Within minutes it arrived and my LORD, was it delish! It was also yuge, so I am glad we ordered one to split. Last night we were on our way home from out of state and decided to try them out again. Placed a delivery order for two gyro platters - one chicken and one combo. Hell. Yes. They were frickin delish. They come with a side salad, meat and rice with two sauces to drizzle on top. A spicy red and a cooler white sauce to tone down the spice of the red one. I ate half for dinner and the other half for lunch this afternoon. This place is super affordable and the food is on point. Solid carry out food. It's exactly what you expect from your neighborhood spot. On my first order , The chocolate cake was everything!!! I ordered again and the cake was different. It appeared to be some regular store bought cake. I wont order that again unless they go back to the original cake (pictured) They are on several delivery apps, but I have experienced problems with the orders when ordering through apps, like receiving a regular cheesesteak instead of a chicken cheesesteak. Now this is truly an honest review. I did a Yelp search for places in the area I was near and Texas Chicken & Grill popped up. I was a little hesitant, but with a rating of 4.5 stars I decided to give it a try. My plan was to get dinner & lunch for us. The place was clean, booths were blocked so you couldn't sit down and the counter had a high plexi covering - I assume COVID protocol. I'm short but I thought I saw someone at the counter behind the taped menus, which block the majority of your view. I greeted the person and asked a question about a menu item. No response, so I'm now talking to myself giggling like "what did you see?" Again with the hello's trying to get someone attention in the back. Then a guy randomly walks by the counter and says "I had to wash my hands right" - he was there the entire time eating and instead of addressing me he chose to eat. My initial instinct was to walk out, but I was like they have such a good rating (woosah). I ordered 2 large Cheesesteak combos (comes with fries & soda), a Grilled Chicken salad & Chicken and rice --all given good reviews. I added a slice of chocolate cake & a small sweet potato pie. I spent @ $40+. Get home the long cheesesteak wasn't even steak - it was a pale meat substance I assume chicken. I asked for everything except tomatoes - it was basically a mayo & cheese sub...weird. I dissected it and ate some - NOT GOOD. The fries were plenty - shoestring type - ok, but needed a little love. The salad for hubby - OMG, the grilled chicken (probably cooked a day or two ago) was tough. The salad included very little lettuce, no side of dressing, green olives, pickled red onion, melted cheese & boiled egg (who said that was a garden salad) - he didn't take it for lunch...trashed. The guy told me the chicken & rice was like a gyro with tahini sauce. LIES! It was like brown rice-a-roni, tandoori chicken, topped with pickled onion & tahini sauce - NOT GOID & confused flavors. What is happening here?! The food we tried was horrible! The next day I woke feeling nauseous - that weird meat sub. A total waste of my money, time & gas used to drive there. The best thing was the small slice of cake, but not worth the $40+. The sweet potato pie is still here we are hesitant to try it. All facts...don't eat here! read more

Finally, after months of driving by this place, I had a chance to give 'em a try. From their menu it seems so much good FRIED foods to try, one doesn't know where to start. So I thought I'd go simple for this, my first time. A 2-piece meal with fries. Price was decent, the chicken was, well, FRIED but dangged it was juicy, crispy and hot (and salty as all, but it is fried afterall, duh. lol) The shoestring fries were ok, but could have cooked about a minute longer as it had that faint watery taste (you know what I am talking about, right?) Overall I think this meets or exceeds what you'd find at KFC & Royal Farms nowadays. I hope to go back soonest and try their hot wings, a few of their seafood dishes and yeah, even try their grilled chicken (they do have a couple of more healthier things available too for those who are interested). Baltimore is lacking in halal food, especially with rice combos. Don't get ripped off by the halal carts at the UMD hospital and Baltimore Soundstage! They serve dry and old food for $7/$8 dollars...NASTY! Come here-- for $7, you get such fragrant rice piled with protein on top, a fresh salad, flavorful red (spicy) & white sauces doused all over, & a can of soda! UGHHH!! SO FRIGGIN' GOOD!! It is better than the overrated "Halal Guys" franchise. You can definitely eat in store because it's clean and brightly lit inside. Good late night food. I've had the chicken and waffles and the lamb over rice. Both solid dishes. The lamb was nicely seasoned and the addition of hot sauce and tzatziki sauce is what made this dish good. My son and I ordered from here because the reviews were good, we were hungry and it was the only place open at midnight willing to deliver. It was mostly chosen for convenience but we it comes to food, we don't play! To our surprise, the food was really good. Sometimes when you order from late night eateries it is delicious because you've been out drinking all night. However, this place was good and we were sober. I ordered the chicken plate with white sauce and it was so good. It came with a small salad, rice and diced chicken. I ordered extra chicken and to be honest I don't know if I got extra chicken because I didn't have anything to compare it to. It looked like a normal order of chicken in my opinion. My son had chicken and waffles and it was delicious. He received 2 large Belgian style waffles and about 10 whole wings. He had enough to eat for dinner and for breakfast the next morning. Let's just say overall the food was good and with a name like Texas Chicken, the chicken better be big and it better be good. On another note, the menu is expansive. This time I tried their buffalo hot wings and the hot did not disappoint. The wings are cooked just right and if you like spice, get the hot. It's a little more wet than I particularly like, but it's still good. I might try their mild next time to see the flavor of that one.
