Your average cafe experience! Ordered a matcha latte and the chickpea pastry - the latte was okay (not very strong matcha flavor) and I thought there was too much filling for the amount of dough in the pastry! But the flavor wasn't bad! Inside was pretty empty when I went (weekday AM), but I could see this being a fun place to grab a drink/pastry and study - lots of seating here!

I really enjoy the community space and the baristas. Obviously, the coffee is creative. and amazing, and the baked goods are worth paring. Whether it's the Vietnamese, coffee or the Dusa de leche. This place has my heart for the best pick me up.

Me and my daughter came here on a Friday afternoon, the ambience was very relaxed and chill. It looks like a haunted Café with medieval times inside, very different, but Adam in which it was his first day was very kind and did a great job servicing us. I would highly recommend just because Adam was a cool dude and the environment is someplace different, I didn't eat just got tea which was pretty good and my daughter got chicken tikka which she loved so five out of five.

My boyfriend and I came here a little too many times on our short trip to the city (to be fair, it was down the street from our hotel). While it's a touch too dark to feel overwhelming welcoming, the pastries and drinks hold up. The gothic interior was actually charming-- really brought me back to grandma's house, especially with the huge community tables and ancient furniture. One day they were a little understaffed so our drinks took forever, but the other days were fine and we felt the quality maintained. It's not the best coffee/tea/pastries ever, but the vibes absolutely pass the test.

Bun, to me, still reminds of the early aughts when they opened or opined on a savory-dominated but sweet adjacent selection of pastries and roti and rolls--oh my! (And an array of caffeine drinks, natch!) Needed to be here tonight for some matcha tea, a cookie and some bop of Monk, Coltrane, Miles and others to calm that antsy feeling in the silence of students at laptops, the thrum of the night city and the occasional street stray jonesing for some change. The service is laid back and on point.

Unfortunately this place is just overall kind of mid. I had an iced white peach tea (very good, best thing here), along with a Vietnamese iced coffee and a cheese, egg and onion bun. Typically, places with a specific food in their name are quite good but the bun was just eh. Like not bad enough to say anything bad about it, but it's supremely ordinary. The coffee doesn't have any kick, wasn't to well balanced. I don't plan on returning here again, at least not with some food already in hand.

Love this little hidden gem. You can play games. You can study and get some of the best buns in the area! Location is tight sometimes for parking but worth it.

Loved checking this spot out. It's extremely hip and trendy. The hours make it incredible for a meetup spot for any group project or meeting. They have tables that can fit 12-15 people. The aesthetic is kind of goth and edgy. There are still a lot of comfortable seating options too. The people who work here are incredible. They're easy to talk to and really helpful. I loved that they talked to me about the different buns and which ones were best. I ordered the lemon rotiboy and the honey matcha latte. I wish I realized there were straws sooner because there was so much ice in the honey matcha it felt really watered down. When I finally got a straw I got more of the flavor. The matcha was 3.5 stars for me. My lemon rotiboy had a zesty tang. It was very filling. My friend ordered a stuffed bun and there wasn't a lot of filling inside, but she enjoyed what she did have. She also loved the hot cocoa's flavors.

Ok- I am officially 50ish and lived through a series or two of BMF . That being said, when I walked through those Bun Shop doors I immediately thought I made a wrong turn and was now in a crack house! But instantly I realized it was 2023 and this is an Internet cafe and these are not zombies! These are really intelligent, vibrant people with important things to do on their laptops! It got even better because the barista/ cashier was nice and patient because it takes me at least 5 minutes to double click and authorize my Apple Pay. OMG- I'm officially my mom! The chocolate viet coffee was aau-ight. The ginger roti bun was really good and the customer service and quiet atmosphere was top notch!

Ask the Community - The Bun Shop

I am only in Baltimore occasionally – how do they make their honey matcha latte? It was delicious.

Can you still study in here during covid?

    Yes you can!

Is there a menu or listing of the buns that are available?

As far as I know, the selection of buns are displayed along with it’s name in a long glass case which runs alongside the cashier leading straight to it :)

Dog friendly???? I saw a pup in one of the pics.

Yes, very dog friendly. That's my pup. Cheers!

