My husband and I were in town on a work trip. Saw this restaurant on door dash and decided to give it a shot. Price and delivery time were around what we expected. Pros: the accuracy of our order was 100%. I had the Jamaican jerk wings w 2 sides of macaroni and cheese. The jerk flavoring was really good, although I like my wings done a little more. Where can you go and get a full meal at 12oclock in the morning on a Saturday night?? We came in hungry and were so happy to find out that the kitchen didn't close until 130am!! And they had late night happy hour drink deals too!! We sat at the bar and watched the rest of the NBA game. I'm a regular customer at Next Phase, and I truly enjoy the food and atmosphere, which is why I keep coming back. OMG I had to show the before and after because I think that should say all it needs to be said but I'll indulge. This is a cute spot that I've only had drinks at because it's not far from my destination. Tonight I decided to try some food and was able to use a discount for my first order! I went there on a Friday night to celebrate my birthday with friends and family. The place reminds me of like a cool jazz lounge you might find tucked away in New York City somewhere. Very nostalgic and I loved every minute of it. Our waitress was very accommodating and attentive. The man at the front door who was either the owner or the manager was very nice. Our food was beyond amazing. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered, and the drinks were very, very, very strong! and if you don't drink, alcohol, the mocktails were yummy. The band performing that night was Cafe Red and they were perfection, they even gave me a birthday shout out. Next Phaze Cafe has been in my black-owned restaurant foodie visit list for months. When I noticed that the restaurant offered delivery through Grubhub, I jumped at the chance to give them a try. Sad to say, my experience was just "ok". Their menu is very small and they don't offer many sides. I ordered the catfish for myself, shrimp and chicken for my sons. While the flavors were good, they were really something you would write home about. The restaurant doesn't have a niche, something that makes them standout amongst all of the soul food restaurants in Baltimore. I will say their prices are comparable to another restaurants, but the food is as forgettable. I will keep an eye on their menu with hopes that they will make some changes or add more options.
