I came here for some boba even though it seems like boba is not the main focus at this restaurant. My expectations were not high and the food safety rating was an okay. The inside is small but cozy and pretty empty when I came inside. We ordered and our drinks came out after a couple minutes. My only worry was the boba not tasting good since it seems like they don't specialize in boba tea. I ordered the oolong crema with half sugar, less ice, and boba and my sister ordered the matcha creama with half sugar, less ice, and boba. My oolong tea was really good! Not too sweet, a little bitter, perfect amount of ice and the boba was surprisingly good! They also have us a generous amount of boba and most toppings are free! Both our drinks costed $12. I'm really lucky to get to come here for lunch on my days in the office! The food here is packed with flavor! They are heavy handed with their sauces, oils, and seasonings whether it's veggies, rice, or meat. It is uniquely affordable, especially for the amount of food - what a value! I've yet to dislike anything I've gotten here, but go-tos are the popcorn chicken and pork bun, but the rice bowls, veggies, and friend tofu are winners too! I love that they have veggies because it's surprisingly difficult to get them from take-out or fast food restaurants. The establishment itself is small, a bit more conducive to take out, and service is usually anywhere between matter-of-fact to polite. The popcorn chicken and braised pork over rice were pretty forgettable, the braised pork especially was quite dry and I had a hard time finishing the bowl. HOWEVER, the tiger fries and brown sugar boba slapped. This place probably has one of the best brown sugar bobas that I've tried. Didn't have the best impression of the service here. I went during COVID times, so they were open for takeout orders only. I placed my order through DoorDash and it was ready for pickup on a table at the entrance when I arrived. The staff didn't ask if I was picking up or anything, they seemed more preoccupied chatting with each other. Another time I came here ~15 minutes before their closing time hoping to place a quick to-go order, but they told me that they were already closed. For both, I thought the tea was decent although a little on the sweeter side (even with 50% sweetness). The reason why I give it 3 stars is because of the boba, which was just not at a good chewy consistency that you would expect for tapioca pearls. It didn't taste as fresh as it should be. This place is a solid 3.5 stars because we had a mix of opinions. You first order at the counter and then wait for the food at your table. Food came out surprised fast and it was piping hot which is nice. Kalbi beef bao: this is where the mix of opinion came in. My boyfriend ate part of this when it first came out and he thought it was one of the best bao he had. I waited a little and tried other food first before eating this and thought it was very mushy and soft even though the flavor was good. I gave the rest to my boyfriend and he agreed. So, you must eat this right away or it just go bad. Popcorn chicken: this would have been such a good dish if they added some salt. It was cooked perfectly, just bland. Tiger fries: good concept, and flavor but the meat could have been cut up to smaller pieces and the onion could have been cooked rather than leaving it raw. I decided to give this place a try despite all the reviews and not so good recommendations from one of my friends. I ordered 5 dishes, none of the dishes were seasoned. The only dish that tasted okay was the plum sugar fries. The traditional pork belly nap was bland, Kalbi beef bao had a conflicting taste between the kimchi and kalbi, three-cup tofu bao was bland (I can make a better sauce than this and I don't even cook!), and 5 spice popcorn chicken had 0 spice. The lady said 15 minutes and I went back to pick the food up right away, and chicken steak's skin was soft and greasy already. These baos are so cute!! 3 for $14 or 2 for $10, I personally think it is a bit pricey for what it is. I got the Kalbi Beef Bao and my boyfriend got the char siu and tofu baos. Kalbi was amazing and I highly recommend if it you are not sure what to get. Boyfriend thought the char siu and tofu baos were good too. Although I can't vouch for that, worth trying it if you get 3 baos. Kalbi beef was tender and kimchi was a tad spicy. A nice combination if you ask me. Have tried the boba drinks here a few times now. Overall they are fine, but my grapefruit one was a little more bitter than preferred. Tiger fries are bomb. So good and the combination of flavors and textures compliment each other well. 5 spice popcorn chicken was delicious. Tender w plenty of flavor, big size and would definitely order