Finally had a chance to try this place. There was a line but wait wasn't too bad -- 20 minutes on a Friday night at 7 pm. My husband got the meat order and I got the Thai dish and we got the pork belly side, which was so good. I ordered medium spicy and was glad I hadn't gotten the highest spice option b/c this was pretty hot. There was a ton of cabbage and radish in the soup that I didn't eat. My husband and I tried this place quite a few months back so the experience isn't fresh on my mind. I do know we weren't terribly impressed. First of all the prices are a bit high for what is essentially a bowl of soup. The descriptions of the bowls are impressive and they do have vegetarian options, which is a plus. At least on the menu it says vegetarian available so I am assuming that includes the broth. My husband ordered the Tomato Veggie and I had the seafood and tofu. The price is even more than what you would pay for most Korean tofu soups (which we love), but the bowls include a lot more toppings/variety. However, the taste of these while nice, certainly didn't measure up to a good bowl of seafood Korean tofu soup. We left feeling slightly disappointed, but I am glad we tried it. Great new location, and same great food. This location is slightly bigger than the Bellevue location, but it's not big enough IMO. To maximize seating, the tables are extremely close together. We were a party of 4 sitting next to a two person table, and it felt like we were sitting with the strangers next to us. A little awkward, but you won't mind once the food comes out. I read many reviews complaining about the wait time. However, My friends and I went there on a Tuesday after the lunch rush (around 1:30), and we got to sit down right when we walked in. I highly recommend going during the down times, if you don't enjoy waiting. Service was fine. They were quick to take our order and the food can out extremely fast. Instead of wrapping myself with a blanket on those rainy nights, I stuff myself with hot pot! This is my favorite location despite it's small seating area. Service here is much more attentive and friendly than the others. So the deal here is that you choose from a preset menu of hot pots. Yes, you can build your own, but it's not worth it. My favorite ones being the Taiwanese and Thai broths. You're free to remove some of the bolder ingredients like pork intestine and blood cubes if that makes you queasy. However adding items like ramen noodles will cost extra! This is minor quibble since I rarely add anything aside from noodles. The pot is so chock full of food that you will definitely leave full. Plus the broth and rice refills aren't helpful in stopping you from overeating. But wait there's more! They also have great milk teas, I highly suggest the Old Time Milk Tea if you like a stronger tea flavor. So while it's all the way in Redmond, the better experience here makes up for the drive. read more

First attempt coming here was a fiasco. It was opening weekend and they were offering buy one get one free. The wait was... indeterminate :) You put your name down and had to come back in an hour to know how long of a wait it would be, so my friends and I bailed. Second attempt was a success! To my surprise, this was Sunday at noon and I was expecting a long line. I put my name down and we were next. Little wait, very little line behind us and we got to have a very leisurely hot pot meal (the way it's supposed to be). There nothing like a nice hot pot of yummy goodness on a cold day in Seattle. Soup base was tasty, ingredients were fresh, good combinations of ingredients, and a nice array of options. They were also offering free tea with the hot pot order which was a pleasant surprise. Service was attentive, though, as they warn you, the wait for the hot pot can seem like forever. They were also out of the fermented tofu so there wasn't really any appetizers to entertain your appetite while you waited. I'm not giving it 5 stars because I'd prefer to have the ingredients on the side and be able to put them in on my own time. Some of the stuff did get a bit over cooked by the time I was able to get to it. I'd certainly come back again when it's not busy. I'm thinking that hot pot restaurants just aren't my thing. They can be fun, but usually a place will need more than that before I fall in love with it. Boiling Point in Redmond opened not too long ago, but it's clear that they're already running quite smoothly. The place is pretty much always busy, which tends to be a good sign for restaurants. However, those other customers don't necessarily share my taste. Basically, it's just as the name implies. This is a restaurant where the food in front of you is sizzling in a boiling broth. This ensures that the food doesn't become cold, but it also doesn't get scalding hot. It is important to point out at a place like this that you should get something you're comfortable with; ordering something too spicy for you will ruin your entire meal. They do provide bowls of white rice topped with black sesame seeds. This is a nice touch, but I personally feel that noodles would make more sense because they go along so well with soup. Eating all these vegetables and meat from a boiling soup without noodles feels kind of empty. Rice is just not the same. Overall, the food is enjoyable, but it comes at a higher price. Of course maintaining these hot pots is more work for the employees, but I was never too enthralled with the idea of hot pots to begin with. One thing I want to add, though, is that their tea drinks are delicious, which shouldn't come as a surprise from a place that specializes in authentic Taiwanese food. read more

