This place is famous for their southern biscuits. They have a stand at the Waverly farmer's market on Saturdays next to JHU and the farmer's market under the 83 overpass on Sundays. The menu changes all the time so check out their facebook page to see what they're offering before you go. The menu usually has around 4 types of biscuit sandwiches or biscuit/gravy, which usually cost $7. Some of the ones I've tried: Oxtail Gravy - wow, I haven't seen this offered again since I had it in May, but this was absolutely one of the most tasty meals I've had this year. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender surrounding a buttery biscuit lathered in flavorful gravy. Eating it immediately made me a life-long fan of this place. Roasted Mushroom Gravy- got this recently and it convinced me that whatever you do, always get the option that has gravy. The biscuits they make taste the best when it is bathed in some sort of gravy. Wood Grilled Peaches w. Arugula & Manchego - this was a unique sandwich, but it was a bit too dry for me. It needed gravy. Overall, you haven't had biscuits and gravy until you've been to blacksauce kitchen. End of story. read more

Had the opportunity to try out this dynamic duo at waverly market one Saturday. Let me tell you OMG! I had a biscuit with chicken and a chipotle sauce. The biscuit is soft, savory, melts in your mouth. Chicken was juicy, seasoned and fell apart. At one point a lady caught me licking the foil for the sauce and smiled. I thought, that's right I appreciate good food!! There was no slacking on the portions either. Currently I know the set up shop at waverly and saratoga farmers market. Hopefully they will offer more access to there scrumptious biscuits and comfort food. read more

Blacksauce Kitchen catered our wedding, and it was the absolute best. They are the kindest, most wonderful people to work with, and it was a joy to put together the menu and event with them. During the reception, their waitstaff was excellent and the bartender was capable and friendly. Most importantly, the food was so so so delicious. They put together a perfect summer meal, executed impeccably-- pickled asparagus frites, brisket with tomato jam, buttermilk biscuits, coriander mustard potato salad, smoked green beans, summery green salad, smoked almond blondies..... Guests told me that it was the best food they'd ever eaten at a wedding. At the end of the night, they left the site absolutely spotless. It's so clear that they love what they do, and care deeply about their work! Just all-in-all a very professional, wonderful catering service from Blacksauce Kitchen. Damian and Laura-- thank you! read more

Nothing has changed... still awesome... still taunting me if I go to long without. If you see the line is long and think, nothing is worth this line. Think again buster.... yes it is. I have stood in line in humidity with sweat rolling down my back thinking why am I doing this, this cant be what life is about. My kid whining,my feet hurt. But let me tell you, the instant you shove that lovely piece of artwork in your mouth. I have yet to get a pic because the time it takes for me to take picture, is the time Im denying myself a blacksauce breakfast. In the past I have had: Chicken sausage & egg Brisket & egg cider braised pulled pork and when I mean nothing I have had from these folks have been ever even the slight of just ok. hhahahahaha just ok. They dont know just ok, the only how to wow. I find them on Sundays at the Farmers Market. I see on here that they are also found at the Waverly Farmers Market on Saturday. They do a pretty good job at updating their facebook page telling where they will be and what they are featuring. Now only if they would set up a twitter and instagram then link them all together. Social media guys!!!! I hope you see all these pics you are hash tagged in. read more

I visit them at the 32nd st Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. The menu changes weekly, but they typically have 2 biscuit sandwiches for $7 each. You can also buy a plain biscuit, and they sell drinks (typically a type of lemonade) as well. The sandwiches are wonderful. I typically buy the ones that have meat in them, and it is always perfectly cooked. The sandwich ingredients are always a great combination. I'm impressed at what they can do with only 2 people and so little cooking equipment. The line gets longer as it closer to noon, so go early if you can. Also, remember to bring cash. read more

Blacksauce always has the longest line in the Mt Vernon farmers market, and for good reason. I appreciate how the biscuit types change every Sunday, but it's a good idea to get there earlier (before 11) otherwise the popular types run out. Mine came with pear and Manchego cheese, which was quite an interesting combo. The biscuits are crumbly and rich. Could have used more filling to balance out the large biscuits, but still it was quite a decent breakfast. read more

