My sister and I had a great experience at Black Bottle the other night. It was easy to make a quick reservation and we got a fantastic table. the food was great and so was the service. The kicker was that our waiter (I think his name was Evan) ran down two blocks to return my sister's cell phone when she left it on the table. Ambiance is fine, but they shouldn't take reservations for patio seating when in fact there was no patio open (on a spectacular day). Service was mediocre and food was less good than the service. Menu is a bit of a hodgepodge of flavors (it is tapas) that don't work well with each other, especially when you have no control as to when or in what order things will arrive. read more

I love the layout of this bar. We came in for a quick drink before catching our plane so we didn't eat, but I would definitely return to try their food. I did sample the lemon ricotta cake with lavender crust which was very good. Good portion too. I don't remember what drinks my husband and friend got but they were nice and strong but still smooth. I especially loved the background music they were playing which was classic hip hop (nas, tribe called quest, pharcyde, etc.). read more

We were here on a date on a Saturday night, and were thoroughly impressed by the decor and vibes at Black Bottle. They took special care in crafting our cocktails, which were made to perfection. We ordered the Ballard Dad, which was a unique mix of turmeric with scotch and citrus tones. Also, the sun rises was a beautifully crafted rum cocktail. We ordered the Indian Chole Bhature, since we wanted to review if this American restaurant did justice to the traditional Indian chole. We were not disappointed. They've added their own spin to Chole, which is tangy and spicy at the same time. The bhature is fried wheat flour, and was well made as well. Overall, I would give this spot a 4.5/5 if only yelp allowed that. Highly recommend. read more

Black Bottle is open late till midnight!! I suggest you order their Spicy Seared Yellow-Fin Tuna. It was absolutely delicious. Their pickled mackerel according to my colleague, was quite scrumptious. Ambiance here was nice and modern. There is a full bar which is a great option especially when they get busy. If there was anything our whole team noticed, we all agreed that staff was a bit off the night we dined in, especially our waiter where he could've been friendlier. I like the minimalism of this place. We tried two gin based drinks - one with basil and the other one with pine flavors. They were alright. For mains we did the cauliflower fritters which was surprisingly spicy - Indian Chinese flavors, lamb kebab Mediterranean platter as well as Prosciutto flat bread. Loved the ambience! read more

I called a week in advance to make dinner reservations for a party of 7 for a Thursday night. Day of, I got stuck in bad traffic going to and from the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival so I called right when they opened and was able to push out my reservation to 8 pm. So that was great! Food wise, it is tapas style, we got a bit of everything. - blasted broccoli - spiced shrimp - kimchi pork belly - a couple of the flat breads - lamb meatballs and hummus my favorites were the kimchi pork belly (favorite favorite) and the lamb meatballs were displayed very nicely and looked super appetizing! It was my bday, so they brought me a bday treat which was sweet and delicious! My friends covered the meal, so price wise, I would say it was a lil on the pricey side. Overpriced food for the quality and portions. House wine and service was decent, which is why I am giving two stars.

Nice space and ambience. Food is ok for a group looking for a quick bite in a place that's not going to be booked out on reservations. Basic stuff: charred broccoli, crab/artichoke dip, flat breads......that kind of thing. Main dishes less impressive. Duck wasn't couldn't well---red inside, which is great, but gray and blah on the outside. Biggest issue was the rush job. Our res was at 830, and we were all a bit surprised when they said kitchen AND bar close at 930. Felt like we were at a kids place. We ordered 4 bottles of wine for our large group, and then were also told that the bottles had to be open and poured into glasses by 10. Strangest thing I ever heard. So we got an entire new set of wine glasses from them and poured 2 each in front of each of us to comply. They were much more interested in getting home then serving customers. Really classy place to eat. Service was amazing and the suggestion on food and drinks from the bartender were on point. I had ordered the Caesar salad, chicken flatbread, and a couple of Martinis. I was not the biggest fan of the espresso martini, and the bartender generously replaced it without a question. Highly recommend for a quick date. read more

Went for dinner at this place last Saturday and absolutely loved the food there. They have changed their menu since covid and I originally went to eat something from the old menu and was surprised to see they did not have those options now. I anyway went ahead with ordering something new and it was absolutely delicious. We ordered a salad and a Flatbread, a freshly made lemonade too and everything tasted really good. I might go back to this place if I'm in the area and explore more options read more

There is no doubt Black Bottle is a fantastic place to eat. The food is on point and the service is usually equally good. I would recommend trying the cauliflower. Spicy and delicious. As well as any flatbread. The bartender was skilled in his craft but ultimately fell short on customer service. Sitting at the bar I would expect a more inviting experience, instead the interactions felt awkward. Overall Black Bottle provides a pretty great dining experience. read more

The flatbreads and scallops were yummy too! The best part was the timing of service. We ordered everything at once and the staff spaced everything out perfectly for our group. A bit off the path from the grungy bars on 2nd/3rd, this place is quaint - high ceilings provide great natural light and in the summertime there is a little patio to enjoy. Happy hour daily from 4-6 has some small bites and discounts on cocktails, beer &wine. I like that the menu divides into meat, seafood, and veggie. Being a hardcore veggie its nice to not go straight to what i want. Also if you want to be even more particular they can provide a special menu for gluten free, dairy free, nut free and vegan specific options (yay). Nice portions to share and always a good wine selection at decent prices. I've never had to wait here for a table but I suggest grabbing a quick beer next door at Some Random Bar if your stuck waiting. read more

