From the outside, this place looked like a toy or comic store to me, but upon entering, I found out it was sort-of toy store with mostly shoes and clothes. They sell Nikes, but they are very expensive. I looked at one pair to find out they cost $140 (not including taxes). I absolutely love coming here! The decor is excellent and very pleasing to look at. The way everything is set up is very nice. The staff is friendly and are always happy to help. They sell street wear clothing, shoes, and accessories. Lots of the brand names you'll see here, you wouldn't see at normal stores. BAIT barely has sales as it is, but luckily we were able to catch the 30% off apparel in store. Felt really bad because I came right before closing, but Valerie was super welcoming. There's two stories to it. First floor was most shoes and figurines & too floor was clothing. I ended up picking a pie of Huaraches & luckily she was able to price match (a little bit.) but I was still happy bout that. Dope. Great shoe selection , knowledgeable staff great new balance , ASICS, saucony and even Diadora along with Kahru, Nike , adidas and vans shoe selection is on point. I do miss street machine they had pretty good underground sk8 shop vibe but BAIT has everything from collabs with great companies. Good clothing and shoes also whom collab regularly and yes the vinyl collection and collectibles for sale are off the hook. Finally San Diego has a decent store for Vinyl toys if they had another I never knew. Because this place was here before Super7 which is dope but more Kaiju orientated. Poor customer service and misleading information. Hosts and advertise a raffle but close door 30 minutes earlier than what was advertised. We get it people had a long day and want to go home but don't give ample notice in advance for closure. Bad business practice. Aside from this incident, generally speaking the walk-in experience is not very welcoming. Staff is pretentious and feels entitled to be behind counter. Bait is located Downtown and is a great spot to buy shoes and highly coveted clothing. There are different shoes ranging by various brands. There are Nike, Adidas, Vans, and many more shoe options. The clothing on the first floor is mostly Bait collars with different companies such as Marvel or Astro Boy. There is an upstairs, where you can find miscellaneous clothing. There was Stussy, Undefeated, and Y-3 clothing/accessories. The workers are friendly and willing to help you if you are looking for certain products. They also have small collector edition figures that you can buy. The store is clean and aesthetically pleasing. They also get a good stock of limited-release shoes and have raffles! I recommend parking in the Horton Plaza garage and walking to the store. I enjoyed my visit here and will definitely pay Bait another visit! read more

Ordered a pair of Funko pop Brcue Lee's from bait. Waited for 3 weeks for them to arrive!! When they finally arrive boxes are damage. Emailed Bait for solution they said sorry we don't guarantee box conditions.. Yet they sell collectibles and low production items. That is horrible. No more shopping at the bait store or online. The big chains are...well big chains. Any REAL sneaker head knows that you get the gems at the independent spots. Seeing as BAIT is part of a small chain "independent" might not be the best word to describe this place. However it does have an "independent" feel and it does have stuff that you will not see in the larger chains and in department stores. Air Jordan's (a must for any basketball shoe spot claiming credibility) that you are unlikely to find anywhere else in the area, paraphernalia, goods and merchandise that are not readily available anywhere else in the city. We were buying on behalf of a clothing store manager and shoe connoisseur in Japan and while, truth be told, we did not find what we were looking for (they had the style but not the color scheme) the shop clerk, Chanel, did a great job of helping us out, checking their larger sister store in the state and providing us with the contact information. In addition the next time we made it into the store we found something to suit our taste and did not leave empty-handed or unsatisfied. Located on 5th Avenue in Downtown San Diego it is not difficult to find. I find this to be a bit ironic in a sense; considering the contents in the store. The Internet has taken much of the thrill out of finding rare shoes and the spots that carry them. However there are still a couple hidden gems that create a semblance of the feeling pre E-Bay for shoe heads. BAIT is one such spot that captures a bit of that feeling. If you are a sneaker head and are in San Diego you should make sure you check out BAIT. read more
