Wow! I hadn't heard of this spot before. We wanted takeout on a Friday night and I searched comfort food on GrubHub. Sugarbee's came up and the food sounded great and the reviews were good so we decided to try it out. I ordered jerk chicken rasta pasta and my bf ordered their jumbo chicken pot pie. The food came in the given time frame and was packed very well and piping hot. The pot pie is huge and packed full of chicken and veggies. Very delicious and great flavor. There is a delicious sauce that comes with it as well for some added kick. My Rasta pasta was also delicious. Nice creamy sauce, lots of flavor, and generous amount of tender chicken which was very well seasoned. I chose mild and it had a good enough kick for me; I might try the medium spice level next time! But this has plenty of flavor as is. Also came with a nice sweet, soft roll. Overall, I really enjoyed this spot and will definitely be getting more food from here! read more

Wow! I stumbled across this place after searching for Rasta pasta on Uber eats. I am so glad this was one of the recommended spots. I decided on the jerk salmon rice pasta, which came with cocoa bread to my surprise, for $19.99. I also ordered a side of plantains for $4.99. My food was delivered hot and ready in 45 minutes. The food is absolutely delicious! The portion of this Rasta pasta could be shared by two people or enough to have leftovers for lunch the next day. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the Rasta pasta had the perfect amount of spice with a creamy jerk sauce. The plantains were also pretty good. I will definitely be ordering again! Hey friends! I love small mom and pop shops, so I was super exciting walking into Sugarbee's. It's inside of a food hall(make a left at the entrance) in Downtown Baltimore. I received a warm greeting from the cashier. I received my food in about 15 minutes. I ordered the Shrimp Rasta Pasta. For $19, it was a good size portion. It also came with a dinner roll. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the dish packed flavor! Minus points for the dry dinner roll and I would've preferred a thicker sauce. But, the dish was great overall! I burnt my tongue because it was so good I couldn't wait for it to cool down lol. If you're in Downtown Baltimore, I recommend you try them. My brother in law said he was going to sugarbee's and asked did I want anything. I asked what kind of food they had and he said Caribbean. So I ordered my usual curry chicken, cabbage and rice with a side of coco bread. I had no expectations but I will say this place surprised the heck out of me. The chicken was tender, the curry sauce was the perfect consistency, and my cabbage was delicious. It was so good I went back again on my own. It was just as good the second time around. The service was actually really good which if you eat Caribbean food you know is not a given. The prices were very reasonable. All the reasons why, they are my new go to spot. I had a hankering for a good chicken pot pie. I knew a couple diners that had really decent pot pies but they are quite the hike and I didn't feel like the drive so... off to Yelp, I went... **searching** Sugarbee's popped up and I was really impressed with what I was reading. I looked at the address and was trying to picture where this place was. Turns out it's located in the Charles Plaza right next to the Charles Towers. There's this relatively small eatery space that used to be packed during the weekday lunchtime crowd. Since the pandemic, it's practically a ghost town but there are a few vendors that have sustained the downturn. Sugarbees is one of them. I highly recommend, if you want to help support local businesses, Sugarbees is one that really deserves ur dollars/support. They only do carry out, considering restrictions and social distancing but trust me, you will NOT be disappointed. As previously mentioned, I opted for the following: 1) 'Homemade Jumbo Chicken Pot Pie Platter': Fresh chunky chicken breast, tender carrots, sweet peas and homemade broth in a crumbly pie crust and cooked to golden perfection. When I tell you this pie is GINORMOUS, I'm really not doing it justice. I wear size XXL gloves and this pie is almost as big as my hands (see attached photo). Now this pie tastes like it came straight out of ur grandmama's kitchen. It literally took me two days to finish. The only gripe is that it's called a 'platter' yet it comes with no side(s). That's a little misleading but still a delicious dish. Yummmmmm-o! A definite re-order. SCORE!!! 2) Next, I selected the 'Maryland Crab Soup' - this is homemade and delicious. I ordered a bowl but the serving container was so tiny. I thought, 'this MUST be a mistake. Ain't no way, this little bit can fill and bowl'. So I asked to verify it was the correct size. It was... *womp womp*. HOWEVER... This soup was made by the angels, themselves!!! BOMB AZZ GOOD!!!! A definite MUST TRY! SCORE! Final assessment - Sugarbee, see you soon, girl!!! read more

