I needed a specialty key made ASAP and had called many other locksmith companies that could not help me--I sent pictures of my key for a "consultation" of whether or not they could make they key, but got no response; I was told by another that they were not familiar with the key; and another said I'd have to schedule an appointment because there were no technicians on site, despite listing a physical address. Finally, I stumbled on Bomac's listing and called. Jim said to come on right over so he could look at the key. Time for a new review. We had two new doors/locks installed and a 3rd needed to be rekeyed so I could have 1 housekey. The guys at Bomacs told me 1) if the new key fit the existing locks it could be rekeyed 2) I could save the trip fee by removing the door knob and deadbolt to bring them to the store directly. I had issues reinstalling the deadbolt and Alan was so patient and kind on the phone instructing me the proper order to reinstall. I must have asked him to repeat it three times! He kept telling me not to worry. The lock was stubborn so I took a video and went back in. Jim watched the video and told me I was doing everything right. We determined I should try some WF-40 on the deadbolt itself. Problem solved (again!). I have to say these guys provide the BEST customer service and ALWAYS treat me in the kindest possible way. They are never condescending (because I am a woman - yes, this still happens) and I learned a new skill! And while in my previous review Alan mentioned they are in business to make money- the fact that they are also helping me save money keeps me coming back! I have known and used the BOMACS services in the early 90s when I needed an emergency intervention to avoid breaking a door with a jammed lock. At that time, I recall that they showed up within a less than an hour of calling them, as I happened to live nearby their Walnut Creek office. Henry, their technician showed up on time, and expertly resolved our lock issue within less than 30mins. In the process, he took the lock apart, he cleaned and lubed the components, and then neatly put everything back together. HOW I DISCOVERED THEM: they were recommended by a number of neighbors in my local fb group WHAT I NEEDED TO GET DONE: rekey locks, install deadbolt INITIAL COMMUNICATION: let me preface by saying that I am not knowledgeable about anything related to door knobs other than using my key to open them. So I called and told them (what my husband told me, which was) we needed to replace the cylinders in our door knobs. The person on the other line was super knowledgeable, patient, and friendly! He told me that usually only commercial buildings need their cylinders replaced and explained that I probably was looking to rekey my doorknobs instead. He also explained how Schlage and Kwikset door knobs have different configurations (?), so they can't always rekey those using the same key. Being that I don't know if all our doorknobs had the same configuration/cylinder(? I forgot the word he used), he told me to take photos of our doorknobs and email it to them, so he can let me know if he can rekey them all the same. PRICE: I was given the breakdown of the costs for each service beforehand, so I wasn't surprised by the charges afterwards and they were reasonable. QUALITY OF WORK/SERVICE: Great! Scheduling was easy. They gave us a timeframe when they would come by. We received a text when they were on their way. They were super professional and did quality work. He actually took the time to carve out the rectangle on the side of our door to install the deadbolt (I say this bc whoever installed the doorknob on our door previously just took an entire piece of the door out from the side and now there's wood missing and it's ugly). Payment was easy, you can just pay the guy onsite (at your home) with a credit card. Overall, I had a great experience with them. Honestly, I called a few places to get quotes on the work, and the person who answered my call and took the time to explain everything to me in such a professional and friendly manner sealed the deal. Bomac's just spared me a $190 service charge by telling me how to service my own lock. The key was sticking and I thought it was the key a while back - but now the original key (to the deadbolt they installed years ago) started sticking too. They suggested I try using some WD-40 or other lubricant first to trouble-shoot. It worked! Then, I decided to try it on my front door latch (door has always been hard to open)... and now it opens super easily! My kids are mad I didn't do that sooner LOL. I appreciate their honestly and suggestion for me to try myself and when I called back to thank them, he suggested I use the savings to take a loved one out to dinner! Yesterday Jay and Henry came to my office and opened a safe when I couldn't find the key to the safe and the battery on the combination pad was dead. Not only did they get the safe open, they made me a new key. I am very grateful to them. I was very worried that I would have to take apart the whole wall unit to get the safe out.
