Disappointed by the heirloom tomato salad, but the salmon pesto rigatoni more than made up for it -- one of the best flavored pasta dishes I've ever eaten. read more

We have visited several times. We recommend reservations. This place gets packed! Parking is horrible. We were surprised there is no option for a draft beer sampler!!!! Pizzas are great, love the bruschetta and the cheese and meats platter. Best to just let the chef decide. read more

Went last night to try their charcuterie and have some wine. We were seated on the patio, which was great now that the weather is cooling a bit. We ordered the 7 selection board and it was wonderful. Our waitress was new, so when I asked what the selections were on the board, she actually got one of the sous chefs to pop out and tell us. I was very impressed with the service and the food. The duck prosciutto was amazing, as were the house made accompaniments on the board. The cheeses and meats paired well. It was a lovely experience and we will go back for a more extensive meal soon. read more

Great place to grab a drink and something to eat! It's off the beaten path but feels like home. The calamari was out of this world, the pizza was amazing as well! Also had a great beer and whiskey list! Definitely recommend this spot, and can't wait to go back! read more

We were treated extremely rudely by the manager when he overheard us complaining about the service. I tried to discuss this with him but clearly he was not interested in pleasing his customers. read more

Great atmosphere! The restaurant is beautiful, A TON on seating at tables and at the hugr rectangular bar! The food was awesome, I highly recommend the beets! Bartenders are friendly and talented! New favorite place! read more

After reading a bunch of so-so reviews for this place, I was hesitant to try it. And upon walking into the white tablecloth/paper-laden dining room, I was still hesitant. It looked cramped and stuffy. Fortunately, we had a reservation and arrived early enough for flexibility, so we asked to be seated at a high-top in the bar area, which had a much better vibe. Our server was amazing - pleasant, helpful, and a little goofy. The beer list was impressive. Our appetizers, a Caesar salad and salmon tartar, were okay. Actually, we really didn't like the tartar, as the flavor of the entire dish was overwhelmed by citrus. The salad, though, had a yummy dressing. We tried two pizzas - the Bianco and Locavore. The Bianco had sage leaves on it - a little too strong for my taste and would've been better chopped up into smaller bits. The Locavore had fresh veggies, including asparagus - simple but very good. I've read a few negative reviews about the pizza. I guess it depends on what you're in the mood for. Sometimes I want regular old pizza - lots of sauce, cheese, thick crust, cheap. And sometimes I'm in more of a fancy flatbread kinda mood. I'd say the pizzas at Birrotecca fall more into that category - a little pricey, a little artsy, but good. read more

Awesome spot to have family dinner, a date or a birthday get together. Impressive menu with fresh and unique ingredients. Great drink menu. Pear-ishable goods is a must try martini !!! Loved the ambiance. Can't wait to go again! read more

Birroteca Baltimore - Fig and kale. Awesome combination with beautiful flavors. - Italian Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

This place was absolutely delicious! We'll definitely be going back again. However, I highly recommend reservations. On our first attempt at 5 on a weekend, we were turned away. read more

Phenomenal selection or beer and craft coctails. The calamari is amazing and although the calamari is sautéed, it is some of the best I ever had. It is sautéed with capers and olive oil. The pork belly is perfectly cooked with a delicious sweet and spicy mix (honey I think and peppers paired with the salty-ness of the pork was phenomenal). The pizza is great and I recommend the duck duck goose. This place is a must read more

I went last night for a second time. Love the bar area. Had a few glasses of wine and a pick 5 charcuterie offering. Service was attentive and friendly. read more

Who doesn't love pizza? Everything from the food to the service was excellent here, I'll definitely be back. My favorite part was probably the bruschetta with ricotta, kale, blackberries, and Pinot noir syrup - seriously, I hope they never take it off the menu! read more

This is the place I always bring my friends and family when they are in town for a visit. Every pizza I have tried has been delicious, my favorites are the cipolla and duck duck goose. Great beer selection on tap too! I've never been disappointed. Also a good place to keep an eye on the ballgames. read more

I have been several times and have enjoyed it each time. The pizza is very good. I particularly like the Duck Duck Goose and also the mushroom pizza. It is very popular and there is always a fun buzz and atmosphere. It is located in an old mill and so the walls are stone and brick and there is a lot of wood. It makes for a warm inviting environment. We also had good service. read more

This is really a cool place to visit for dinner. The atmosphere is great! Both times I've been we sat in the bar area which is perfect for drinks and meeting with friends. They have a good selection of beers. The food overall is good....BUT I thought the portions were pretty small especially for the price. I had the bruschetta which was delicious. I also had the pappardelle pasta which was very tasty. The margarita pizza was not good...the pizzas have been pretty disappointing. Overall, it was a good experience and I would go back. read more

Wow! Amazing! Probably the best Italian place in Baltimore. Garden fresh ingredients, great atmosphere and the meals are just amazing. I don't know how to describe it well enough; try it. You won't regret it! Love it and will be back again and again and..... read more

