Never thought I'd be writing a Yelp review about a locksmith, but seriously they deserve it! I have used Bomacs for making keys and also for letting me back into my house when I locked myself out ($100 later). Even though the price was high, they were super-fast, very courteous, and the dude was clearly a former Deadhead, so big ups for that. Also, when I needed to replace and copy a key that was old and from the 1940s, I went to four different locksmiths and they all told me to go blow, that I needed to contact the manufacturer from the 50's! Not Bomacs! They worked extra hard to find me a "blank" and make copies of the key that worked like a charm! Highly recommend. I hope this Yelp review gets them some business! read more

I'd had a sliding door with a broken lock for over a year, and never knew who to call to repair such a thing. It felt like a light bulb moment when somebody finally told me to call a locksmith. I had never needed a locksmith before, but had seen Bomac's on Alpine as I drove by. As far as I could tell they had been there a long time, so I thought I would give them a shot. Eldin was a big help. He showed up on time, and looked at the door. He said he would be in touch once he figured out a source for the part. He called me the same day, and asked me if I knew the manufacturer of the door. I got the necessary information that night, and got back to him the next day. He called me back within hours, with the manufacturer's information, phone number, address, etc. and assured me if I gave them a call, they would send me the parts at no charge- which they did. Once I received the new lock, I got in touch with Bomac's and Eldin arrived punctually as scheduled. If I ever have more locksmith needs, I will be calling Bomac's. read more

Saying thank you for the prompt and honest service. I called in need of a desk key, and the locksmith told me the price of having it unlocked by a technician at $115. I wasn't prepared to pay that much and let him know, and he told me there was possibly another option based off the number on the key lock. He quoted me this key-cutting at $17, but made sure to let me know there was no guarantee it would work. Key was ready for pick up in less than 30 minutes, and it WORKED! I went there to get my mom's deadlock re-keyed and in less than 15 minutes they had it done with multiple new keys. They were efficient, friendly and when they found out my dog was in the car they were giving her cookies and invited her in. Great friendly customer service and an establishment that's been around for a long time. I called in to get a price. I was greeted on the phone by a nice guy that gave me a great price. I ended up coming here twice and parking can be a little spotty at times but there are metered spots across the street. I think the place next door keeps the front spots pretty occupied. Anyways this place has everything you could basically ever need when it comes to keys and locks, etc. I definitely feel like I'm supporting a local business and have felt really helped the few times I've came here. I went to Bomac's with a simple request -- duplicate a key to my safe. The (older) locksmith in the store made two keys and when he handed them to me I said they looked different from the original key and he said they would work. Well, they didn't so I had to go back. Another (younger) locksmith tried to cover up the problem by saying that the key I had was very hard to duplicate. I told him that's why this particular key cost $18.50 to duplicate. Very disappointing. Not only did I identify the problem before I left the store the first time but (1) the older locksmith told me I was wrong and (2) the younger locksmith tried to cover for the older one. I expected they would offer me one free duplicate or something to compensate me for their mistake and my time but they didn't. Very disappointing. I won't go back. read more

Friendly enough when I dropped off my deadbolt to be rekeyed. Bait and switch. Cost was considerably higher when I returned. And even though I dealt with the same guy he still overcharged. For the first time ever, we had to have a lock re-keyed and called several locksmiths. All quotes were around the same price, between $115-130, for in-home service. Bomac's was the only one who told me that I could bring in the lock and have it done for $18, which I did. We saved over $100 with that piece of information. I had a really difficult lock situation. I called for advice thinking I might need a locksmith. After answering a few questions it became very clear that I would need either a lot more or a lot less. This is the first review I have felt strongly compelled to write. I was referred to Bomac's by Dad's locksmith in Danville. I called and told the person who answered the phone that I was having problems with my front door lock and also wanted to explore adding a digital locking system. He assured me that he would send a knowledgeable technician and they would arrive on the chosen day at noon. At 12:30I called to see where my technician was and was told there is a 2 hour window. When he arrived at 1:30 he informed me within 5 minutes that my lock was perfectly fine, I could not add a digital locking system with the existing lock and that the cost was $150.00. Are you kidding me? After being taken advantage of and getting his payment he went on to explain that the door wasn't level, etc. Just be aware of this company and their business practice. I was terribly disappointed I NEEDTO WRITE AN ADDENDUM TO MY REVIEW. I received a call from Allen asking what they could do to make the situation right, which I was incredulity impressed with. Eddy came out today and completely fixed the problem. He was professional and extremely competent.. I was so impressed how this was remedied. Skip these guys and go with Quick Key Locksmith. Based on all the great reviews for Bomac's, we contacted them through their website to ask for someone to come out to rekey our house and add some additional locks, and do what they call a security assessment. We heard nothing. About a week later we called and got an appointment for someone to come out. The guy wasn't very easy to communicate with, seemed confused by the idea of the security assessment that was touted on their website, and left with a promise of a quote in a week. Two weeks passed and we heard nothing. So instead we picked up the phone and called Quick Key Locksmith and within 48 hours the job was done- the service was SO much better. I had a very bad experience here. I took my '50 Buick door lock in to have it keyed to match the other side. I asked them to make me a spare key and they failed that task. Then I just happened to need to disassemble the lock mech again and found they had apparently clamped the cast body in a vice and broke one of the ears off! They tried to patch it up and put it back together but mentioned nothing about their screw-up. I sort of works but its f-ed up. Now I need a new door lock! Very shady transaction! I needed a key duplicated for a Chinese manufactured computer cabinet. Bomacs did not have an exact-fit blank but was able to cut and file blanks for an American lock. No extra charge for the friendly service. The sign says they have been in business since 1947. The guy I worked with was a nephew of the original owner and he'd been there "only" 20 years. After reading all the swell reviews about Bomac's I sure hate to say what I need to. My family has used Bomac's forever so I called them when I needed two deadbolts installed on my mother's house in W.C. So, a guy comes out and does the work within an hour, then charges me $500! Now even a locksmith must be a millionaire? For a bit more than that, I got four hours of pressure-washing with three guys working. Something is wrong here. Get quote ahead of time, then look elsewhere. Locksmiths charging more than lawyers? Aaargh. read more