My parents and I had an awesome dinner at Black Bottle! They have happy hour daily form 4-6 with a few food and drink specials. We arrived just before 6 and actually the happy hour wine was really tasty! We shared a bunch of items, green bean fries, broccoli, ahi tuna tacos, lemon bacon scallops and shrimps! Broccoli was hugeeee so a great plate of you have more than two people in your petulant. Both the tuna tacos and bacon scallops were amazing! Such fresh and perfectly cooked seafood. Our waitress was really friendly and gave tons of good recommendations including this delicious Cabernet from Brown Family I believe. We hung around for quite a while and the staff never bothered us. Just let us drink and eat for as long as we wanted. Really enjoyed the whole experience here! read more

I give the drinks and dessert a solid five-star, but I did not necessarily enjoy most of the food. The ingredients were fresh, but the dishes were overall over-flavored -- too greasy and way too salty in general. Perhaps I had high expectations from the amazing reviews I read. I hope to give some of the other dishes a chance next time I'm in town, but I will definitely ask for personalizations including light oil and light salt/sauce. read more

Wanted to love it, but only liked it. If this was a blind date, there wouldn't be a second date. Wrong drinks showed up, three times. I ordered the short ribs that were dry and tasteless, they were gracious to take it off the bill. One of our entrees didn't show up with all the rest, someone forgot to place that order for us. We were there for a birthday celebration but they ran out of deserts, it was only 7 pm. Plus side, great environment and our server kept a really positive attitude even when everything seemed to go wrong. Hopefully, it was just an off night for them. read more

I've been here a couple times before, but was super impressed at my last visit! A family member held an event in their private space and it was executed flawlessly, and the food was exquisite. I normally don't like event appetizers, but these were all very flavorful, unique, and well presented. Music was good, and there was a private bar throughout the event. The staff worked hard to be pleasant and make the special occasion a lot of fun for the hosts. I highly recommend this place - hip location, posh crowd and staff, great food and drink. Actually, I'm hosting a crowd of international folks next week and tried to book this same space for a private dinner, but they were booked :-( maybe next time - I'll need to plan ahead further! read more

Nice atmosphere, but it can be a bit loud in the back dining room. Great wait staff--never had to wait long for anything and they were quick to take additional orders and clear dishes. How the mighty have fallen. Mediocre kitchen, pretentious service. Carry on like the 3.5 basic you are, no need for 5-star airs without the execution to back it up. Kitchen has noticeably changed for the worse, with majority of dishes falling flat. Had a reservation but numerous staff ignored us for 10 minutes like we were invisible. Wait staff were as pleasant as a fork to the eye, and literally threw down dishes on our table without ever addressing which dish they were serving - unexpectedly rude. Completely forgot our order of 7-spice shrimp, so just ended up canceling our order. DECENT: Scallops - well-seared and tasty Peach blueberry kettle tart - served piping hot, nice rich crust, beautifully presented SKIP: Cauliflower fritters - not fritters, just heavily fried cauliflower, doused in sauce. Hangar steak - largely flavorless Leek brie pesto flatbread - heavy-handed and one-dimensional. Needs better texture vs. greasy mess Maybe something was up that night, maybe not. Plenty of better dining options in Seattle - save your wallet and your time. read more

I went here with friends after Google searching and we were very impressed! We are wine fans and they had a long list of wines to choose from! I wasn't sure which one to choose. The wait staff was very knowledgeable about the wines as well and could recommend them well based on your taste preferences. The service was awesome. The place had an awesome vibe and a relaxed environment as well. We ordered snacks. I had the Lamb Meatballs and they were delicious with a very rich flavor and came with a fresh side of veggies. The dip that they had with the Pita Bread that came with the meatballs was creamy and had a great taste. One of my favorite happy hour spots in Belltown!! LOVE me a Ballard dad (the cocktail, not the person). The cocktail sounds totally hipster-pretentious with turmeric cinnamon scotch, but I promise you it's GOOD. Both times I've come here it wasn't too packed, so definitely a good place to take a friend to relax and catch up without all the extra noise. In terms of food, their menu consists of small plates so it's recommended to order family style and share! I haven't been disappointed by anything I've ordered here, but hands down my favorite dish is the pork belly and kimchi! Some of the most tender pork belly ever, complimented perfectly by the sweet and sour sauce and crunchy kimchi. I could seriously each a whole plate myself!! Great atmosphere! My gf and I went in the evening not expecting to marvel at the beautifully candle lit setting. We were blown away! The food was excellent, tapas style small plates that were delicious taste treats. We didn't try any of the drinks, but they looked fantastic. We ordered three of the vegan options and loved all of them! The broccoli was the favorite, but the chickpeas will have us returning! I this place is great to hangout with friends. Very nice ambience and atmosphere. The photos in this restaurant come out very well. I love their service as well. I wish they had more options for vegetarians. I like the tofu with peanut chutney and the cauliflower fry(very similar to gobi manchurian). The other options they have for vegetarians is mostly salads and I didn't like their salads. We ordered 2 salads- one with veggies and year other with greens and they were both alright. We got the kefte lamb meatballs mezze plate $23 and the meatballs were dry and had no flavor, the olives were watery and had no flavor and the bread was crispy...Then we got the prosciutto & besciamella mozzarella & parmesan $16.5 the flatbread tasted like it was frozen and made in a microwave oven and also had no flavor The drink was delicious but overpriced and we're not sure there was alcohol in there. Portions are a lot bigger than I remembered! These plates are definitely great for sharing. A group of 10 were here for a birthday dinner, and everything we ordered was fabulous. We ordered the broccoli blast, rainbow trout, and duck breast for two of us to share. We were able to try bites of other dishes like the oxtail, shishito peppers, and clams. I would pass on the duck breast, it was pretty salty, but everything else was so good. The oxtail was also salty, but it would be great with some bread or rice (if they had it).