I've recently started working in the area and they are supper close thus I decided to try them out…read more I was very excited when I saw it was Korean owned however their K-food section is only two items; Bulgogi Dupbap & the Bulgogi Sub. The rest of the menu is American stuff. I've as of now tried both of these and very content with the taste and filling of these two, the price is reasonable per the portion and yummyness($12.49) plus tax about $13.25. The only thing I would change a bit is making sure that the juice from the bulgogi doesn't soak the bread too much cuz then it's mushy. I like a crunchy texture to my subs, but the may be just my preference. Both the son and the mom are super nice, if you become a regular it's very nice to have people know what you want right away. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly. I hope that they can incorporate more korean food to their menu, at least 2 more that have a different protein so we have a bit more variety. Though I understand why the options for kfood are limited given the area's population. Things to keep in mind: - When you order let them know if you want it to go or to eat there. Nobody can read minds, but they will do their best to ask you prior to packaging to confirm. - It can get busy so sometimes transaction may take longer because people are multitasking. - - - Don't rip out the receipt, you might be taking the wrong copy. Wait for the cashier to hand it to you or simply ask. -If you have questions about a product, ask them and don't assume. Yes. There is a big menu and pamphlets available and they provide brief item description but if that's not clear, just ask. They also have prepackaged salads, fruit and a few sweet treats, along with MissVickies chips, and bottle drinks. It's a cafe so the basics. Overall, really nice experience. Tots recommended :3

The service was good, and the dishes were tasty, but nothing that really stood out. That being said, I miss the old owner--there was something special about his presence that made every visit feel more welcoming and personal. I hope the new management keeps things moving in the right direction. I'll definitely return, but it's just not quite the same without the old vibe.

I had the Southern Slammer Sandwich (with the grits) and my sister had the Fried Chicken, Biscuit and Gravy Omelet (with the hash browns). We couldn't stop saying how good they were! The service was on point, everyone was very nice, and the noise level was fine. Here is something I literally have never experienced anywhere else: My sister has a couple of food allergies and she gave the waitress a piece of paper where she listed out what she can and cannot have. A few minutes later, a lovely young woman (I think she said she was a manager) came out and discussed the list with my sister in detail, just to make sure the restaurant got it exactly right. My sister almost cried! As far as timing goes: They don't take reservations, but they have an efficient system -- when you arrive, they take down your name and phone number, tell you how long the wait will be, and then text you when it's your turn. They told us 40 minutes but it turned out to be only 20, so it's good we hadn't wandered too far away. Next time we're in Baltimore, we'll definitely be back.

Spousal Unit and I took the voracious pack o' GrandKiddies for breakfast after a Wicked-good night on the town in Bawlmer, hon. So we had to cart them all to Blue Moon! Blue Moon was featured on Guy Fieri's DDD show, making it (and it's second location, Blue Moon Too) insanely popular. As a result, it's always busy, and because of it's size, there is no space to wait inside until a table is ready. For a person with knee issues, that meant painfully climbing up and down the steps more than a few times (and did I mention is was windy and cold?). Once inside, it's a quirky place, with interesting art work everywhere - but the main draw is the food. Ah, the food... Blue Moon is well known for it's Sweet Baby Jesus (Hash browns topped with jumbo lump crab, seasoned with Old Bay, fresh diced tomatoes, melted cheddar cheese, 2 eggs and Hollandaise) and Captain Crunch French Toast (crushed Captain Crunch cereal encrusted French toast topped with fresh fruit and cream, served with syrup on the side). They also make a killer Biscuits and Sausage Gravy sized to feed an army, and a wide variety of pancakes, omelettes, and sandwiches. Our vultures overordered (did I say they were hungry?) but left not a scrap of food on their plates, a small wonder given that they are not adventurous eaters. Everything was beautifully cooked, promptly served, and delicious. Our server was a wisecracking joy - friendly, knowledgeable, and really efficient. She provided needed distractions as our GKs gnawed the table waiting for food to arrive. Way cool! Spousal Unit and I have eaten at Blue Moon Too in the past. It's comforting to experience the same joy at each location. Really, really recommend stopping in at eather (see what I did there?) location when you're in town.
