I was referred to Slim Jim's through the neighborhood website, Nextdoor. I wasn't even looking for a lock smith, but someone mentioned their good work at replacing car locks and ignition keys, so I called and Isaac quoted me a fantastic price! I visited them twice. Once to get all my doors rekeyed after a home invasion resulted in my spare set being stolen, and then used to burglarize my car. Yikes!! So all the door locks were done, but then since it wasn't much more money, I also wanted to change my ignition, so they ordered me a new FOB key and a few days later it arrived and was ready for installation as well. The work was completed quickly and everything functions nicely. I now have separate keys for my ignition, doors, and gas tank which is a little excessive, but it keeps my car a little more safe and secure from the lowlife thieves of the world. read more

I have an older RV that had no key for the door lock, so based on the Yelp reviews, I removed the entire lock from the RV and took it to Slim Jim's to be re-keyed, dropping it off on a Tuesday, with a note and my number, expecting someone would call to tell me when it could be done and the cost. By Thursday afternoon I hadn't heard anything so I called and it seemed that nothing had been done. Friday morning they called and said it was ready, which was odd because I'd not been quoted any price. Returning home I installed it but couldn't get it to lock or unlock. Monday I took it back and they managed to get it to work. For this and a set of 3 keys, I paid $50.88. I felt like this was pretty steep for what was done, and requested a price adjustment which was declined. The experience could have been better, quicker, and cheaper. read more

Josh right away came through with professionalism and being an all around down to earth and good dude. Needed a key for a Harley I bought that had no keys. Ordered from Harley using the VIn. Keys didn't work so bike had been rekeyed. Called all over and only a couple people could make a key to fit. AWESOME, SUPER FAST RESPONSE, HONEST! My 5yr old son "lost" my keys when he was checking the apartment mailbox (no comment). The keys contained the key/remote for my 2008 Honda Accord. If you have a newer car and you've "lost" your keys or had them stolen... HOLY CRAP!!! To make it brief (I'll try): Due to all of the safety features linked to the car remote/key... if someone gets a hold of your key/remote it will cost you upwards of $1,200 to have your 2 front doors, ignition & trunk re-keyed to the same key as well as reprogrammed for the anti-theft immobilizer that comes stock with most newer cars. IF YOU DON'T rekey the whole car, just rekey the 2 door locks? They can still get in with the remote, start the car and drive away. AND you'll have 2 separate keys... if you "accidentally" put key #2 into the ignition more than a few times, your anti-theft immobilizer will activate and you will have to call the dealer for help (at the most inopportune time). JIM (of Jim's Locksmiths) is extremely knowledgeable and had an idea of financially strapped me: HE HAS THE UP-TO-DATE TOOLS to make it happen. He suggested that they "Disable" the missing key remote code, reprogram my current "spare" key/remote for $50. IF someone got into the car (using the manual key - still possible) then they would NOT BE ABLE TO start the car due to their reprogramming of the key/remote. *Note: Someone mentioned that if the thief tried to start the car several times, then the anti-theft immobilizer would trigger and I'd have to car the dealer to have it reset (due to my on the side reprogramming). BUT HELL, $50 SOLUTION that guarantees that the THIEF COULDN'T DRIVE MY CAR?! And I wouldn't have to spend several hundred dollars rekeying the 2 door locks?! THANK YOU for taking the 15-20 minutes (on his personal cellphone) to figure out a solution that works! SO VERY HONEST! PS My keys were returned this evening, but I will DEFINITELY call you if/when I need a locksmith! 5-STARS!!! read more

I had my home warranty's service requested dispatched to Slim Jim's. It was my, well, "desperate" attempt to see if my lock's problem could be resolved via re-keying it. I got very patient and detailed explanations, over a span of a whole week, on how to progress with the lock. Awesome customer service! They told me cash only and gave me an estimated time of 430. I dont carry cash so i went to the bank to get cash, spent maybe 15 minutes away from my house and by the time i got home the locksmith had opened my moms bedroom door. I lost all my keys, Lord knows where they are. I'm making my way around town to get them replaced and came to this spot. High reviews on Yelp and I see why. They're closed on the weekends (emergency services only) and I was unaware of this. As I'm walking away their van pulls up and Isaac walks out, he asked me what I needed and without hesitation helped me out with my keys. It's hard losing your keys but he really helped me out when I needed it and I'm honestly overwhelmed with his kindness. Had a BMW key break on me and so I ordered a set of blank keys online and then walked into their establishment. I only needed one but for some reason I still wanted two keys cut in case another breaks. One of the guys there gave me a reasonable quote getting one key done but it was a bit too expensive for me to get two especially with gas prices going up again. I ended up bargaining to the point where I felt bad because I felt like I was lowballing the guy and he was kind enough to meet towards my end of the offer. He cut the first key and then walked me out to the car to make sure it worked first and then once it worked, we walked back and then he cut another and then walked me out again, all while opening the door for me every time. It took no more than 10 minutes. Finally, when I wanted to pay for the keys, he actually only charged me for my original offer! Wish I had asked his name but he had the greatest customer service!