Late on a Friday afternoon I called because our keys were locked in the trunk of our 97 Civic. We had a valet key, which could start the car, but none that would access the trunk. My daughter received a quote from a mobile service which said they would charge $125 to spring the trunk lock and force the lever to open, but couldn't guarantee that the lock would still be functional. Alan told me to come right over. Within less than 5 minutes, he used the valet key to make me a new key that would not only start the car, but open the trunk as well. Problem solved...for merely the cost of cutting a new key (~$6). He was friendly, cheerful, efficient, and professional. I have had high regard for Bomac's over the years, but now have a new appreciation for the excellent service of this local business. I heartily recommend their business to others. read more

I had a lock with a protected keyset, and the staff at Bomac's explained what was going on, why I couldn't duplicate it, and what I could do instead. After doing some research to convince myself that they were right, I called Bomac's back, and they came and replaced the lock and made a new set of keys the next day. My front door lock broke at 4:00 on a Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend. Went to Ace Hardware, who said they couldn't fix my lock, and suggested Bomac's. Drove to Bomac's, who said they would stay open late to help me if need be. Got there right before they were scheduled to close. Alan looked at the lock, gave me 4 or 5 different options, and finally ended up fixing it for free. If the free solution doesn't end up to be a long term solution, I will definitely go back, just because I got such good service. read more

I rarely write bad reviews, but I have mentioned my experience with Bomac to a couple people and they were all so appalled that I thought it was worth a broader audience. We bought a new house and asked Bomac to come and rekey the three locks. Being new homeowners, we did not realize that we could rekey our Kwikset locks ourselves. All we had to do was buy an $8 tool and we could rekey each lock in 2 seconds. So the guy from Bomac comes, takes one look at our locks, and then goes back to his van to do something for 10 minutes -- maybe call the office to see what he should do. Then, he does not say anything about how easy our locks are to rekey, and rekeys all of them in less than a minute and charges me about $30 for each lock, plus about $85 for the travel fee. I totally get that we should have paid the travel fee because he did drive all the way out there based on our mistake. BUT, he could have just told us that we could rekey it ourselves rather than asking us to pay almost $100 for one minute of work. AFTER he rekeyed the locks, he rubbed salt into the wound by showing me the $8 tool and saying that I should pick one up in the store. read more

I needed a three small parts to finish rekeying my Honda ignition lock. The nearby Honda dealer does not even carry the parts. They contract out rekeying to Bomac. Very few locksmiths that handle autos even handle this design of lock. The employees at Bomac were friendly and understood immediately what I was looking for. While I was there I saw them assist another customer that had purchased lock boxes that were too small for her keys. They simply swapped them out for a larger size. Small business hospitality. These are good folks who work at Bomac's. They are fair and very good at what they do. I needed to have all my locks rekeyed and toyed with a couple different options. At the end of the day I opted for the cheap route and brought a slider door lock into them for rekeying in the shop. They did it quickly and for a good price. I cannot comment on their lock services in the home or car, but the people who work at the store are very helpful (I probably went into this place 2-3 time to talk to them before I decided on what I wanted to do with my locks). read more