Update: Boiling point has stepped up and made changes to their menu which I am always pleased to see happen. It shows acknowledgement of issues and focusing in customer first. The prices have gone up as well but the quality has improved. The hot lots aren't 50% cabbage like before. They incorporate similar ingredients but don't fill it up with just cabbage waiting for you at the bottom. Best item is the curry cream hot pot hands down. I only ever get that one because the rest pale in comparison to the broth. The price is a bit much for a hot pot that is deceptively filled halfway with cabbage. I go here sometimes because I live right next door essentially. Darn convenience... Anyways, the broth is often lacking (except curry fish ball soup is good). It often just tastes like salt water. I need buckets of the sauces at the table to make me feel like there is more than just salty water going on. The sauces on table are 2: spicy bean sauce kind of like korean bbq sauce, brown sweet garlic sauce. The hotpots are filled mainly with cabbage. You get a few pieces of meat and other things like tofu, blood rice cake, mushrooms, etc. But it all deoends on the order. But every order is mostly filled with cabbage that tastes like nothing. The good tasty stuff is too little and cabbage too much. I feel like if I come to eat hotpot here, I am borderline scammed. If i want to eat cabbage I will go buy a cabbage for a couple bucks and mix it with chicken stalk and garlic. Lot cheaper to make it yourself than to pay 13+ bucks for cabbage salt water. I recommend going here if you love bland cabbage to be 50% of your meal. Verdict: This place gives "just the tip of the iceberg" a whole new meaning. read more

Not only they're extremely rude, it was very evident that they could care less what we thought of the establishment. This was the first time that I've had take out hot pot and it was surprisingly pretty good! They even give you little packets of sauces to mix together. The bubble tea here is also solid. They don't offer an extensive drink menu but do have all the basics and you can customize sugar levels. The stamp card is pretty generous too since you only need 5 drinks before getting $3.25 off a drink. Though the $3.25 doesn't fully cover the cost of most drinks, it's still a nice perk. Oh-MY- God! This place is a GEM! I wish there was one right outside my house! I would eat this everyday! I ordered the beef pot, it was so great. We love eating at boiling point, the food is great but the customer service here not so much. When we walked in the server didn't even offer us water, he was very rude and rushed us. He also didn't ask if we wanted any drinks or came back around to see if we needed anything else. Not a bad place if looking for a hot meal on a cold winter's night. The restaurant is small with only a few tables and if you come during a meal rush you will be waiting for awhile. We had a party of nine and they couldn't accommodate us without splitting us up into two separate tables. The menu here isn't too extensive seeing as they specialize in hotpot and the only thing that differentiate between them is what you want put in as all the meal is put into one pot for each person. I chose the beef hotpot and it was good with quite a bit of variety in it plus the extra seasoning made it very spicy. It was definitely one of the spiciest meals in have ever had and you can choose how much spice you want added. The portion size of the hotpot was a little disappointing as I wasn't especially full after finishing off the whole meal and had a full bowl of rice too. There is no way to order a different size of hotpot either as they all come in one size. Service was good as they came around a few times to fill our water and they tried their best to accommodate our large group. Extremely rude staff and manager. I walked in with my task-trained service dog (he has 4 trained tasks, passed the CGC, CGCU, and Public Access Test, and was extremely well behaved in the waiting area of the restaurant). One of the staff spoke to what I assume was the manager in Chinese with a mainland accent. They asked for certifications. I told them that in the USA there is no such thing as a nationally recognized certification and they cannot ask for that. They insisted that it is Washington State law that a certification is required. I told them that is not true according to the ADA and offered to pull out the laws for them to read. They said said they do not need to read the laws, because as a business they have the right to pick and choose which customers they want to serve! This is outright discrimination (imagine them denying someone due to age, gender, ethnicity and say they have the right to choose who they serve). I told them they cannot deny on a basis of someone having a service dog. They insisted that this is company policy. They were extremely rude, unwilling to listen or even look at the laws, discriminatory during the whole process. I was not able to eat here at all. I have submitted a Department of Justice form for this restaurant. read more