We had a lovely day, with good food and great service. Our waitress, Emily, could not have been nicer. We are originally from Hampden and met some childhood friends that we had not seen decades at this charming and historic restaurant. Thank you for making our reunion so special. read more

Been here many times with friends. I don't mind the place, but I have no idea why it is so popular. I never had anything I'd rate above a B and it's crowded and noisy read more

Have been trying to land a reservation at this popular restaurant every time I'm in town. Tonight was the night. We had a 7:30 reservation for 5 of us and were so looking forward to a relaxing night with some good food and fun family time. Upon entering we got such a good vibe from the place. Great atmosphere, our server was pleasant personable and very helpful. We started with the crispy cauliflower which was delicious! We followed with 3 different pizzas and the pumpkins gnocchi. All of which were mediocre at best. For this review nothing really matters but what happened when we finished our dinner. Our dessert, the Italian kit kat, which was the best part of our meal, was devoured quickly and our conversation was finishing up. This was a bottle of wine, a few beers and 1 hour and 15 minutes after our arrival when we were asked to leave because there were other hungry guests waiting for a table. Are you kidding me?? I had just signed the check for $213.00 and had barely put the pen down. Anger and disbelief don't describe what we felt at that moment. I could go on and on about our treatment by one of the staff members. Suffice it to say we won't be back. If you want some good food and great pizza try any of the other local restaurants. You won't be sorry! read more

Been here a couple times for happy hour after work, so this is mainly a review of the bar experience rather than the restaurant experience. Selection of local beers on tap is good, bartenders are knowledgeable (and cute, it should be said), and the food is a notch above average. Try their rotating cheese and meat place for an appetizer--carefully selected and everything is delicious. read more

What can I say-Birroteca ROCKS!! I have been several times and have been meaning to write a review for some time now. I have been there with large, medium and small groups and the food has always been delicious and the service perfection. Not to mention its such a cool atmosphere! The stone walls give it a very cozy feel. Pizzas are great and the brussel sprouts are AMAZING! Birroteca is definitely a fan favorite. read more

A great versatile place that is good for numerous occasions. I love the cocktail and beer menu. I've gotten a lot of different items - pizza, salads, cheese plates, desserts, and everything has always been wonderful. I wish that the location was a tiny bit walkable, especially in the evenings. read more

Great food. Pizzas came out at different times - annoying. Server upstairs was somewhat curt and brusque. Other times I've been, service is great. Pizzas came together. read more

The service was friendly and attentive. The waitress was a bit slow, but she was very busy. The food was great. The steak tartare was phenomenal! read more

I brought my family here after going to Nepenthe to learn how to brew some beer and they really enjoyed their experience. Our server was quick and efficient, available when we needed him, but not overbearing. While the entrees were seemingly small portioned, they turned out to be more than enough for all of us. I wouldn't say all the food was amazing, but that is just a matter of finding what suits the palate. I wouldn't get the Crispy Polenta or the Sweet Potato Cranberry Gnocchi again, but I really enjoyed the Meatball appetizer and the Boar Pappardelle. The Chocolate Cherry Old Fashioned was a perfect liquid dessert to conclude the meal. read more

The best Vegan Pizza I've ever had! Absolutely delicious! Love the seafood too! Extremely friendly and professional staff. Fun atmosphere! This place is hopping all the time but a must visit! I can't wait to go back! read more

Visited there last night with three friends. The restaurant was crowded, but not overly noisy. We ordered two pizzas - a meatball and two friends ordered the spicy fennel. I did not like the spicy pizza at all, and my meatball pizza contained three tiny, tasteless meatballs. We also ordered arugula salads at $15.00 each, which were bland. We asked the waitress for bread and was told "That'll be $1.00 extra." Give me a break! A pizza place that has to charge for bread? Obviously they bake it on demand because we had almost finished our salads when we finally caught the attention of the waitress and asked where the bread was; we were told it was still in the oven. If I want a pizza there are much better options at a lower price, and wait staff that actually appear to like their jobs (surly waitress.) read more

Really nice out of the way gem. Artisan Italian cuisine and nice selection of craft beers that pair well. Great service, nice music and great people. read more

We came for dinner and the food was great! Even more better was the service. Jason was so customer service oriented and everything was brought out so quickly and his personality lightened up our night. Highly recommend the Brussel sprouts and the pizza. Make sure you try the Italian love cake, and be sure to ask for Jason. He wont let you down. I highly recommend this place and him. Great vibes and food! read more

First time eating at this restaurant & it was a pleasure from start to finish Our server Jason was so attentive , pleasant & gave us excellent recommendations. They have a great selection of drinks & it has a wonderful atmosphere. Will definitely be back! read more

The atmosphere is fun but the place usually isn't my first choice. They do have some problems with accurately labeling vegan items, so do talk to your server (I was once served a heavily dairy-based item that was labeled as vegan). But the food is usually good. Wish they had vegan cheese. Side note: always get the chickpeas. read more

