This was the shoe store I was aiming for and lucky for us, all the ones we visited were kind of in the same area. This was our last stop for shoes in this mall and I kind of already knew what I wanted. I walked in and went straight to that section. I had actually already seen the shoes I wanted and was just hoping that they would not only have them, but in my size as well. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and was told that if I needed any help with anything to let them know. They were already busy with other customers and I went straight to the shoes. The shoe they had out on display was my size, so to save some time I decided to try it on. All I had to do was find those foot covers to try it on. Here is where I was dumb, I slipped on that cover and then proceeded to try on the shoe. At first I had a bit of struggle to get my foot in and when I did get my foot in I thought to myself that it was extra tight. But it still fit, here, I didn't check the shoe, it still had the cardboard support in the shoe. My god, what a dumb thing to do. Figuring that out, I took out the cardboard and tried the shoe again, much more comfortable. I had found the shoe I wanted and when the associate came back I let him know I had the shoe I wanted and that the size on the floor was a perfect fit. He informed me that if that was the only one in that size he would give me a discount since it was a floor model. It wasn't, but I was happy with the price and I already knew I was going to get them. Once at the register it was swift. The guy at the register was different than the one on the floor. Already thought I was a member of their rewards program, but was not, signed up and I think I got a small discount on the purchase. Smooth service in here, highly recommend. read more

I've been buying and wearing Vans for decades and I can't remember the last time I had customer service as good as I had at this location. I wish I got her name but the young lady helping me was absolutely incredible. From her assistance getting the different shoes I wanted to voluntarily exchanging and replacing all my shoe laces. Almost every Vans stores I've been in are clean and professional but the customer service at the Fashion Valley location in San Diego is worthy of five stars. read more

This place is terrible. They never have anything in stock, and don't try to help you locate what you need from another store or online. Vans has really gone down hill from a customer service standpoint, and this particular store epitomizes this. Vans used to be the premier skate shoe company that would help you locate what you need in a timely fashion. You are very much a number here now, and you would be lucky get any kind of good service. Fitting room closed ? How do they expect customers to buy if they can't try clothes on? On holidays too? Shopping online anywhere else.

Waited for someone to help us get a pair of $75 sneakers, and they weren't able to help us. Came back in and waited in line, but shell was not able to help us, she helped everybody else in line, but did not help us. I would not recommend the store and I would not recommend Shell to help anybody get a $75 pair of sneakers. read more

We bring my nephew in here often as he constantly outgrows his shoes and the staff are always so nice and helpful. When we are deciding between vans or other shoes we go here due to how welcoming the staff is and how comfortable they make my nephew feel. read more

I was treated with the upmost respect and helped by every single associate in the store at different times. They were't hovering so much that they were annoying or not doing other things but would take moments to tend to other store responsibilities, attend to other customers, and attend to me. They were managing very well! They helped me try on all the shoes I wanted and I was given a lot of advice on how to even care for my shoes. Anthony seems to know a decent amount about shoe care. Brad was helpful as well. He made sure I had everything I wanted and checked on me to see if I had any questions. Loved his pants! He had some pants that were actually a new pair of Vans red corduroy. They were nice. If I had the budget to buy pants too that day I would probably have asked to try them on! He was very nice and respectful. Kaydee was such a sweetheart! She was respectful, helpful, and sincerely welcoming. These are some hard workers that understand customer service and retail! I know holiday times are stressful, I've been a retail employee for many years and I understand and try to give these guys a break however my recent experience here was ridiculous. To start, I had to wait in a 15 person line, this is fine, I understand that these are the times. When I got to the front there wasn't a store associate there monitoring the door but 2 men walked out, after some hesitation, my husband and I assumed that we could walk in. Immediately a store associate by the name of Vito (who was also on the phone during all of this) starting freaking out on us "get outside!". Okay jeeze sorry. We walked out and got back to the front of the line. I am 8 months pregnant and for a brief moment I pulled my mask down to get some fresh air (IM OUTSIDE AND 6' away from anyone) to which again Vito came out yelling at me, quite condescendingly, telling me I wouldn't be allowed in if I don't wear my mask in line. Ok fine, probably a nicer way of saying that to a woman who is 8 months pregnant but sure do your job. FINALLY. We walk in. Keep in there's 5 employees working and the max amount of patrons is 8 people, so PLENTY of employees per customer, yet we walked past 3 employees before anyone said anything to us. My husband decided he would just return his shoes rather than exchange because of this. During our time in line I watched 3 other customers walk in and have to approach employees themselves for help. Seems a little ridiculous given there's nearly 1 employee working for every 1 customer allowed in the store. While employees are walking around rather aimlessly. Ill shop online or at the other San Diego locations before I ever go back here. Not that it matters much to them, but a good attitude and customer service goes a long way! read more