again. Crispy cod bowl was filling and lots of ingredients. Cod was fine but not as crispy as expected. Pork belly bowl was nice as well though meat a little overcooked. Nice flavor though. Updating my review from my first visit last year. Came here about a month after their official Grand Opening and Tiger Bites definitely heard all the feedback from the soft opening and really applied it. I came here for a late lunch and wanted to try their Pork Belly since I missed out the first time I ate here. I ordered the Traditional Pork Belly Bao, a Crispy Cod Bowl, and a Passionfruit Green Tea with Lychee Jelly. I think my head was thinking bigger than my stomach because that was a lot of food. The portions are huge here! When the Traditional Pork Belly Bao came, the Pork Belly was a very generous and thick cut. Lots of crushed peanuts and sauce made it a substantial appetizer. Next was the Crispy Cod Bowl. The cod was nicely fried. It had a flakiness from the batter which I was not expecting, but went well with the rest of the bowl. There was so much in the bowl, I only could finish 1/2 of it and took the rest home. My green tea was also well-prepared. The Passionfruit and the Lychee Jelly made for a very refreshing beverage. I would order this again next time. As for the service, A+. I got here around 1:30pm after the lunch rush, so the cashier was a more talkative since it was just me and one other couple. The cashier was really nice and even though you normally bus your own table, he insisted on cleaning my table for me. That was really above and beyond. I'm so glad I returned to Tiger Bites. My girl friend took me out to lunch during my one hour lunch break from work yesterday! I suggested this place out since I saw it on either Instagram or Facebook -- one of my guy friends also recommended this. We came around 1pm and it was great because it wasn't crowded! When you arrive, you order what you want and pay at the same time. They give you an order number to take to your table. We had split all the bites; we got Tiger Fries, Cuttlefish Balls and the Popcorn Chicken. All were so good!!! I especially loved the cuttlefish balls and the popcorn chicken. We also got bubble tea. Apparently, when you order $10 or more during lunch time, you get a free small iced green tea or black tea upon purchase. That's really nice of them! I didn't get one this time but may get one next time I come back. Lastly, we got dessert. We shared the chocolate raspberry bon. It was delish! Disclaimer: This review is only for their dessert bao and regular milk tea. The family had finished lunch nearby and opted to try dessert somewhere else. I was initially leaning towards this place because of their check-in promo for a free milk tea... but I was actually surprised at the desserts. A fried bao? With ice cream? I'm used to my bao being soft and fluffy... but deep frying them makes them even better! If anything it's like an Asian ice cream sandwich. - Vanilla Bao: This was actually better than I expected - sure it's vanilla ice cream but the caramel sauce and the bao go really well with it. The granola gave it a nice crunch too. - Matcha Bao: This was great! Green tea ice cream makes it better, but the red bean is the best topping for it. - Grass Jelly: A mixture of grass jelly, taro, yam, and red bean... this dessert is quite refreshing with its combination of flavors. It had just the right amount of sweetness too. Fair warning, it's a pretty big portion for just one person, so may be worth sharing. - Milk Tea: Got the basic milk tea since the Yelp Check-In offer gave a free milk tea with any purchase. The boba pearls were chewy and cooked just right... and the milk tea itself had good flavor. I like that you get to pick your sweetness - I usually go for 50%. It's about time these kinds of places started showing up in Washington - I've been living in the Bay Area for the last few years and if there's one thing I've noticed about the Bay Area and SoCal, they have a lot more variety of Asian snack places. I would give this place 3.5 star. They serve Taiwanese street food. In my opinion, some items are better than the others. They do the tradition pork belly bao pretty well. The other flavors, not so much. One thing about the pork belly bao is, their crushed peanut in the bao is not as flavorful as it can be. Maybe they need to change their supplier. They also offer many deep fried items here, including green beans and cauliflowers. For me they are too greasy. However, I do like their meal boxes, they consist of one type of protein, and then a couple veggie side dishes, and rice. A full meal in a box! They have a very small kitchen here, I understand they are limited in what they can do. I just wish they can do more. I don't feel totally satisfied when walking out of the restaurant. read more

