    Chocolate cake shots

Where can you go and get a full meal at 12oclock in the morning on a Saturday night?? We came in hungry and were so happy to find out that the kitchen didn't close until 130am!! And they had late night happy hour drink deals too!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat at the bar and watched the rest of the NBA game. There were a few other couples at the bar and there was music playing but it wasn't too loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Delvin was our waiter/bartender. He told us a few jokes and was overall very nice. He made us a chocolate cake shot that was delicious. Next phase did not disappoint.

I ordered my meal on DD and it came pretty quickly and was still hot. I ordered the catfish platter with cabbage and Mac and cheese. The cabbage was really good. Seasoned well and not too mushy or overcooked. I really enjoyed it. The Mac and cheese was a good texture but it could have been seasoned a little better and a little more sharp cheese. But the consistency of the Mac was great and I did eat all of it. The fish was fried crispy and seasoned very well. I think the sizes of my pieces of fish were decent. No complaints. I couldn't tell if the sweet potato pie was home made but I did like it. No too sweet. Overall, I would order from here again!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm a regular customer at Next Phase, and I truly enjoy the food and atmosphere, which is why I keep coming back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, I've noticed that my orders are consistently wrong -- either the server doesn't ring it up correctly, or the cook prepares it incorrectly. It's been happening pretty often lately, and honestly, it's disappointing because I order from here a lot. For now, I'm going to take a break from ordering until this issue improves. I really hope the team can get this worked out, because I'd love to come back and support you all again soon.

So far I've had the wings, salmon, catfish, crispy chicken sandwich, greens, string beans, and the mac & cheese. The food has been amazing! My favorites for now are the Cajun salmon, the Mac & cheese, and the sweet potato pie. Another standout side is the rice pilaf, well done, which a lot of places mess up sometimes. The service here is also great. It's a family owned business, and it shows in the love that they bring to their quality of food and customer service. Definitely a must try! - Coach E

Very disappointing. Ordered wings platter with yams and mac and cheese. We were told after waiting for about 20 minutes that we had to wait for the mac and cheese to come out of the oven; ended up waiting about 45 minutes for the order. The wings were not thoroughly fried, the Mac and cheese was very runny and seasoned with too much garlic powder. The yams were dry, stringy and had a strange taste--maybe the type of butter used??? This was my second visit and thought I'd give it another try but the first visit was a very similar experience.

Quick and yummy! I had jury duty and walked across the street to this restaurant for lunch. It didn't disappoint! The fish was fried to perfection and the Mac and cheese was very delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside is spacious with plenty of seats and WiFi for me to get a little work done.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everyone was friendly and gave suggestions on best sellers. This will be my go to place when I have jury duty or I'm in the area :)

this type of plate make you not want to support black businesses. im at the Mill on North location and this is just terrible catfish. not sure it's cooked all the way. it's mushy & portions are trash for $19. The absolute 2 smallest pices of cat fish they could possibly find and serve. Lady at the counter, her service was terrible, she had a terrible attitude from just asking her what ingredients were in the mac and cheese. And she had a thick mustache.

I think I have to try this place at a later hour. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I arrived it was pretty empty but it was early afternoon on a Monday so I'll give them some grace.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I see a lot of potential. Now for the food, I ordered a Catfish Platter with string beans and Mac & Cheese. The catfish was fried nicely, no complaints. The Mac & cheese was flavorful but it wasn't my favorite and the string beans were good but they didn't taste super fresh. Overall the plate itself was 6.5/10. I want to attribute this to the time of day because it seems that most people go during later hours so I will definitely try it again and they have events to offer. I'll be back.

Next Phaze Wing Platter, honey old bay wings with collard greens, Mac and cornbread.

Stopped in during jury duty lunch, and it was delicious. Candy was greeting everyone and extremely pleasant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Pretty quiet as everyone was enjoying their food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely coming back whenever I'm in the area.

The food is mid. The catfish was cut perfectly the greens lat flavor. The mac & cheese was kind of stiff, the yams were kinda hard still and no like sauce or anything in them. I probably won't go back maybe for the catfish.

