Pros: the accuracy of our order was 100%. I had the Jamaican jerk wings w 2 sides of macaroni and cheese. The jerk flavoring was really good, although I like my wings done a little more. Seasoned well and not too mushy or overcooked. I really enjoyed it. The Mac and cheese was a good texture but it could have been seasoned a little better and a little more sharp cheese. But the consistency of the Mac was great and I did eat all of it. The fish was fried crispy and seasoned very well. I think the sizes of my pieces of fish were decent. No complaints. I'm a regular customer at Next Phase, and I truly enjoy the food and atmosphere, which is why I keep coming back. This is a cute spot that I've only had drinks at because it's not far from my destination. Tonight I decided to try some food and was able to use a discount for my first order! The menu isn't large and frankly with meals like this it doesn't need to be. This food was definitely made with LOVE! The fish was seasoned amazingly legit just right. The Mac had its own flavor and style which was a change from usual Mac's I've had in this area but I welcomed it because being honest the best Mac I've had here was at Chick-fil-A. Yes, that's how bad the ones I've tried have been. All that to say YUMMM. And finally the greens! I am not a fan of their cut because I do love stems but smaller ones would make this better than the Mac. Otherwise this was cooked very well. I went there on a Friday night to celebrate my birthday with friends and family. The place reminds me of like a cool jazz lounge you might find tucked away in New York City somewhere. Very nostalgic and I loved every minute of it. Our waitress was very accommodating and attentive. The man at the front door who was either the owner or the manager was very nice. Our food was beyond amazing. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered, and the drinks were very, very, very strong! and if you don't drink, alcohol, the mocktails were yummy. The band performing that night was Cafe Red and they were perfection, they even gave me a birthday shout out. I had a nice time during my visit at this black owned business. My waiter was good. The owner was very nice and welcoming. You can tell that he really cares about his customers having a great experience. The food was delicious. I ordered the bayou pasta with chicken and salmon with a side of cornbread. The pasta was very saucy and cheesy just how I like it. The salmon was seasoned well. It was the perfect dish. The cornbread was good. I would order all items again. The bayou pasta is large enough to have leftovers tomorrow. My drink was very good too. I love that there was a live band. The owner stated he has a different band every Friday and he doesn't have a cover charge. The crowd is mature and classy. Street parking is available, but it is not free until after 6pm. I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken platter and the food was bland and the chicken could've been cooked a tad bit longer. The collard greens were tender, but lacked flavor as well as the rice pilaf. The wings were a little tough to eat and weren't all that crispy. I had to put seasoning on my food to enhance the flavor, which was good after I added seasoning.