We have been driving by this place the last few weeks and the parking lot is filled every night. We made reservations last night for 5:30, we sat down and the place filled up. Great atmosphere and menu. we had the arugula salad, buffalo bolognes, and cured meat and cheese plate. All excellent, service was too. Will back very soon. Highly recommend a trip to Birroteca....make reservations though! read more

Alewife and Victoria's Gastro Pub has nothing on this place! Finally, a bar that has a wide selection of craft beers, a good menu and fair prices. The Imperial Green Tea Stout and the Baktun Stout are a must try for stout beer lovers. The Salmon Tartare, the Wild Boar Pasta, and the Duck Duck Goose pizza, were phenomenal. Whether you are a foodie or not, you got to try this place out for yourself and order the aforementioned food items. You won't be disappointed. As many reviewers have stated, this place is packed--like if you are planning to dine or hang out here on a weekend during peak dinning hours you better make a reservation packed! It does get kind of loud, but if you want to avoid this then make earlier reservations and dine in the dinning room...not the bar! Service can be touch and go, at times they are super busy and are not able to immediately get you another pint...but relax, it will come. Overall, I would recommend that you stop reading all these mixed reviews and check the place out for yourself!!! read more

I've only been once and the food I had was very good. The beer selection was decent. The location and ambiance was fun. Finding it was a little adventurous. The menu at the time was a little confusing, (not because of what was on it), but the changing selections based on days. At the time, some of the things I wanted were only served on days I wouldn't be able to come here. All in all, I like the place and it was a fun dining experience. Our server was amusing (a little pretentious, but funny and delightful at it.) read more

Good service, good food and the sea salt caramel ice cream is amaaaaazing. Would definitely go back.

One caution: If you make reservations, make sure to mention that you want the dining room. I didn't think i would have to say that but we had reservations for 5 for my daughter's birthday and they put as at a high top table right next to the bar. I asked if there had been a mistake as i made a reservation for dinner but no, that was where they put us. They did say they would see if they could do anything (the dining room was only half full at that point) but after few minutes of nothing happening I just gave up and said we would stay at the bar table. It was noisy and my elderly mother had a hard time getting up and down from that high chair. So, lesson learned. Ask for the dining room. Once we gave in to the seating; however, we were off and running on a great experience. I guess in the bar area it is a team of wait staff that takes care of you, and they were great. Very helpful and attentive. Now for the best part. The food. We started with brussel sprouts (very good), the meatballs (even better) and the calamari (the best i have ever had!) Seriously that calamari was perfect. I had the duck duck goose pizza which was very good. I highly recommend it I also tried some of the double D Meatball pizza which was also very good. The fresh basil really made it. The manager (i think that's who it was) did come by and check on us to see if there was anything we needed. a nice little touch at the end - our server (Meg?) boxed up our leftovers and wrote what was in each one and the date. Overall we had a very positive experience. I will definitely return. read more

We were seated at one of the large tables in the bar area tonight and we had a great experience. Server named Laura was sweet, went over all options for meat and cheese plates with us. lots of options. She suggested the special of the night. Swordfish, came with heaping plate of fresh pasta. Portions were nice to try different dishes, getting a bit of everything. Brussels sprouts, always a family favorite. They were out of the rabbit pasta. Huge selection for draft beer and they even have tap wine. Try the bottled moscow mule, they make it in house. There is really something for everyone here and we never feel rushed. Good job Birroteca, we will be back read more

There's nothing bad here. Seriously, everything I have ever had here has been incredible. I visited again this past week for my wife and I's second anniversary and this was her first time there. We had the brussels (some of the best I've ever had), the bruscetta which was perfectly crispy but soft with a generous helping of toppings, and finally, the Cipolla pizza which was equally amazing! We often take photos of our food but we totally forgot to because we were hungry and because everything just looked too amazing to wait! The bartenders were very knowledgeable about all the craft beers which they had a ton of which was really enjoyable. Go here... often... you'll be happy! read more

I've been here twice, and was hoping for a better experience the second time around. The first time I was disappointed, but they had just opened so I figured the half-cooked pizzas and uninspired salads were due to growing pains. This time I went with a large group, so we ordered a bunch of apps and pizzas for all to share. Things stared well. The eggplant fries, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts were all cooked and seasoned well, demonstrating an understanding of how each of these veggies should be prepared for optimal texture and flavor. The problems came with the pizzas. We ordered the Mushroom pizza, which, according to the menu, comes with Cremini, Shiitake, Oyster & Portabella mushrooms. Our pizza was full of only Crimini. Similar story with the Locavore, which claimed to have roasted market vegetables, but only had some Arugula and canned tomatoes. Unfortunately we were caught up in our wine and conversation and didn't realize until we had left that we had paid $20 each for pizzas that were no better than a frozen pie we could've pulled from our freezer. Would only recommend if you stick to the apps and are willing to send your pizza back. read more

Not sure what all the fuss is about. Food was ok, nothing special. Papparadelle entree portion was small and fairly tasteless. Pizza wasn't bad but nothing special. Big issue was service. Felt very rushed. Server disappeared during dinner, then brings check. Obviously was anxious to seat the next four top. Would not return nor recommend to others. read more
