I stopped by Jerk At Nite last night, and I'm not sure if they were having an off night, but the experience was disappointing. We were seated immediately, which made sense because the restaurant wasn't busy. Unfortunately, our server never came over, so we sat for quite a while without even being offered water. Eventually, the manager/host noticed we'd been waiting and took our order himself. We ordered the tacos, wings, beef Pattie's, and mac and cheese. The tacos were absolutely amazing and honestly worth the long wait. However, the wings were undercooked and literally cold in the middle. The mac and cheese had great presentation and good flavor, but it also wasn't heated through. The top layer was melted, but the center was ice cold. The beef patties were delicious! Once a waiter finally came to our table with drinks, he promised us a complimentary second round, but it never arrived. The manager did try to make things right by offering us free shots at the bar, which I appreciated. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and has an authentic Jamaican vibe. That said, the upholstered seating could use some attention. I sank so far into the couch that I was sitting noticeably lower than the table, making it uncomfortable to eat. On a positive note, the upstairs bathroom was clean and well maintained. I debated between giving 2 or 3 stars, but ultimately went with a 3 because the food was good. It seems as though the restaurant is trying to reposition itself as a fine dining restaurant rather than a more relaxed casual one. The day we came the hostess was telling patrons that going forward a new dress code would be enforced. Our server also told us about new Michelin-like drinks that they are rolling out. There's nothing wrong with that, but the delivery to guests - especially regarding the dress code was a turn-off. That day there was a small party there for a birthday. To celebrate the birthday, the restaurant blasted happy birthday music that completely drowned out the voice of someone sitting at the same table as you. It was very inconsiderate of other guests. The food took a long time to come out which is not a big deal. However, the portion size did not justify or match the cost. Also, the Mac and cheese was an additional $6 which was shocking (2 sides are included with the di yardie). In addition to the disappointing portion size, the chicken was cold even though it was served over a flame. This place exceeded my expectations in a good way. The ambiance is amazing and the staff is super friendly. They play a lot of reggae music which is cool and they even have a display table where people outside can see you eating inside. The only thing I would recommend is when the customer is paying for the server to take a step back, when paying I felt like she was watching to see if or what her tip would have been. The food was soo flavorful and was extremely hot after we had it delivered to the table. The manager came over and asked me about food accommodations and once I was done packing up my food to go a server came over and grabbed my bowl just in time . The drinks were delicious we had the rum punch , it was perfectly portioned and was strong. I must say the prices are a little higher but it's most definitely worth the money and the experience. FAMILY REVIEW: (3.5 stars if half points are considered) Took my littles (ages 4 and 6) for a night out to eat as a way to end the Winter break. The food was flavorful, the ambience was on point, and the service was genuinely stellar--attentive without hovering, which is always a win (shout-out to Kaya, or Caya, ??) Now... the oxtails. Came here twice in the last month and a 1/2.. First time was for a walk thru for an upcoming event and second was for the actual event. Jerk at Nite could be hard to miss if walking downtown because the door is on the side, not at the main entrance but you smell the aroma of Caribbean cuisine a few feet away. The 1st time I came, our waitress was Maya and 2nd visit was Keke. They both provided great service. The manager Shon was cool, friendly, attentive and provided exceptional service. It became so busy on this beautiful 70 degree Saturday in Baltimore, he continuously checked on all tables even bringing out dishes and drinks himself. Jerk at Nite will definitely see me again! It was a group of 6 of us and we didn't have a reservation. The host and the manager worked so diligently to find us a table. We were with a birthday girl who partied too hard at her day party so we were trying our best to get her some food. The bartenders were so helpful to get her some water and offer her some coco bread while we were waiting at the bar for the table. We waited no longer than 30 mins for a table to free up. Service from our waitress, Maya was great. The food was so good. I had the curry chicken which came with two sides (I chose rice and peas and plantain). Initially was going to sit at the bar & eat but after waiting an 30 mins & no service, I decided to take my food to go. After waiting an hour my order was wrong. I then waited an additional 30 minutes for them to correct it & when it came out it was in a regular bowl as if I was eating there. Food was good but the serving was way too small for the price. I was given my carry-out order in a "small" container for leftovers. I gave a tip although no one deserved one. Also they charged an additional fee just for sitting down. Ok. So the most important part is the