Its not really traditional but it was a good take on a tradition pork bun. I really liked the tiger fries. It would look like its a lot of cheese but it was just a right mixture of all the ingredients. The down side was that the braised pork box lunch just missed the traditional taste. Don't give me wrong it was good but it was not true traditional. The chicken was really good in terms of taste, but it became soggy and was not crispy and hot like you would get in Taiwan. Super easy date night! Ordered from Tiger Bite's website, chose a time. Dinner was hot and ready within a few minutes of the chosen time. They included forks and chopsticks, which is nice. (Nothing like getting to a park and finding out you need to eat with your hands!) Hubs ordered the Popcorn chicken rice meal. It came in a sturdy, covered, plastic bento-type box. Rice, a generous portion of popcorn chicken, a soy sauce egg, a small serving of pickled cucumber and bean sprouts, and a serving of dry fried green beans. It was all SO good. We also ordered the Tiger Bites fries. YUM. Fresh, hot fries with finely minced kimchi, diced white onions, sliced green onions, sriracha mayo, and kalbi beef (boneless). The beef was a little sweet, and paired nicely with the slightly spicy kimchi and mayo. (Really - this is NOT a spicy dish. When ordering, you can choose Mild or No Spice. I was afraid No Spice would omit the kimchee entirely, so I went with Mild.) Would definitely recommend! read more

Stopped by here after changing our mind about waiting for a table at Gyu-kaku. The place was completely empty during prime dinnertime (which I didn't really take as a good sign). Basically you order at the counter by the entrance then sit down wherever you like. 2 staff were working at the counter and 1 kitchen staff preparing the food. The space inside is not too spacious, should be able to seat 3-4 small groups of people max. The 2 staff were talking to each other and were deafening loud that my husband and I had a hard time conversing at the table.. not even kidding. I do find it's quite pricey, $34 for snacks and 2 drinks is more than I'd like to spend. Also, since the staff were more interested in talking loudly to each other so she wasn't paying attention when she rang us up.. that even though we ordered the 2-bao special, we were charged the full price. We only realized it when we were throwing out our receipt on our way out. Although it was just 50 cents difference but I did find it annoying and a tad sneaky. The Kalbi Beef bao was quite okay, I really liked the abundant kimchi chili sauce which covered up the beef that was lacking with flavors. We got the Crispy Cod bao which was bland and a little fishy, and I didn't like the raw hard-to-bite chopped cabbage. The Tiger Fries was $9 and basically was fries drizzled with spicy mayo and topped with beef slices and a hint of kimchi. For drink we ordered their Matcha and Passionfruit Green Tea. The drinks were quite refreshing. As I mentioned, it's super loud in here. While mid-dining, 2 groups of friends suddenly entered and the place was not only cramped, but silence completely ceased to exist. Parking lot looked deceivingly plentiful but do pay extra attention cause most spots are for 20 minutes parking only and mostly are already taken by the customers waiting for a seat at Nuodle. Been over 10 times and updated my review. They've consistently been good and their taro boba is my girlfriends favorite. They have all the essentials like crispy chicken steak 鸡排, popcorn chicken with basil, braised pork over rice 卤肉饭, mango pudding, grass jelly, shaved ice, and they even have Taiwan beer 台湾啤酒! My recommendations are: - Pork belly bao (gua bao) - Pork belly rice bowl - Matcha ice cream and red bean bao - Hot grass jelly Their hot glass jelly is smaller and less fancy than Meet Fresh's but also cheaper at $5 and it tastes more homemade (which is a good thing), includes classic ingredients like red bean, candied taro and taro/yam balls. Their rice bowls are a good portion for lunch and they give you a free iced tea with lunch purchase (green or black). The pork belly melts in your mouth! Their boba is competitively priced at $4-5 and a couple stand out like the Taro milk tea boba and the Brown sugar fresh milk boba which they do better than other places. The pork bao was PHENOMENAL! The meat was so tender, fell apart in your mouth, and was absolutely full of flavor. I asked for no peanuts and I bet it would've been great with them as well! Also got the cod bao, and it was aaaaaamazing, the pork was still my favorite though. Also the best brown sugar milk tea i've have here on the west side. I got 100% sweetness level and was SO yummy!