We went there with friends and the place is very small and doesn't really accommodate bigger groups well. I personally think, 6 is max to get a decent table. The wait is also pretty long, but that is to be expected in such a small place. The smell was something that I noticed the moment I walked in and it wasn't a good one, it smelled of cleaning rags that've been sitting in a warm corner for weeks. My friend says its the fermented tofu, but that was really a turn of for me. I had the lamb which was good and I'm glad I went with the mild version. I do like spicy food, so the mild was actually spicy enough for my husband and I. They do have a lot of items cramped into the small pot, so it's hard to navigate. I took my mother to boiling point for her first hot pot experience. She had just arrived in town from the south and was very excited to try something new. My friend suggested we go to Boiling Point since we both enjoy spicy food. The restaurant had better ambiance than I expected upon first sight from the outside. What really caught us was the smell as soon as we walked in. We were instantly ready to eat. I ordered the Taiwanese Spicy and my mother ordered the Thai Fusion. The service wasn't the best but we did receive our food quickly. Upon first sight and smell both looked delicious. I was thrilled to find out the Taiwanese Spicy was actually very spicy! I would not suggest this to anyone who isn't comfortable eating high levels of spice. It was by far both of our favorite and I would come back just to eat that. However, we both agreed the Thai Fusion soup left a lot to be desired. It wasn't nearly as tasty as the first dish and we ended up transferring a lot of the items in the Thai Fusion soup into the Taiwanese soup. I give Boiling Point 3 stars. The Taiwanese Spicy soup was delicious and I will definitely be back for more! However I had to knock a few stars because the Thai Fusion wasn't fantastic and the service was just all right. Let me start by saying that I love Boiling Point, but this is my least favorite chain store in Washington. This is my 3rd time here and it just seems to be getting worse. Here are a few lowlights: - Service: or lack there of...seriously bare minimum. We literally had a maximum of 2 mins interaction in total with our waitresses, but encountered them arguing for at least 5 minutes. You know it's bad when you can hear it over the loud music. - Food: I ordered mild (1 star) and am no stranger to spice, but received what looked and burned like a 4. My husbands bowl was also spicier than the 2 he ordered. I tried scooping out the chili oil that was floating at the top and basically scooped out half of the soup hoping someone would return to refill my bowl with plain soup, but no such luck. There is also less ingredients in the bowls than compared to any other BP. I was able to flag the waitress for an iced guava green tea LESS sweet. She repeated less sweet and came back with syrup. The free basil lemonade was also just straight room temperature syrup. I thought it was suspect that all other tables weren't drinking theirs, but now I know why. Lastly, the garlic soy sauce and chili paste was scooped out into 2 serving plates. The garlic soy is my favorite dipping sauce but theirs tasted diluted with too much soy sauce. It was not as garlicky but definitely very salty. So why come here? They're open until 11p and if you're in the mood for asian soup in the Bothell/Kirkland area late at night, this is basically the only option. However, I don't recommend you show up too late because we came around 9:30 and felt like we were being rushed out. read more

Their portions are perfect with ample veggies, meats, and etc. Today, I ordered the Taiwanese Hot Soup that's supposedly super spicy along with some additional side dishes. My little sister and I went and shared one hot soup together. IT WAS SO SPICY BUT SO GOOD. I was almost at tears while eating, thinking, "IT HURTS SO GOOD". I felt eyes on me but I could care less. I thought I was going to regret the aftermath (conjuring fire on the toilet), but I didn't give a second thought to it because it was SO worth it. The service was great too! I normally get the beef hot soup with a spice level of very spicy and a side of quail eggs and ramen noddles. Or I'll be adventurous and get Taiwanese hot soup with a side of lobster balls and quail eggs. Be carful the inside of the quail eggs will be hot and may burn your tongue and the lobster balls too... not that I've burned my tongue once or twice before. I don't really understand the fuss about this place. It's very average. The soup bases are all not very tasty and the quality of the meats are nothing to write home about. It's edible but not mouth watering like I'd expect from a famous Taiwanese hot pot place. I've had the beef pot, Taiwanese spicy pot, and miso pot and none were yummy enough to repeat. I love spicy food but this took it the next level. They warned me about it though but i didnt listen coz i do loove my food spicy. But this. Toooo much. Lol i still love it thought. My fiancée loves this place! In terms of food it's the same for all franchise stores. You get an individual hot pot with cooked food in them already and you can order extra sides if you want. We went during the lunch special which include an ice tea. However, I do not particularly like the Redmond or bellevue location.