Decided to try this place out at the Baltimore Farmers Market and I think I made a mistake when I ordered my biscuits. Instead of getting it as a sandwich, I had it plain. My first clue should have been all the people waiting in line for an actual sandwich as compared to me ordering six biscuits and receiving all six in the span of five minutes. The biscuits were not as moist as I expected and a bit dry. Although big in size I would have traded size for better flavor. I'll have to try a sandwich the next time I go. read more

My first encounter with Blacksauce Kitchen was at a Beer, Bourbon and BBQ festival at National Harbor and I can type this with all certainty that this was absolutely the BEST sandwich I've ever eaten! The line was a bit long, but the wait was well worth it, for standing in the hot sun and forgoing the free beer and bourbon flowing all around me I was rewarded with a double smoked bacon biscuit sandwich with aged cheddar and onion jam. BOOM! My life has never been the same. All bacon I've eaten has paled in comparison and now I am seriously contemplating taking a road trip down to Baltimore just to find their food truck and indulge again. Do NOT pass them up!!!!!! read more

This dynamic duo and their fresh fare get me out of bed at 7:30a on Sunday mornings (and sometimes Saturdays at Waverly) when the Baltimore Farmer's Market is in season. On opening day they offered braised lamb on a fresh house-made cheddar rosemary biscuit, and I promise you, you'll not have a better handheld breakfast on a Sunday morning. If you thought it couldn't get any better than a biscuit sandwich, you're wrong. I can never deny when they offer a sausage gravy over a split biscuit, amazing creamy, savory flavors that is the best I've ever had. Vegetarians, don't fear...they always offer a veg friendly biscuit option as well. I've already said aloud many times that if there will be a wedding in my future, the men of Blacksauce Kitchen will be my first choice to provide their goods. read more

I've been waiting to try this place for awhile now and today was the day. It was raining out and I wish they had an extra tent for customers but I found somewhere to stand under luckily. Chose the steak and free range egg on biscuit plus an extra buttermilk biscuit. Sandwich was tasty and not dry at all. Biscuit was soft and buttery. Meat had a little pink which I am not used to but who cares when it tastes that good I will def be back to try other things. read more

Great! Went with a couple friends and we tried everything on the menu except for the biscuits and gravy (next time, I wanted to try the sandwich as an intro). The biscuit is just like everyone else describes. Buttery, flaky, and awesome. The smoked pork loin was tasty and fresh cut. The turkey sausage pairs nicely with the cheddar biscuit and what I think was an apple butter spread. The cider was excellent and went a long way in warming me up on a cold morning. Swing by the Baltimore Farmers' Market and give them a try, you'll be happy you did. read more

Heaven on a biscuit. The line was long but it moved pretty fast and was well worth the wait. I didn't really like the peach limemade. read more

We really couldn't be happier with about having had Blacksauce cater our September wedding. Their team really thought of everything. Blacksauce's food has been our favorite in Baltimore for years, so of course, the meal was on point. Our guests are still raving about it. Damian crafted a beautiful menu that was seasonal, elevated, and comforting. Shaunielle coordinated everything seamlessly, from having staff members set up our ceremony chairs to making sure my husband and I had hors d'oeuvres and wine set aside for us to enjoy during cocktail hour. Communication throughout was great (bonus shout-out to Laura, who helped us with planning in the beginning phases before moving out-of-state). Thank you all for being the part of our wedding I never had to worry about! read more

I must say after all the hype I have heard about this vendor I was disappointed I got out of my bed to be sure to get in line early to experience their menu only to be greeted by a sourpuss she made no attempt to say even good morning based on my first experience with them I certainly would not make the effort to go back the meat and biscuits were just mediocre there wasn't much to taste to the food it's a fancy way to write it up but it isn't worth oh the hype and it's most definitely over-priced the woman that was taking the orders and handling the money had a very snippy attitude and was unwelcoming. I don't think that I would be going back read more