food and it was simply delicious from start to finish. The chicken tacos were better than the salmon tacos but both were very good. We wanted oxtails and lamb chops but they'd run out of both. We weren't too bummed because we came after a comedy show so it was pretty late. The only negative about the food was that it came out at three very different times without napkins nor silverware. That said, our server, Maya, was super sweet even though it seemed she was stretched thin. We didn't see many people serving tables but at some point, I think a/the chef came out to serve us as well. Even during their business hours and I called for two or three days before my reservation and they make you leave a deposit for your reservation too . The parking is really bad because of the location. You are almost forced to almost park in a garage whether you want to or not especially if you go on a night where there's a show at the Hippodrome theater around the corner. Second time going to jerk at night and it was phenomenal. I tired salmon nachos, the chicken and salmon tacos, the oxtails, the jerk chicken, the fried snapper, the Rasta pasta, the rum cake, and the bread, pudding, the lamb chops, and the mac & cheese. Everything was superb from the seasonings, presentation and the customer service was immaculate. Special shout out to my girl Maya, who was very attentive, very welcoming very warming. It was a phenomenal experience. I definitely will come back again. The ambience is very unique. It looks like something from a storybook with all of the low lighting the pictures on the wall and they have a lot of ethnic decor, which I totally appreciate. The food here was amazingly delicious - it was the service that made this business lose a star. Us, and several other customers, waited for several minutes at the front of the restaurant before any one even acknowledged us. Then, when we let them know we wanted to place a to go order, the guy at the bar audibly complained about having to do to go orders. We went to the bar (as instructed) to place our order and we were told that we had to pay more and get an order for here and then we could box it to go. We wanted our food at that point, so we agreed, waited for our food, and boxed it on our own when they brought it out. While waiting, the bar tender continued to go on and on about being tired, complained about customers, we saw several orders sent back, and he just continued to talk trash about customers instead of trying to get things corrected. Came to Baltimore for a conference, this was a few blocks up the street from the hotel. I love finding a great place in a different city. First, the food is fantastic. We had the beef patties and jerk chicken, both perfect portions for sharing. The patties were delicious and the chicken was tender. And the food has the perfect balance of spicy and flavor. I've been to places where the spice level overpowered the flavor. Here, the flavors were enhanced by the level of spice. Second, the service was top notch. The server was familiar with the menu, made appropriate suggestions, and checked on us just enough to keep our dining experience comfortable. Even the chef himself came into the dining room and asked how we were enjoying the food. To top it off the restaurant has a cool vibe. I decided this would be a good choice for date night dinner last Saturday because the last time I was there for their soft opening, it seemed very promising. They have a speakeasy upstairs that I was informed was open now and I had been excited about coming back to try it out since the initial walk through. Although they are not in the best part of the city, I still thought it would be a good idea for dinner. I was completely surprised to see there was no one sitting at the bar and a lot of empty tables in the restaurant. The vibe still seemed nice and people were there enjoying themselves. We opted for the window seat which we realized was an open door with an acrylic large window piece leaning against the door frames. This became evident after looking at it for some time and seeing broken glass at the bottom and trying to figure out where the breeze was coming from. Interesting. A smashed fly and its guts also remained on the piece. After placing drink orders and our entrees, I got up to wash my hands. This is when I realized the women's bathroom was all the way upstairs. I made my way up the stairs and into the bathroom which didn't have paper towels and was out of soap. The doors were falling off the hinged and there was no toilet paper on the actual rolls, they were just on top of some of the toilet paper holders. The bathroom was dirty. I was so embarrassed I had suggested coming here for dinner. I made my way back downstairs and dinner head arrived. I was torn between leaving and staying and also mentioning what I have seen in the bathroom. My date commented about how great the food looked and smelled and said they were good with staying. I sat down and he started to eat. The cabbage was really good and I enjoyed the escovitch vegetables. The snapper was warm and not piping hot like you'd expect from a freshly fried fish. Our server was polite but definitely over promised and wasn't too well informed. When we sat down and decided to order drinks, I asked if theirspeakeasy was open and was informed it was. She asked if we'd like to to eat up there but we declined and agreed to go up there after dinner. Well after dinner arrives and as we