Instead of the ingredients being in refrigerator cases its laid out in kind of a buffet style making it easier to grab what you're wanting. This location is smaller than the one in Tukwila but during the times I've visited there were always seats available. The interior is bright, clean, and modern. I believe they took over another malatang restaurant. Their classic beef bone broth 1/2 spicy is my go too. The broth is rich, savory, and not overly salty. The ingredients were fresh and the meat was of good quality. I love that they give you fresh fruit while you wait for your food and get to end with meal with complimentary ice cream! read more

It was pretty packed when we went on a Friday night, so we had to wait a little for a table, but not a big deal overall given how busy they were. Really good selection of fresh ingredients. I'm a pescatarian and I was impressed with the seafood and veggie spread. However, tom yum broth tasted nothing like tom yum and more like a spicy/sour soup. It lacked the aromas of lemongrass and lime leaves and they also used lemon instead of lime. I'm Thai so to me it was a huge disappointment. I probably will be back to try a different broth though. The restaurant was very clean and organized but I was surprised how long it took for the food to come out when I was literally the only customer at that time. If it's your first time I'd recommend walking all the way to the end of the food bar to check out all the spread before adding them to your bowl, to ensure you don't end up with too much food (like I did lol). read more

We enjoy the regular staff and they're always right on top of things including bringing out a fresh plate of fruit before our meals to serving up a soft serve on a mini cone at the end. This is my favorite YGF location by far. Staff is always friendly and quick, food is always fresh and tastes amazing! The store is always clean thanks to the attentive employees and the price is justifiable. The only downside is that it's a little difficult to find parking but other than that, this is my go to spot for malatang! read more

I can never say enough good things about YGF! I live closer to the Bellevue one but because it's closed for renovations, I came to the Kirkland location. The layout is different than the Bellevue one, with the ingredients laid out similar to a buffet instead of refrigerators. I think they had a few less/different ingredients at this location but nothing that I use so I hardly noticed! This one was way less busy than normal which was nice! There's only 1 table that can seat more than 4 people so be aware of that if you plan on coming with a large party. As always, I was so impressed with the food and thoroughly enjoyed it!! So happy that YGF has another location in WA now! We arrived around 2 PM on a Friday. We enjoyed the fresh ingredients, the Beef Bone Broth, and the Rich Tomato Soup. It was good to know that the Beef Bone Broth also has a 1/2 spicy level. Free fruits and ice cream were included! The facility was very new, clean, and spacious. The staff was friendly and helpful. YGF may be my favorite malatang place and the Kirkland location is less busy than the Bellevue one (for now at least). Small but clean and bright restaurant, street parking. The options are laid out buffet style instead of in a fridge, but the store has an "excellent" food safety rating so they must be super on top of things. I love the beef bone broth soup, and 3 spice level is good for if you don't really want to feel the spice. 4 is still tasty though. Don't forget to ask for ice cream after! Solid pick for Kirkland! The meat quality here surprises me every time. For the price of $16/lb it's not too expensive if you're mostly here for variety of vegetables and meat. Soybean rolls are the most worth it! It weighs nothing I always run into the problem of people disliking certain things at a home-based hot pot party, so it results in a lot of cleanup and leftover ingredients. That's not a problem at YGF In terms of toppings and soup, I would recommend the beef base broth with light spice - you can add more peppers from the sauce bar! It gets a little too oily upping the spice directly from the broth. I wouldn't brother with the chicken broth (it's just MSG). The beef broth at least has protein from the bone broth On Friday and Saturday nights, the seats fill up and it gets kind of cramped. But I would recommend this for a low effort dinner after work or lunch hangout with friends on the weekend! read more

I'll immediately start by saying this is the worst YGF location I've been to. I recommend going to any other spot, but Kirkland is a convenient area. Parking isn't hard to find around the corner, there's a lot open to the public after work hours. Seating here is chaotic and they don't really help maintain order. Edmonds has been really great at helping customers in order after they pay, so it's a lot easier to dine in peace. Here, you have to scout more like a hawk. We also didn't get any oranges while every other table did. Our friend had his order messed up as they mixed numbers and then he somehow got pushed out of the queue. When we got close to finishing the bowls, he went to check and heard the disappointing news. Potentially an off day, but also a headache that I'd love to avoid by easily going to any other location. read more

