Ordered the Miso which is my usual at the Bellevue location and it tasted very off. As I continued to eat, I noticed a string which was tied around the leg of my crab. The server told me it was normal and I was fine with finishing the rest of my soup but it was a thick piece of plastic string. Beef lamb hot soup with vermicelli was savory and delicious, with various filling ingredients. The soup comes with tea (green or black) and konjac jelly. Boiling Point is/was my favorite hot pot restaurant. My review here is specifically for this Redmond location. And the rating is targeting towards the experience, not the food quality. I haven't been to Boiling Point since before the pandemic. The menu has largely stayed the same. The options for add-ins have been reduced. Inoki mushrooms are no longer available. The interesting part here. I asked if they had any mushrooms, and they said no. This isn't really correct. The Taiwanese I order has mushrooms in it. So it is a strange they would say they don't have any mushrooms I could order. Currently, this location is not open for sit in to eat Monday thru Thursday. Only to-go orders. The restaurant is pretty small to begin with. But they also have 3 tables blocked off and taped only for to go orders. Not only were 3 tables taped off I noticed they placed a no seating sign on a fourth (4 seat) seat table. So four tables not available for use. While I was eating there, I didn't see one to-go order placed on those tables. Considering the size of the restaurant this greatly reduces seating capacity. We went on a Saturday and it really was not busy. However, we waited 45 minutes to be seated. Early pandemic, I would get it to some extent. Social distancing, etc. But at this point I think people who are willing to go eat at a restaurant are vaccinated and understand the risks involved. This arrangement is not customer friendly. The food was excellent as always. However, as other recent reviewers have noted, the customer service is poor. I'm somewhat used to this. Some Asian restaurants survive because the food is excellent despite their poor service. I currently place this restaurant in this category. Which this place has some of the best hot pot available, but don't expect great service. Once my food was delivered no one checked on us. We only received 4 napkins for 4 people. Extra sides, water, we had to wave someone down. Remind you that this restaurant is not large, and maybe 4 tables were seated and eating at that time. I love this restaurant, but probably won't be returning here for awhile. I'd rather go to the downtown location which has far more seating. It was well packaged, still hot when I got it home, and the spice level was perfect. If you're familiar with boiling point, you'll get what you're expecting. My past experience with traditional hotpot has often resulted in soggy vegetables, overcooked meat and more time spent cooking than simply enjoying. Therefore, you can imagine my delight considering Boiling Point's style of hotpot, where each guest gets their own personal-sized simmering wok filled with predetermined ingredients. There are about 10 hotpot options to choose from (plus specials); all you need to do is specify your spice level and order any add-ons as you wish. Super straightforward! Two of us arrived for lunch at 11:30 AM and were immediately seated at one of few remaining tables. The restaurant space is fairly small and fills up quick as a line stretched out the door by noon. Their illustrative menu makes ordering a breeze since at a quick glance, it's easy to see the main contents of each hotpot, with all the ingredients also listed on the side. Each hotpot includes a side of rice or vermicelli, and during lunch hours, a cup of iced green or black tea is also complimentary! I ordered the #4 Beef Hot Soup ($14.25) at a mild spice level with a side of rice, which was prepared relatively quickly by the kitchen and served bubbling hot. In addition to sliced beef, I enjoyed the variety of ingredients and textures: napa, vermicelli, enoki mushrooms, tomato, firm tofu, tempura stick, corn, pork meatball, fish cake, fried tofu skin and imitation crab. The napa surprisingly retained some of its crispness, the tofu and vermicelli absorbed the flavorful broth and the beef was still fairly tender. Dip the meat in their garlic soy sauce for an even more flavorful bite! As a quick note, I ordered my pot at a mild spice level, which turned out spicier than expected. It was a good heat, but any more would have been overwhelming for me. As a whole, the hotpot is a good-sized portion of food, but the serving of each ingredient is relatively small. To put things in perspective, it included half a meatball, one wedge of tomato and a tiny corn cob. In my opinion, the few paper-thin slices of beef in the pot were not enough to classify this as a beef dish. While I was completely full after finishing, I didn't find the hotpot to be the best value. Instead of the complimentary tea, I decided to splurge and treat myself to a Guava Green Tea with boba ($4.75) which was super refreshing! Although the boba seemed a little overcooked, I loved the drink's sweet fruity flavors and it definitely cooled down my palate from the hot pot's tingling heat. Sadly, the service was not the best. The staff appears to do just the minimum required to get by. Other than coming over to take our order and leaving the bill, no one stopped by to check on us once. Everyone seemed pretty monotone and truly seemed to be just going through the motions with little enthusiasm. However, this wouldn't totally prevent me from returning, especially during the Fall and Winter months when I'll be craving a hot soup! read more

I abhor leaving negative reviews (and to date, never left one on Yelp) but this place deserved one. We came in at 1:04PM on Sunday, November 27. At 1:16PM, we got a text message that "Your table is almost ready at BP - Redmond". We came in as soon as the message came in. We waited for tables to be emptied and noticed numbers ahead of us getting called. We approached the waiter and she claimed she called us at 1:10PM - 6 minutes before "Your table is almost ready at BP - Redmond" text came in. We were even willing to wait again in line for a seat, but what was worse was that the waiter was rude and proceeded to seat guests that just got in the restaurant. This was our first time treating our family out to Boiling Point for a birthday - and this experience with Redmond Boiling Point just cemented avoiding this place. We have been to the one at Renton before and experience was vastly better (service folks were so warm and welcoming) compared to what we experienced here. read more

Boiling Point serves good and fresh hot pot under a mini stove at your table. It's particularly satisfying on a cold winter day. The interior is welcoming and decorated with themes of the hot pot dishes. I would recommend coming for lunch because of the slightly reduced prices and added free tea drink (choose between green or black tea that is lightly sweetened). Service and wait time can vary. Weekdays tend to be less busy especially right after opening time and during slower hours. During busier times, it can be hard to get servers' attention and they are less attentive to your party. The menu items are fixed with the exception of add-ons which you can pay extra for. My favorites are the Beef and Japanese Miso. The spiciness can be intense- I can usually tolerate mild spice at other restaurants, but here "mild" was a lot spicier than I'm used to, especially when combined with the heat of the hot pot. My biggest criticism is the lack of customizability. I personally dislike tofu and mushroom and I could not request any replacement for them (e.g. cabbage), which can result in preventable food waste. read more