The honey old bay wings were tasty. Along with the macaroni. The collard greens were a tad bit salty. The customer service was great. Food was hot and fresh. The restaurant was small but inviting. Nice location. Quality food I would recommend

OMG I had to show the before and after because I think that should say all it needs to be said but I'll indulge. This is a cute spot that I've only had drinks at because it's not far from my destination. Tonight I decided to try some food and was able to use a discount for my first order! The menu isn't large and frankly with meals like this it doesn't need to be. This food was definitely made with LOVE! The fish was seasoned amazingly legit just right. The Mac had its own flavor and style which was a change from usual Mac's I've had in this area but I welcomed it because being honest the best Mac I've had here was at Chick-fil-A. Yes, that's how bad the ones I've tried have been. All that to say YUMMM. And finally the greens! I am not a fan of their cut because I do love stems but smaller ones would make this better than the Mac. Otherwise this was cooked very well. I'm not sure if the sauce in the cup but I used it on my fish and it seemed like that was the right idea. Normally I'm not a bread with meals eater but I need another piece LOL. This cornbread almost gave dessert and I'm glad I didn't order any. Overall I am happy to make this a spot I frequent monthly to try something new each time.

Fried catfish, double Mac and cheese and corn bread. Salmon, on a bed of rice, green beans, Mac and cheese

This place has catfish on their menu, but the fish is actually swai. I called the restaurant to tell them that I know the difference between swai and catfish. I explained my concerns to the person who answered the telephone and she said, "ok". As if to say we have your money now, so what. I asked to speak to a manager and of course he was busy. If you want catfish, I suggest you go elsewhere.

It's been open since 1994, and it's easy to see why. Ethel's is really homey and cozy and comfortable. It feels like you've taken a little day trip to New Orleans. We each ordered a couple of drinks (something tropical with rum for me, a martini for my friend, and sangria for my other friend). We shared a few items from their menu: Creole Shrimp Boat (sauteed shrimp, mussels, jumbo lump crab meat, and the fish of the day simmered in a fire roasted red bell pepper sauce, with Creole rice and the vegetable of the day); Hot Cat Stack (fried catfish stacked with sweet and savory Andouille sausage cornbread, spicy crawfish red pepper meunière, honey chive compound butter, hot honey, and the vegetable of the day); a half rack of ribs (slow roasted ribs, Louisiana dry rub seasoning, mopped in BBQ sauce, mashed potato, and the vegetable of the day); and a strawberry bread pudding. Everything was delicious. I liked every course we had, but the Hot Cat Stack was wow. I've had a lot of bad to blah bread puddings in my life, but Ethel's wasn't bad or blah. It was delicious - and not dry at all. At all. The service was friendly but not the fastest (we waited a while for dessert) and maybe just a little scattered! But we eventually got everything we ordered, and the meal overall was wonderful: delicious, fun, casual. I'd love to return!

Between us, we got the Maple salmon, Teriyaki chicken (with truffle oil pommes frites), "unconventional Caesar" salad, chicken dumplings appetizer and Sweet potato bread pudding for dessert. It was a short and lovely walk from my hotel, and I was dining alone and initially I wasn't sure how I felt about having a solo dining experience at an upscale restaurant. My concerns were immediately dispelled as soon as I opened the restaurant door. Two men greeted me and were incredibly gracious and welcoming. They quickly found my reservation and asked me if it was my first time at the restaurant and what brought me to town. Since it was pretty early for dinner (6pm on a Monday) they gave me options for where I wanted to sit, confirming that the lounge seating I reserved was best for me because it placed me near the large bay windows that faced the harbor and the setting sun. My waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. He not only knew the menu, but he had tasted several items and gave me direct feedback on items. I decided on the three-course menu with wine pairing. For starters, I had the fried oysters. The fry was light and crisp, and oysters were flavorful, still holding the freshness of the ocean. The olive bread serving was a nice touch. The second course was white truffle fettuccine with mushrooms. The mushrooms were tender, absorbing the flavor of the seasoning. The fettuccine was fresh, light and richness of the white truffle was a perfect compliment, but not overpowering. The third course was crispy wild halibut with a zucchini beignet. Again, they do a beautiful job with frying fish. The fish with lightly fried enough to get a nice crispy, but with no oily after taste. The zucchini beignet was crisp and fresh. The tartar sauce for the halibut gave the elevated dish a hearty, fun, comfort food finish. The wine pairings were perfection. From the Cremant d'Alsace Brut bubbly, which offered a refreshing and bright flavor to go with the light oysters, and even the Chardonnay, Dehlinger, which offered a citrus accent that was a nice balance with the warm, rich embrace of the fettuccine dish, Charleston sommelier experts make every effort to ensure that pairing enrich the dining experience. For those looking for an elevated dining experience in Baltimore by the Harbor, where you really feel taken cared of, I'll suggest visiting Charleston. Every staff member I engaged with, even as a solo diner, made me feel like I was a treasured guest.
