I was very excited about ordering from Hey Daddy's. Should've come here first! The food was pretty much a disappointment, except the beef patty and cocoa bread. The party wings were partied out. The breading tasted old and a tad over cooked. The jerk chicken/curry chicken plate with rice/peas and cabbage...it was barely warm!! I'm thankful for their effort, and the beef patty. But I don't foresee myself ordering from Daddy's again. Luckily I heard a new carribean restaurant is opening a mile from Daddy's. Hopefully they'll be an improvement. read more

My husband and I are always looking for different Black businesses to support and we are avid Caribbean food lovers, especially oxtails. This was our first and last time eating there. He ordered two orders of oxtails, rice and peas, and cabbage. The cabbage was yellow in color and tasted pickled it was horrible. The peas and rice had no flavor and the peas were non-existent. The oxtails were salty and mostly fat. The sauce or gravy whatever it was tasted like flour. Just horrible. We spent almost 50 dollars on food that we threw in the garbage because it wasn't edible. I was really looking forward supporting and eating their food for the first time, but they were closed. It was a midday on Sunday and according to their Instagram they were open. I called and sent them a DM, neither received a response. I couldn't place an order through their online service either. A simple, "We're closed for the day", would have sufficed but I guess doing something that small isn't important enough for running a business. Loved the waffle I got here! It's a little hole in the wall take out joint. Service is a little slow, but they were super nice, and you can tell they care about their new business. I will never order from hey daddy's again I ordered from them via doorDash on October 14 and my order was canceled after one hour because they did not have the ingredients needed for my order. They did not start making the dish or attempting to make the dish rather until my door dasher got to the establishment. Fast forward to today November 22 they couldn't complete my order again it was canceled because they didn't start attempting to make my order until my Dasher got there and he couldn't wait and that was after an hour of placing my order. I try to support small businesses but this left a very sour taste in my mouth I will never order from them again! read more

Take out spot family run business. Everything I've had was good. I've had the turkey bacon egg and cheese sandwich, the lemon pepper wings, jerk wings and the Po Boy Catfish sandwich. The wings are good I just ask that they be extra crispy. Just a preference. Don't expect crispy unless you ask for it. The only complaint I have is the amount of time it takes to get your meal. I understand everything is cooked fresh and not made until ordered, but still 30 minutes for a breakfast sandwich is too long. I suggest you call all your orders in ahead of time, (Problem solved). It's a new restaurant and I'm sure they are going through a little bit of growing pains. OMG! Today was my first time here at Hey Daddy. I got shrimp and grits. I open up the container and it looks amazing! The shrimp were warm and I stuck my fork into the grits and it was like hitting a brick. Simply stellar. The care and creativity that are brought to life through these creations are simply amazing. Althought the neighborhood isn't asthetically pleasing to the untrained eye, this little hole in the wall gem on the Sounthwest side of Baltimore offers more than enough of a justification to pay them a visit. One of my absolute favorites is the Catfish Po'boy. The enormous fillets lay breaded and seasoned atop the hoagie roll that cradles both the fillets, lettuce, and sauce that is out of this world. If you're ever looking for a meal to cure insomnia, this will definitely do the trick. Another great option is the salmon wrap (I know that I'm going on a seafood run in this review but it's well worth it) that is simply amazing. I had the pleasure of having it fresh off the grill and also as leftovers from the fridge and you honestly can't go wrong with either. The wonderfully stuffed wrap is loaded with seasoned rice, veggies, and of course, salmon grilled to seasoned bliss and trickled with fantastic sauce. Two must haves when making a visit. Now Don't let this review fool you. The menu is a little intimidating for the average eye because of the plethora of options that you wouldn't dare to think about making up in your kitchen at home. From the crazy amounts of breakfast platters, to the wonderful seafood combinations, and cannot forget about the pastas, wings, and crowd favorite cheesesteaks. This comfort food palace will send your tastebuds on a rollercoaster ride even Hell's Kitchen reruns have not prepaired you for. If ever visiting the city of Baltimore and looking for a hearty, cooked with love, put you to sleep for the night, jab, jab, hook, they're out cold for the night meal, this is your destination. Came in here today and ordered a Cesar salad and this is how my salad was given to me. A Cesar salad consist of dressing, Parmesan and croutons. Came from Pikesville to try them. 1st thing was they had special for the day was Rasta Pasta... They said that it's been up there for a while but they don't have it.(with that being said, please have what you say you have and take the time to update your specials of the day). However, the lady (she had an accent) taking my order advise the very tall gentleman that I'd driven a minute to come to try them and he said that he'd have to cook the noodles and he made it for me. Can I say, 'WELL WORTH THE WAIT"! My friend and I also purchased Grits & Salmon (9), Salmon Platter w/Brocolli (9). The only thing that was disappointing was I ordered 10 lemon pepper wings but they were cooked in grease that had also cooked fish (2). This I know because I'm also a caterer and each bite tastes like catfish. I was unable to eat more than two as the taste of fish oozed from the chicken. I had to throw them out. the mango peach was delicious. They were also out of mac&cheese and banana pudding. I would definitely return but I think being a place with good food you have to and new customers, it will discourage them from returning if your missing a lot of your top items or if you leave your guess in the lobby for over an hour and don't let them know you haven't forgotten that they're out there.
