I just had the most wonderful experience at elegant man, and I'm pretty sure the owner helped me out as I was referred to him by my cousins and was told that he usually only deals with men, but I had a last-minute alteration for a suit that I had for myself and Munther was so caring, knowing that I was the only girl in his elegant man and when I needed to try it on, he just made sure no one else was there and he got my suit ready and even when I came to pick it up there was no parking and he instructed me to go in the back alley and he had somebody bring it out to me and it was just top notch service from beginning to end and if you read the reviews about him, you'll see that my review is almost like everyone else I wish I had someone that I could send to him so they could get taken care of by him but until then here's my review! I came across The Elegant Man when we needed to find a suit for my husband, and I am so glad that I did! Mike has an incredible eye for style and size. He immediately picked out several options, all of which looked fantastic. He also took the time to ensure the entire outfit was perfect, from the suit to shirt, tie, pocket square, and shoes. Even better, he had everything tailored so it fit my husband flawlessly. We walked out with one suit and several shirts the first time, and then headed back the next time we needed an outfit for my 30th high school reunion. The outfit was not one my husband would have picked on his own, but Mike was spot on again! My husband was voted "Most Dapper Spouse" at the reunion (proud wife moment). We returned for a wedding - it was a gay wedding in Palm Springs so we wanted my hubs to look extra stylish, and Mike delivered again! The combo of slim fit black jeans, white shirt, gray jacket, white pocket square, and white sneakers was {chef's kiss}. Our most recent visit was for a prom-themed birthday party. After shopping around at quite a few places looking for the perfect tux for my wedding, the gentleman who helped me at another store pointed me in the direction of this store. Being a curvier queer woman, finding a tux that fits is a bit of a daunting task to face alone but Mike's service was absolutely wonderful. He made the whole process streamlined and smooth. He helped me pick out the right jacket size just by looking at me practically! It was magic. He also helped find all the other aspects of the tux to complete the look where I could try it all on, got marked for tailoring right then and there and told me the price. I couldn't believe how fairly priced the tux and multiple alterations were. I am so excited to pick up my tux next week (talk about a 5 star turnaround time) and be all set feeling confident and ready to be wed! Mike you're the best, truly. I had one of the worst experiences at Elegant Man. When you're trying on suits, they act like you shouldn't ask too many questions, and if you do, they speak to you in a rude and disrespectful tone. I found the suit I wanted and also looked at some shoes. I asked for a discount, and the assistant said he would check with his boss. But when I politely tried to ask the boss myself, he responded in a very insulting way, saying, "I'm not talking to you," which was completely uncalled for. It's really sad to see grown men treat customers like this in their own shop. I hope they change their attitude and start treating people with more courtesy in the future. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. My son went in this afternoon to ask for pricing for suits for a funeral,but instead of the employees helping him or giving him recommendations,they turned him away and told him to go look at Ross or Burlington because 'he didn't look like he wore suits' and kicked him out. My son is your typical skater so he dresses like skaters usually do,but he wanted to be presentable for such an occasion.The workers here clearly aren't professional or welcoming and are discriminatory against people who don't fit 'their type'. This spot is awesome and they provide excellent service. They got me a perfect Tux for the cost of a rental for a Marine Ball that I went to. Since we had such fast and quality service the first time, we went back to find something for my wedding in Mexico. Lots of options and they can get stuff ordered very quickly, which was clutch. I can't recommend this business enough. We skipped over several suit shops in Chula Vista -- where we live -- to check out this spot and Im glad we did. We decided to get married anyways, but through the courthouse and at the very last minute. I re-used an old holiday party dress, but my man didn't have anything to wear. We found The Elegant Man on Yelp and had a good feeling. I've found that small-businesses in El Cajon tend to go above and beyond. We walked in and I was happy to find that we were not bombarded at the door by a salesman. We looked around for a few minutes and then approached by Mike...I think his name was Mike, lol! I told him what I was looking for since my man had no say in anything other than the maybe the loafers, LOL! In a few short short words, he knew exactly what to do and got to work. He was unbelievably fast! I told him traditional colors with an athletic fit and loafers. He knew what size my man was by just looking at him and so there was only one fitting and it was perfect. He began customizing the suit to my man's body frame -- and again -- without saying anything, he just knew. My man has very broad shoulders with a smaller lower body and so Mike was able to get the athletic fit look without highlighting my man's little legs, haha! He even made sure to show just a little ankle skin between the loafers and bottom of the pants. My man reluctant since he has small ankles, but he looked soooooo sharp! The suit was ready for pickup within two days, although I was told that they could provide it by the next day. For everything we got, I was shocked at how cheap it was. I have gone to Nordstroms, Mens Warehouse etc. but never received the service I thought I should expect. I just walked in the door and was astonished by the great selecting available to me. I needed a suit for a wedding and a work trip but pushed it off until the week of. I found The Elegant Man and saw the great reviews so I decided to go on a Friday. The store itself is awesome. It is huge, organized, and has just about everything you can think of. I got there Friday at around 3pm and there were a few people in the store. I had no clue what I was shopping for and needed help. I waited for a bit while (did not catch any names) someone helped another customer. When he was done, he took one look at me and led me to where my sizes were. Spot on. There were so many options so I picked a couple I liked and tried them on. He quickly chalked the pants of the suit that I liked and led me to checkout. I needed a shirt as well and he very nonchalantly pulled one and was about to ring me up. I asked if I could try the shirt on and he smiled and took it out of the package for me. It fit perfectly. The beautiful suit and the shirt cost about 30% of what I was expecting to pay and I noticed that everything in the store was very reasonably priced. He asked me when I needed it so I told him by Monday. He paused for a moment and said give me 5 minutes. Perfectly tailored and pressed. If it was not for the initial wait, I could have been in and out of the store with an amazing suit in like 15 minutes. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted, but I was looked at like I was going to shoplift or rob the store by an older gentleman. I eventually got helped and they new what size I needed immediately and got me setup with a fantastic looking suit. They tailored it in a few days and it fit perfectly. The suit and associated accessories were priced reasonably and I ultimately left the store feeling like I got a good deal on a nice suit. The customer service could use some connection and personality- it was pretty off-putting. The selection and attention to detail here is second to none.
