I ordered boots online and when they arrived, they were clearly the display boots, not new ones. They looked worn and used, which is completely unacceptable--especially since they cost $300. I went to the El Cajon store to try to resolve the issue, and the manager, Daisy, was rude, disrespectful, and dismissive. She refused to exchange the boots and acted like the situation was my fault. Instead of simply giving me my money back, she lied and said the refund would take about a week, which felt like another way to avoid fixing the problem. As a manager, I expected professionalism, but there was no effort to help, explain, or make things right. I was repeatedly told the boots would not be changed, even though they were clearly not new. The manager has a demeanor, which I don't really understand why policy states that are through original payment method store, credit or in a form of and the manager decided to get snippy with me saying that they don't do that, but then she went and brought back the paperwork saying that they actually do do it and basically they're refusing to give me my money back and it's almost $100 for the one pair of pants and I think it's a bit ridiculous that I even have to go through any of this. I bought some hawx boots in black. The hooks tripped me and made me throw my recovery tank and recovery machine. The one hook ripped out. I've gone through another $60 in laces since then due to the metal eyelets deforming and shredding them. Stitches blowing out in all sorts of places. The insides of boots are shredding. I love boot barn I go to the one in the El Cajon Ca. The staff is really friendly and helpful but their online customer service sucks. I wanted to place a order on line but their system was down so I called customer service over the phone and they place the order because I wanted to pick up the items after work because I needed them for a gift so when I show up to the store, they told me they didn't have my order. I called customer service and they told me my order was placed, but it took a couple hours to get ready. I went in to boot barn last week to buy some new boots for a friend of mine. I patiently waited for someone to help me but all the employees were busy helping other customers as they should be. I found a employee named Kiana she was standing around so I asked her for help. And her response was so rude and disrespectful she let out a very obnoxious sigh and said I'm busy at the moment. So the employee Christina was sooo sweet and extremely helpful and is the only reason I didn't walk out of this store losing my shit. The gentlemen who cashed me out, might've been a mark or something, was very unprofessional and I will be going right across the street to boot world for all my boot needs in the future. My husband was buying his first pair of cowboy boots which Christina helped us with, even upsold us on the boot trees which we happily accepted . there were two tags on the pair, one the original ariat with a boot barn sticker showing the original 190$ down to 179.95 The other tag that was a BOOT BARN tag attached to it said 179.95 reduced to 159 or 150 I can't remember but it was cheaper. when he scanned the boots it came up charging us 193 for them. I let him know that wasn't the right price and they were supposed to be the price they were advertised as we would've picked a different pair had we known He marked them down to 179 and ripped the boot barn tag off right in front of us and said that was the wrong price, instead of honoring the advertised price and being respectful of the customer. I was in awe, I had already mentioned it being the wrong price once so was over it at that point and was just going to pay the extra 20 dollars as I just wanted to leave. He scanned the rest of our things and the total came out to about 450$ I used a 10% off coupon I had since I shop at boot barn and have always liked the place, so it came out to about 390$ after that, we tried to pay with my husbands card, it doesn't even ask for a PIN number and all of a sudden there is some hold and he 'needs to call visa for authorization'. I looked it up and he could have pressed the code 10 himself and chosen to call thinking we were suspiciously buying a pair of boots, belt and three things for myself-__- We have tattoos, have money to spend and don't 'look' like we're criminals or anything. (Not that you can tell what a *criminal looks like but you get the jist) He was on the phone for a while and made us wait there awkwardly barely giving us any information about what was goin on while there were other customers in the store and in line Which was extremely embarrassing for introverts like us on top of us being overcharged. I asked him if he needed to see our IDs, as I wanted to gtfo of there ASAP at this point. He said no and asked if we had some other form of payment so I just used my card which is connected to the SAME account but has my name on it, and it asked my pin and miraculously worked* It was funny because we had suspicions about the whole ordeal so we immediately went to the store and used my husbands card for another purchase and it all of a sudden worked just fine. (Specifically a wrangler shirt that I had seen online). Thoroughgoods, Carolinas, etc. in boots (good stuff). Plus a pretty decent selection of Carhartt. (Although I'd rather boycott Carhartt!) So, Rebecca was helping me find work shoes and I had told her my feet have been killing me lately. She gave me the perfect insoles and a comfortable work shoe. I was their for at least 45 minutes and Rebecca had brought out at least 4 pairs of shoes for me to try on. She wanted to make sure I was comfortable and happy with my work shoe. She explained everything so well. She's amazing! And with this covid they do make sure you sanitize your hands when you walk in. They are making sure everyone wears their masks as well. I was in the El Cajon location Tuesday morning and the service was mediocre. I needed Carhartt work pants. They did not have my size, 32X30. I guess that's an odd size as the last three times I've been in there, no luck. I mentioned that to the sales clerk at the register & she just kinda shrugged. I told her I'd rather support local business than Amazon, but all I got was another shrug & "have a nice day." Amazon to the rescue, 3 pair waiting on the porch when I got home from work today. Small business may bemoan Amazon, but when there's zero added value to shopping locally, it's a superior alternative. No fuss, no hassle. I was apprehensive to visit after reading all the reviews, I was looking for a pair of women's cowboy boots, I considered other retailers in the area but choose Boot Barn because of the selection. Most of the reviews complain about customer service, mostly complaints about people not approaching customers to help them, which i find to be BS, if you need help ASK for help. The customer service I got from 3 different women was GREAT. I did have to ask them for help, but why is that a big deal? These women have jobs and its not to wait on customers. The selection here was phenomenal, they had the store separated by men on the right and women on the left which I thought was great, it gave me more space and privacy while browsing. I thought the store was tidy and well organized. When I asked, the woman advised me orange tagged boots were for wide feet and if I liked a boot I would find the corresponding boot behind it. They have a great loyalty program, I've already earned $15 off and if I take a survey I get another $5. I would 100% recommend this place for your country needs. read more

I am posting this review not for me but for one of my guys from work. He is a great man who works very hard. He comes from a humble Mexican family and is a hard worker. On May 20 2020 at about 6:20 PM he entered the Boot Barn Store in El Cajon with his family. His father wanted a straw cowboy hat and my friend was going to buy it for him. When he and his family walked in to Boot Barn, a female employee walked up to them and told them that they could not be there. She said there was a limit because of COVID19. As they walked out of the store, a white lady and her daughter walked in. The store clerk said nothing to them. She returned to the register and ignored the white woman. I went here about a week ago to pick up some new ropers and some riding jeans. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a petite young girl by the name of Ashley. She asked me a few questions about what I wanted in my new boots and then took me over to the correct styles. She never left my side and she was helpful and knowledgeable. We were able to narrow it down to two choices and unfortunately they did not carry my size in either boot I was looking at. She called the store on Mercury and asked them to hold a pair for me. I went to the Kearney Mesa location the next day and after a pretty poor experience there I came back to the El Cajon store and ended up purchasing a pair of Ariat ropers in little boys sizes. Yes, I have small feet :-) I like the boot, it fit and it was about $70 cheaper than the women's size. I thank Ashley for her great customer service...it made the shopping experience enjoyable and painless. I'm not a big fan of Boot Barn prices, but you do get what you pay for here. Let's face it, any pair of boots you get will outlast any pair of shoes you will ever own. I also suggest joining the mailing list on their website....they sent me a 15% off coupon the day before I went shopping...so that eased a bit of the costs. Went here looking to purchase a birthday gift of cowboy boots. Didn't have anything really specific in mind, so it was pretty easy to pick something out. That being said, the staff was accommodating in helping me find what I needed. Ended up going back the next day to get the correct size. Again, the staff was helpful.
