longer than 1 year ago from a transaction I had with them. She was also in communication with corporate as well (because my transaction took place over 3 months ago that's my fault I did not go back sooner), and several transactions later she found out they had given me a store credit on a card to use because I was returned a gift. She reprinted the card and activated it because I had probably lost it. If you are going to shop there, you do not have to worry about issues being resolved with returns as this company will figure it out. The employees were not helpful, it took me going over to the one who was standing off to the far side staring me down and asking her to help me before I received some half butt assistance. Maybe because she thought I spoke spanish like every other customer in the store and she didn't know spanish. I don't know. But the customer service was a put off big time. The service at the Kearny Mesa location was much more attentive and helpful. Not only did the service suck, but they expect you to pay full price for a pair of boots that have been stretched out by other people trying on just the right one (or left) and scuffing the poo out of. Go in the back, get a NEW pair of boots if you want to make a sale. If it's a beat up pair, and your last pair, then discount it. Will not shop at this location again. read more

I bought a hat from them and at that time they told me they could shape it for free if I ever needed that. I left my hat in a hot car and it got bent out of standard shape. So I take my hat to them and they say no problem we will have it in a few days. I call after a few days and they inform me it usually takes a week because they do it "when they have time" and they will call me as soon as it is done. I wait and call them 2 weeks after I originally dropped it off and they ask me to describe my hat, they had lost the ticket and had not shaped it because they did not know who it belonged to. They take my info and promise to get it to me soon. I finally get a call 3 1/2 weeks after I originally dropped it off. My hat is in worse condition then when I left it. They offer to reshape it tomorrow but see that I am reluctant to leave it with them for what could be another month. At this point they tell me that they ARE NOT HAT SHAPERS and that they learn as they go. So I ask where I can get it shaped and they tell me that Wild Bills has shapers and they will charge a small fee. Absolutely incompetent. What I can not figure out is why you would offer to shape people's hats if, I quote, "We are not hat shapers". Of course to add to that they lost my info and if I did not contact them I never would have gotten a call. I will take my hat to Wild Bills on Saturday and only hope they can put it back to it's original shape. read more

Came in to browse yesterday with my mom and received some cold customer service from a management team member. We asked for a certain boot size & were told to go back and look on the shelf(which we had already done otherwise we wouldn't be asking) and then told if it wasn't on the shelf we'd have to order online from home. As we were walking out Alejandra approached us and asked if we needed any help. At this point we weary about asking for help but went ahead and approached her with the same inquiry. Not only did she order the boots that we were needing but we walked out with more. Alejandra went as far as teaching us how to maintain our boots to keep them in pristine condition and introduced us to the boot jack! While she was helping us she was interrupted by a rude customer that was demanding help but she kept her composure and was professional the whole time. She is the sweetest employee there. read more