I was extremely excited to try Blacksauce Kitchen based on the reviews. It came up a little short but I would be more than happy to give it another try! Ordered the Garlic sage biscuit, braised beef shank and cider braised pork sandwiches. The biscuits here are no joke.. very heavy, crunchy on the outside and warm and fluffy on the inside. The cider braised pork was pretty tasty by itself but felt a bland when put in the biscuit. I think the meat to biscuit ratio was off unfortunately. The Braised beef shank though was fantastic! Came with caramelized onions that added a punch of flavor to the sandwich and the meat to biscuit ratio in this one was just right. Overall, I'd definitely give this place another try specially since the menu changes so often. read more

I'm pretty impressed with Blacksauce. I visited them at the Baltimore Farmers Market under the JFX on Sundays. They're in the corner of what I think of as the market "annex" - the small parking lot across the street. The line moved quickly and I got a IPA-braised pork biscuit sandwich. They had just run out of sweet potato biscuits when I got there, which was a bummer. Each sandwich costs $7 (in line with other prices at the market) and it seems like they switch up the menu a little each week. The sandwich was delicious - nothing but buttery biscuit and tender pulled pork. Eating it was a bit of a messy production - but impressively the biscuit mostly stood up to the grease from the pork and didn't totally disintegrate. I don't think my stomach (or my jeans) could handle this much butter and grease every week, but as a "treat yourself" moment, I recommend it. read more

I really wanted to LOVE Blacksauce Kitchen because it was one of the reasons I brought my sister to the farmers market. I had tried their biscuits a few years ago at Sage Cafe, so I was really looking forward to it! However, we tried their plain biscuits and they fried oyster sandwich and both were disappointing. 1. When the biscuits are lightly toasted, they are delicious! Because the outsides are slightly crispy and the inside is soft and warm. (That's how I had them at Sage). 2. When the biscuits were given to us without being toasted, the insides were uncooked. 3. The oyster sandwich let us down because the oyster had way too much breading so it was like eating a biscuit sandwich with a filling made of bread. The spicy relish was so spicy that it was burning our mouths. 4. Show up early! We arrived around 10:30 or 11 and they were sold out of two of their sandwiches already. This stand is apparently very popular! Overall, I would give this place a chance again, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way like I did last time. read more

Who knew there could be such magic made when bits of butter were mixed in with carbohydrates? Sweet potato biscuits, bbq meat, pulled pork, all so good. My only wish is that they had a brick and mortar, so that I don't have to wait for the weekend for the market. read more

AH-MAZ-ING!!! I can't help myself, I am in their long line every Saturday...its my addiction! Until I had a taste of Blacksauce Kitchen I had no idea you could do that much to a simple (HOMEMADE) buttermilk biscuit. The service is genuinely warm and welcoming plus the menu changes every week so you can't possibly get bored. My advice: get there early because they sell out FAST! My absolute favorite: Fried green tomato on a buttermilk biscuit (that's when I fell inlove...been going ever since) PLEASE GET A SHOP!!!! Most preferably in Mt. Vernon -- my office is there. read more

So at Blacksauce Kitchen, behind the stand where they take your money and your order, there is a "chef" who is literally carving up a nice hock of cured ham and putting it in an iron skillet. In the same iron skillet goes a free-range egg (very healthy in the fact that it is free range, not so much that it's being cooked in grease) that is going to be done over-medium to over-well in the same fat that your ham is cooking in. Multiple ham slices and multiple eggs lead to a whole lot of flavor towards the middle lineup of biscuits but it's probably super greasy too! I have to admit - their biscuits are pretty damn good. It's hard to find biscuits, especially ones like cheddar and peach, that are super soft and fluffy like the ones in the South. I do wish that they would brush a little bit of butter on top of the biscuit as it was somewhat crumbly. Cured Ham with Free-range Egg: PROS: - super filling - hefty portion of ham and egg - served and made to order, hot off the grill CONS: - I like cheese, I think it would give a bit more juice to the biscuit sandwich - biscuits are crumbly so it gets really dry but they do have unique lemonade they sell. PEACH biscuit (bought on a separate day) PROS: - hefty portion - slightly sweet but still moderately savory - good to buy a bunch home and take for lunch or brunch with the family CONS: - dry - I don't think that these are made to order, but I could be wrong. They usually just take them out of what appears to be a warming oven. The menu changes each week so it's really hard to rate them unless you go consistently. I will probably try another different item next time I go, because the fat off of that ham slice was so freaking good. read more