I've been seeing a lot of malatang places pop up but I've never actually been to one. It is indeed a hot pot place. I got a dry pot since I'm not the biggest fan of Chinese soups. It's a weird decision to go to a hotpot place under those circumstances but moving along. There was enough seating and I was pleasantly surprised with being given orange slices. The biggest peeve I had about my visit, is I couldn't understand the order numbers at all. They weren't particularly in order and the number I had didn't quite match when it came out. Food wise, the dry pot was good. It did need to be mixed. I was the problem since I didn't choose the right proportion of ingredients but that's the inherent reality of something like this. The flavor was good and for a medium, spicier than some things I've had labeled as medium in the area. I enjoyed the free tiny ice cream. read more

Great new addition to the area! Love the concept of being able to choose all your ingredients as you go through the bar. You pay by weight at the end, and then they'll call your number once your bowl is ready. The seafood selection was great, though there weren't as many meat options as I would've hoped - the only cut of beef they had was really fatty, so I opted to load up on the lamb. There were so many veggie, noodle, and tofu/fish ball options, and it was fun to try everything out. I opted for the chicken broth, which was hearty and refreshing. The store itself seemed clean, but some of the utensils... weren't. I had to sift through a few before I found some that seemed thoroughly cleaned. tl;dr - friendly service, fresh ingredients, clean and new My wife and I have been waiting for a long time for this location to open. It's great to have a good malatang place near us. Everything was clean and neat, they appeared to still be putting some finishing touches such as labels for the ingredients. I like the bar style better than the fridges at the other locations. It seems more sanitary as well as not having to fight the sliding door. One important note, make sure you don't lose your ticket with your order number or they won't let you pick up your food. The food was great and consistent with the other locations. The service was overall good except that the food took longer than I expected to come out. Decent Malatang spot in Kirkland. It was clean and not hard to find a table when I visited, contrary to the location in Bellevue. Smaller selection of items than other malatang places on the east side. The sesame sauce in the sauce bar tasted kind of unusual to me so I wouldn't get that again. Lucky Kirkland, we have our own Malatong place now! Its a new YGF franchise location in downtown Kirkland. Malatang soups are perfect for our cold, wet weather. For those unfamiliar, this a "create you own chinese-style bowl of soup" place. This franchise chain has almost 7000 locations across Asia, mostly China. You start by grabbing a big bowl, then filling it with your choice of noodles, veggies, meat and seafood items, from a super long bar. There are many, many types of veggies and noodles to choose from. You weigh your bowl, pick your broth, pay, and turn it over. They take it into the kitchen to cook. BTW, broth choices are beef bone broth, spicy bone broth, curry, herb and mushroom, tomato and I think one more. I did some noodles, veggies and meat, in bone broth, and my wife did veggies and seafood in curry broth. It took about 10 min for our soups to come out. We both thought our broths were delicious, and everything was cooked just right. We will certainly come back. With so many ingredients and broths to choose from, we can make totally different soups each time. BTW, the have a nice condiments bar, to zip up your soup, and if you have room, you can get a free soft serve ice cream. read more

The food bar has super fresh meat and veggies. Mala broth tastes exactly like the other YGF locations and it came super hot. Seating here may feel a little more limited than existing locations. Lovely new addition to DT Kirkland. Very quick and simple to pick out all the ingredients you want for your bowl, and I loved the huge variety of vegetables, mushrooms and proteins to choose from. They even had pretty interesting toppings like salted egg yolk fish balls and cheese filled ones. The cashier recommended that I try their bestselling beef bone broth one and the 3-star spicy level was excellent with just the right heat! The free fruit (2 slices of orange) and mini vanilla milk ice cream cone dessert at the end was a nice touch too. Love YGF and so happy they opened up closer to us here in Kirkland! It was so good we ended up going twice last week. So many different noodles, veg, protein, and fish ball options and a variety of different broths ranging from spicy beef (our favorite and spiciness is adjustable) to plain chicken broth and some vegetarian options that you choose from and is weighed by the pound. Full sauce bar with different sauces, oils, chilis, green onion, and cilantro for putting into soup or on the side AND they include a plate of seasonal fruit for your table. Tried YGF for the first time tonight, and couldn't be happier that they've opened in Kirkland. The vegetarian options were great. I had the Tom Yum broth with 4 kinds of mushroom, tofu skins, glass noodles and some random veggies. The broth was flavorful and add-ins were delicious. It comes with watermelon for while you're waiting and a cute little soft serve cone at the end. My pre-tax dinner was only $9.95.
