Hero came out today 3/26/26 to get us back into our home. The young man Mike was not able to pick the lock so he gave me an alternative option to drill out the lock and replace it. This was $399 plus tax and "fees". We had dogs that needed rescuing so we agreed. It took him 3 hours. He did not have the correct tools so he had to borrow some of mine. To be honest, a good locksmith would have been able to pick the lock. When I go to pay, the tax and "fees" were $180. I've never had a worse experience with any contractor. I needed the door lock on my Honda replaced because I no longer could get the key in. Gave them a call and they had a guy come out who charged me $150 just to get into the car to see what was going on. He stated that the whole job would cost me an additional $250 and that it would take at least 3-4 days for the parts to come in. Meanwhile the car is unlocked and he expects me to leave it that way, as if theft isn't a thing. He sent me a text so I have his number, however when I reached out a week later on an update, I got no response. I tried calling too, no response. Called the company number twice and each time they said they'd reach out to the technician, never heard back from them. This being two weeks later, I'm giving up on them and will see if my insurance can cover it. In short, this company will overcharge you for a simple job and leave you in radio silence. We requested a locksmith service with the promise of a free estimate, but instead they sent someone who went ahead and did the work, which is fine. Overall, three locks were involved: - The front entrance lock was replaced with a new one -- that part was fine. - For the door from the house to the garage, they re-keyed it to match the front door, but they left the garage-to-yard lock unchanged, so now we still need two keys. - Worst of all, the garage lock they worked on broke after only about six weeks. I reached out via Yelp but got no response. In the end, we paid almost $1,000 just to get the front door lock replaced, while the other two locks were left in poor condition -- one still on a different key, one broken. Locked out of my apartment- told me I had to drill my apartment door open, which is fine but then said they are charging me 120$ for just driving over when I declined drilling. I just talked to another locksmith right before him, who told me it most certainly did not have to be drilled open since it's a kwikset smart key lock and that evaluations on Labor Day for them is 30 dollars at most. I wasted 80 dollars after trying not to get pissed off, and would absolutely not recommend this group again. Even if they say they make keys, they do not! And will charge you $90 for no reason. I called to ask if they could come make a key that fit my apartment door as I lost my original key. They said yes and sent a tech. When the tech arrived, he said they don't make keys and still charged us $90. Then, I called to remedy the situation - that they should have just said no, they don't make keys and not wasted everyone's time and money. They said they would look into it and call me back. They never called back. I called again the following week and they, again, said they would look into it and call me back. They texted me and asked for my information for a refund, but after I gave it to them, they ghosted again. Don't waste time or money here if you need a key made. read more

Overall underwhelming service from Steven to install a lockbox. He came in an hour late. The lockbox install was subpar; it was secured to the wall but was crooked by about 5 to 10 degrees. He just shrugged when I pointed this out. Almost completely unresponsive to that and any other issues. Final charge was $670 just to secure a lockbox with 4 bolts, or about $168 per bolt. The initial estimate Steven gave was $399 (about $100 per bolt), but he decided to charge an extra $199 to get the bolts from a hardware store. I'm pretty sure those cost no more than $50 if I bought them myself. He also added a hidden "service call" fee. I asked for an official quote but Steven said he had to be present to see what the job looked like beforehand. This seems like a "bait and switch". Hero Locksmith should follow through with their "Satisfaction Guaranteed" on their website; at the very least I would like to get a refund for the added charges. I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with a technician named Victor from Hero Locksmith. To start, the technician arrived over 2 hours late. This caused significant disruption to my day. Upon arrival, the technician was unprofessional, rushed through the job, and was visibly disorganized. He was very impatient, kept interrupting me when I was trying to inspect his work and kept pressing for immediate payment. The technician was unresponsive to my concerns and showed a lack of courtesy throughout the interaction. To make matters worse, I was overcharged for the service. The final bill was significantly higher than the initial written estimate, with no clear justification for the additional costs. This was a typical "bait and switch" scheme. Overall, this was a very frustrating and disappointing experience. Hero Locksmith's customer service is nonexistent, lacks integrity, and does not follow through even through their business website states a "Satisfaction Guarantee".