made our way upstairs we were informed it was closed when I asked if we could take the elevator up as a gentleman was about to go in. Our server was behind us and I turned to her and said I thought you said it was open and she acts a gentleman who I believe was one of the managers there if it was and he said no. So okay. This is one of the main reasons I decided to come. Although I wasn't surprised because there wasn't anyone sitting at the bar downstairs. I had hoped that upstairs was a little bit more busier. I'm not too sure what's going on but this was a Saturday night and the restaurant was pretty much dead. Later on in the evening, my stomach started feeling upset and instead of enjoying the rest of our evening on the town, I had to rush back. As we were heading back, I started replaying the night and what could have been wrong with my stomach and I realized it must have been the fish. It wasn't hot and steamy and they must have re-warmed it. My stomach is very sensitive, so I'm pretty sure that's what it was. It was less than an hour before my stomach started feeling awkward. There were a few small bones in the tacos but the flavors were very good and they had tons of meat in them. Also tried the jerk wings and oxtail nachos. The wings were so good and had a nice kick to them. They gave us complementary rum punch samples because it was our first visit, it was very good and I got a tiny buzz off the sample so that tells you how strong it was. I loved the vibe, the music was bumping and the service was great. It got loud and everyone danced when they sang happy birthday to everyone. It was a good time. Absolutely fantastic time both times I went. Went in December before the holidays and then again in early January. Both times, arrived around 7pm and got great seating in the booth areas near the hostess station. The food, both times, was top notch. Ox tails, jerk chicken, curry chicken and fish are delicioso!! I have to say that I am surprised that a Jamaican spot doesn't sell ginger beer. That was very strange and I hope they fix that soon. I also find that the beef patties price is inflated. But, everything is delicious and the presentation of the jerk chicken in the pot is gorgeous. If I had a complaint, it was that the music tended to be loud at times and the happy birthday song can be a bit overdone when it is back to back. I feel like they should do the birthday song celebrations at once to as many people as possible at the same time by having a staff person at each table singing the song and bringing the candled cake. But, in short, we will be back. We are looking forward to seeing what the speakeasy vibe is like. read more

We were so disappointed and hesitated to eat here but we opted to stay since we wanted to try them out since opening. Another stereotypical Jamaican establishment that doesn't have enough inventory of what they sell, and has rude staff to boot. They were truly jerks at nite (particularly the woman handling checkout, the man was nice). Glad to see the cuisine option at the arena but super disappointed by the experience. The vibe and decor were on point, and the music was top-tier. My homegirl took me here in Dec for my birthday. This review is reflecting that visit. They are very warm here. I casually mentioned why we came and out of nowhere, they started blasting "Happy Birthday" by Busy Signal. Too cute lol.. my gf really enjoyed the Jammin' Salmon. I had the Choppa Dem (lamb chops) and tried some Kingston Kurry goat last time I came - very good as well. On both occasions, I chose the rice & peas and cabbage. Love the cabbage paired with all of their entrees tbh. It's cooked down and not that crunchy variety you sometimes see. Their plantain is on the sweeter side, if you're wondering. Perfect add-on with the sides. They prioritize flavor over spice here so don't be scared to add scotch bonnet if you need to. There's consistently a decent meat-to-rice ratio as well. The manager Shon knows his way around a cocktail. Definitely try the lemon drops or margarita over the rum punch (a bit too sweet imo). The only annoyance I have is that the women's restroom is up a winding staircase. It's clean, but a little ducked off. Oh & definitely uber if you can. Check this place out though. My boyfriend and I visited this establishment and had a great time. The food was amazing and I had a margarita that was tasty as well. My only complaint was the hostess forgot to add our names to the list when we arrived and it caused us to be overlooked twice before she realized it even after it was brought to her attention and it took forever to get our check. First of all, I can't order for pick up online because it tells me to call. But you can't call because one of the numbers online is wrong and the other they don't answer. Now for the food. Flavor wise, everything was good as expected. However, I got the Rasta pasta with added jerk chicken and they put a disrespectful amount of chicken on there. And for the ox box, they forgot my Rasta bread. For about $25 per dish, the portion of the chicken is disappointing and I'm not trying to be skimped out of anything I paid for. I visit this restaurant on a Saturday night and had heard so much about the DC location that I had to try the Baltimore location. Walking in I was mesmerized by the interior decor. You can definitely tell that a lot of effort was put into the look of this restaurant and also keeping it authentic to Jamaican culture.