Spice! I love Caribbean cuisine and there are a plethora of different restaurants to choose from. Today we were lucky enough to try Sugarbee's. I had the gumbo and my God was it delicious. It is the perfect amount of creamy and the flavor is powerful and rich. It also came with garlic bread. I also sent a photo to all of my family just to tease them. I got the turkey bacon chipotle ranch wrap. It is good but could use some more flavor. (Hence all the pepper in the picture. But it does taste fresh and is full of meat. The pasta salad was ok, it has raisins which to me is a bit off, so I did end up picking them out. Also got an order of fried plantains. Now those were amazing! Sugarbee's has the most AMAZING homemade chicken pot pie I'd ever had. It's filled with big chunks of chicken, carrots, and peas. I don't eat peas at all because of an experience I had as a kid when cold peas kept me from getting an ice cream sandwich at daycare when I was 6. I swore off peas until NOW! The pot pie is big enough for two people to share, but trust me, you are going to want your own. The crust is nice and flakey and thick. Service is decent, but can be improved at best. Sugarbee's homemade pot pies were one of the small highlights during a recent business trip to Baltimore. Huge, full of creamy veggie chunks and white meat chicken and topped with 360 degrees of flaky brown crust. Yes, unlike those cheapo frozen Swanson pot pies, Sugarbee's surrounds the entire pie filling with baked homemade crust. Little details like this excite me. As I eat, I scream silently in my head, WINNER! WINNER! POT PIE DINNER! Even better, the pot pies are around $9 each. A great value. Wow and delicious! I didn't take any pictures because my pot pie looked exactly like the other pictures on Yelp. Kudos for consistency. Beware, not all is delicious here. Some of the soups, sandwiches and salads were very pedestrian. The jambalaya with chicken and sausage was very good with 3 chunks of fried sweet plaintains on the side, however, the spices in the jambalaya did not taste homemade, more like from a box. Points lost on that one. Sugarbee's is located in a non-descript food court off St. Charles Street and Saratoga in a seedy part of town loaded with panhandlers, however, it's safe during the day. Love the Cream of Crab and Maryland Crab Soup. Just like my grandma used to make. The Jerk Chicken is amaze, the red beans and rice are delish. I love the fried plantains and I am picky about plantains. The Jambalaya is what I tried today and it's really good. This is my favorite take out place in a 1 mile radius. just got a wonderful chicken pot pie from Sugarbees. It looked and smelled WONDERFUL, and tastes great, big chunks of chicken, chunks of peas and carrots, filled with a wonderful thick gravy. I got one for me, but really two people could split one. Love their salads and pastas so I just knew I was going to love the burgers. Yeah wrong. I ordered a turkey burger and fries and it was disgusting. The burger was dry in the inside; like they used a turkey patty and not freshly made turkey burgers as the guy described to me. When the guy asked what type of roll I wanted the burger on (white, wheat, or rye) I thought it was going to be an actual roll. It wasn't until I actual sat down to eat that I learned the bread was the same one you make pb &j on and they added flare by putting it on a pannini maker. The fries were partially cooked and cold. Just an all around no. Next time I'll stick to what I know (their salads and pasta) and stop being adventurous. Those 3 stars are for the pasta and salads. They actually deserve 5 stars for that. Friendly service, and good food. Crab cake sandwich, and pasta salad for under $10. The pasta salad had raisins, and this dressing that 3 days later I am still thinking about. The only negative is when they did the panini press on the bun, it made it fall apart. I ended up eating the sandwich with a knife and fork. But don't get me wrong, it was great! read more