All I have to say is this spot has some of the most exquisite food I have ever had the pleasure of eating. My husband and I are new to Bmore, and as true foodies, we have made it our mission to seek out the tastiest morsels we can find out here. We faithfully patronize Blacksauce Kitchen every Thursday. We anxiously await the Thursday morning menu posting on IG. When we miss a week it's only because we have to conserve funds, or are out of town. They put all four feet in them vittles. The food is comforting delicious goodness exploding with flavor. I feel happy when I think about this place. I brag about the food to everyone. I urge my folks to make sure they fly in on a Thursday when they visit JUST so they can experience this palate-pleasure. It's definitely food for the soul. You.must.go. read more

I heard of this place from a family member and it is just as my rating says, A-OK. I ordered the Mushroom gravy and biscuits. The gravy and biscuits themselves tasted wonderfully, however I have two complaints. Firstly, the presentation left much to be desired. The biscuits and gravy were served up to me in a box with the biscuits completely drowned in sauce. Now the gravy and the biscuits did taste wonderfully however it was a bit cold. I don´t know if they had left my order in the side for a quick serve or they just did not cook the gravy right. The dining area was clean with the occasional stain on the floor here and there the bathroom was the same with another type of stain around. I would eat in the Blacksauce Kitchen again because I believe in the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully next time will come with a better cooked meal. read more

I often grab breakfast from Blacksauce Kitchen to munch on as I'm wandering around the Baltimore Farmer's Market, and everything I've had from them has been delicious. My personal favorites have been the fried oyster biscuit with pepper relish and their biscuits and gravy with rabbit sausage. For $7, both were more than worth it. I was thrilled to hear that they're going to be settling into a permanent location soon in Remington--I foresee stopping in frequently! read more

The grilled peaches are something sent straight from heaven! Great spot, but be prepared for the long wait.

Each time I eat biscuits from Black Sauce I finish it, get on a plane to my mama's house, walk up to her and slap her. It's. That. Good!! The lines at the Saturday Farmer's Market in Waverly off 33rd are usually much shorter than those at the Sunday Market downtown. But either way, always come early...once they run out...they are out!! read more

I have never been disappointed when I come to the farmers market and I am so super excited that they are getting a permanent location minutes from my house. The biscuits are amazing but the feelings are out of this world. The food is so amazing that you have to be careful not to try the same dishes other places because you will be severely disappointed. For example rabbit and lamb is done so well there that I am disappointed at every other kitchen that sells rabbit in Maryland. Do yourself a favor and go to the farmers market or when they open the 29th street location and you will not be disappointed. You probably will just become a regular. read more

Their menu changes weekly but I had a Beef short rib sandwich on a Brioche roll that was divine. The Cornmeal griddle cakes with Apple Butter reduction was a brilliant pairing of savory and sweet. Many have raved about blacksauce kitchen. I've tried it at their Farmers Market a while back, during which time, I wasn't too impressed. I thought the biscuits were too dry, and their meat was too salty. I heard that they opened up their store front so group of friends and I decided to give it another try. The store is located in Remington and it's ONLY open on Thursdays. There is no seating, just some places to eat while standing up. We tried their pastrami sandwich and their briskets which were the only two meat options for the day. Both pastrami and briskets, though they have a nice smokey flavor, were both quite salty and was a bit on the dry side. Their prices were quite steep as well, $11-$13 for the amount they gave you. Worth giving it a try, but don't know if it quite lives up to the hype. read more

Um there are very few words needed to describe the deliciousness of these biscuits. These are the real deal! Buttery, tender, flakey... not dry at all! One of my favorites has been the Rosemary. My BF and I often get the plain biscuits to take home and make our own personal breakfast sandwiches at home. That's not to say that the creations by Blacksauce themselves aren't fabulous as well (pear, arugula, cheddar... yum!)
